Things I want to see happen this year:

1) Defeat of Audi's in P1
2) Defeat of Vette's in P2
3) Defeat of Porsche in GT2

3) Defeat of Porsche in GT2
Again? We had that last year. Not that I'm going to complain if it happens again.

Does anyone have a list of all teams, cars and drivers taking part in the test day?

Well, I dream of seeing a strong result from Peugeot this year... so I would like to be as confident as you!

Be careful not to bet all your money on that!

Briliant time by Sébastien Bourdais in the 908 during the test today !!!! :bounce:

With a final lap time of 3'26"707 he was more than 1s faster than Emanuele Pirro and Allan McNish both driving Audis ;)

Jacques Villeneuve in the other 908 was more off the pace, but it was obvious seeing his lack of knowledge of both car and track... :mark:

Jacques final test position was 5th overall behind Bouillon's Pescarolo but ahead of 3rd Audi(Lucas Luhr/Mattias Ekström)...

But one of its drivers, Stefan Johansson, will drive the number 13 Courage that has been successfully re-built too(crash during test day also) ;)

Also Sebastien Bourdais will be on chat on http://www.tagheuer.com on thursday june 14 from 4 to 5 pm (French time so CET). That would be a great opportunity to ask him how he feels about the car.

Looks like rain for much of the 24 hrs.

I think the R10's will handle this better than the 908's because of more driver familiarity with the car.

Tom206wrc
15th June 2007, 00:20
End of qualifying practice !!! ;)

As feared, thunderstorms and rain didn't allow drivers to improve times(McNish had best time with 4'01s "only")today :mark:

10 minutes before the end of practice Stéphane Sarrazin was about to drive the 908 number 8 with "dry" tyres, but another car(Corvette number 70)went off the road and forced officials to present red flag and end of session :(

Note that Marc Gené went off the road quite early(broken driving shaft)forcing the 908 number 7 to stop its set-up program quite early(Jacques Villeneuve had to drive it until midnight) :s

So qualifying is finally:
1-Peugeot number 8
2-Audi number 2
3-Peugeot number 7
4-Audi number 1
5-Audi number 3
6-Pescarolo number 16
...

It would be very interesting now to have names of drivers who will have to start the race !!! :)

Pretty sure McNish is starting the race, Kristensen to finish it in the #2 Audi

Last year heard that Audi has the policy 1 driver qualifies the car (ie runs the low fuel fast lap setup), one driver starts the race and the third finishes the race

Greetings all from the best corner at Le Mans....ARNAGE. Hope that you are enjoying the race as much as I am. The fans here are crazy. I'm working on my 2nd bottle of tequila. The racing has been great. Pugeot missed the mark by not going to Sebring. Alot of people here think the same. If they went there then they would have found out just how fragile their car is. Glad to see that they're still running. Since I have a hard card pass I had a nice tour through the garage area. What a set up that the Astin Martin guys have...their complex is bigger than my house. Hope you are having loads of fun. Go Ron Fellows....a fellow Canadian. Rumour has it that this maybe the last year for Corvette. Had a ride on the ferris wheel.....my god the ground is moving. So as I raised my half empty bottle to you guys...CHEERS. Now I'm going to wander over to another part of this track. I've been here since 1988 and they keep moving things around. STOP IT!!!!!!! I'm going to get lost. Audi must think that this is a ALMS race....way too fast of a pace. Hope Mc Nish gets his second win. By the way....where is the Pilbeam?

Then i'll wander down to the garage area and scarf down a meal from my buddy Dan Binks. He owes me.....inside thing from when I worked for Jim Downing. Take care......oh oh the ground moved again.....

Congratulations to Audi!

Well done to Peugeot for finishing and getting on the podium in the 908 - hopefully it will be more competitive next year!

Big congratulations to the Astons in getting their long awaited class win and with the 007 car!

Can't wait for next year's race!

Very impressed with Aston's finish-5th overall.

Congrats to Audi and Peugeot on the fantastic races- and good job from Pescarolo

Shame about the lack of LMP2 finishes- but great race nother-the-less.

Can't wait for le mans 08- may be there.

Did aston hint at an closed prototype car a few minutes ago? Think they did- can't wait for that

congrats to Pescarolo and Rollcentre, that car is just amazing who reliable it is.

such a shame for the #2 Audi, they had the race in the bag and just had bad luck. at least though Audi did win.

ashamed of the P2 class, when I went to bed there were only about 3 of them out and I wake up and only 2 are left running.

tough break for Risi as they had GT2 wrapped up before troubles for them. hate to see Porsche win the class again.

congrats finally to Aston on GT1 victory, but our boys will get them back nex year :D

Yeah- shame about 2 audi DNFs and one peugeot DNF. But it's really a last-man-standing race i guess.

Loads to tell my freinds at school with le mans tommorow

To bad Jacques Villeneuve's 908 had engine problem two hours before end of race whereas he(with Minassian and Gen&#233 ;) was 2nd overall  ;(

Congratulations to the winners Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner
Congratulations to Sébastien Bourdais, Stéphane Sarrazin and Pedro Lamy to bring the 908 on podium for its first 24 hours race :bounce:
Congratulations to the Pescarolo team, again best of the gasoline powered protos ;)

Fantastic to see three Aston-Martins and a Corvette in the overall top 10 too !!!

Just hope they don't ask you if you saw Lewis, after all, all you get now is Lewis this Lewis that. You'd almost not know that Le Mans was this weekend, the lack of coverage was scandalous.

Good to see the 997's win at Le Mans:

A quick look at the positions hour by hour will show that the Porsches lead the first 4 hours of racing, the first hour being lead by the IMSA Performance Porsche and the next 3 were lead by the Autorlando Porsche.

It was in the fifth hour that the Risi Ferrari sped up (together with the now 5th place Flying Lizard Porsche) to take the lead. It would keep that lead until the 15th hour. (Still 9 hours to go!)

Interesting to note, is that although the Ferrari’s were not the quickest cars (best lap times belonging to the Flying Lizard and IMSA Porsches) both the Risi and the Scuderia Ecosse Ferrari completed the most amount of laps in one hour (18).
Also interesting is that this was done in the 13th hour (the Porsches completed 17 laps in the same hour) and both Ferrari’s only lasted 4 hours after that.

The Porsches also posted higher top speeds on the Mulsanne straight than the Ferraris.
In conclusion, the Ferraris lead for 13 of the 24 hours (Risi 11, Scuderia Ecosse 2) and the Porsches lead for 11 hours (IMSA 8 and Autorlando 3)
Yes the Ferrari lead for a longer period, but domination? Hardly!

Strange that no one on this forum mention that Lamy's Peugeot should have been disqualified as he stopped the car just before the finish line one lap before the 24th hour. It was forbidden unless the driver had no other choice. In this case, he could have gone for another lap but he wasn't sure he could make it and they knew they had to cross the finish line to be classified. Peugeot broke the rules. They have not been disqualified. No one heard of that?

Actually, no. I mean yes I heard about that but Peugeot deserve the 2nd place IMHO.

This (stupid BTW) rule states that it's forbidden to wait "on the track". The Peugeot 908 (Bourdais BTW) stopped close by the track itself (on the grass).

Besides, the sanction if the rule is broken is not specified and certainly not a disqualification. It could be a fine or something. The stewards decide.

So Peugeot deserve the second place.

But if this had happened to a Pescarolo or any other less influencing team, they would have received a sanction.

Don't you agree?

wasn't Binnie Racing in the pits until the final moments just to come out and claim P2 honors since the second place car was about 20 laps behind
