Indeed. He's shown very good pace but needs to cut out the mistakes to get the results.

i was reading about the 40k that skoda is 'paying' to their top 3 drivers in each round. but reading this i understood that its not actual cash, its 'discount' for new parts bought with the skoda motorsport. i mean, im all in, for sure. i wish all the brands had more stuff like that, especially in erc and national series, but it was curious to learn that its not aaaactual money hehe

It very rarely is
aaaactual money There's almost always a parts or services deal in there that costs the sponsor less than the headline "value".
In any case, even if it isn't cash it's still help and it's a shame that there isn't as much about as there used to be in years gone by.

The gravel stages in the Hungarian countryside are challenging, and the crowds are usually great. Veszprém as a HQ makes it easy to explore some cool spots around the rally too.

This shows pretty much the regulars for the ERC season without the 'big name' extras we saw at Rally Sierra Morena.

The locals here are pretty quick though, so it's still going to be really competitive.

https://www.fiaerc.com/en/news/event-preview:-erc-switches-to-gravel-for-super-tough-rally-hungary

“The race is a bit later than last year, so the stages will be even more challenging with the heat, so I’m expecting a survival race,” says Mixi Csomós. “The winner will not necessarily be the fastest driver, but the one who makes the fewest mistakes. And that’s very important, because there are 10 or 15 drivers who have a chance of winning.”

Weather forecast currently says mostly dry weather, with 14-17°C, so last year's heat will not be a factor. Also, there was plenty of rain so far, and will be some still until the weekend, which can be even more tricky on these stages than the heat.

Yes, according to the article at https://www.fiaerc.com/en/news/bertalan-steps-up-for-home-erc3-counter it's a record 13 crews in ERC3 and many of them are very young.

Nice close times bodes well for a great battle.

Korhonen is fast but Armstrong was fast on FP and on the QS even with a tyre off the rim. A shame for Philio Allen on QS as he was quick in practice. He is a bit crazy though.

I just hope that punctures dont decide who wins.

If you have a second puncture on the same stage and do not wait for following car to pass before starting again after the change, is Armstrong the biggest asshole of rallying? Discuss

I don't know how it works, but Korhonen's time on SS6 was corrected. He didn't lose much.

archie106
11th May 2025, 06:57
It depends on whether Armstrong had been told that Korhonen was there - no point waiting if something had happened to Korhonen earlier in the stage.

At least the times have been corrected now.

Fast Eddie WRC
11th May 2025, 08:15
Armstrong said last night,
“The conditions were quite rough. The first puncture was in the rough section but then the second one we were stuck in dust and going slowly and I don’t even know what happened there. To get two in the one stage is pretty unlucky. I don’t know what the game plan is now but it is a big shame as everything was going quite well.”
