Fourmaux retired?

Wrc.com shows so

Why would he do that?

If you retire then you can change certain components on the car which you can’t otherwise

ok.. its tough to end up retired just 2.3 seconds of the podium when being on a podium for full rally

I'm not sure if it was the right decision to give Kalle 2 extra points and Seb a better starting position for Chile.

I think Paraguay and Chile are linked rallies so they can't change what ever they want and the car had probably a serious issue that they couldn't have fixed otherwise.

In the end everyone had something. Evans was standing in the ditch/bushes, Seb had his tyre, Ott a bit more as always. Overall is a bit worse for Tänak, but still within reach, lets GO!

I didn't see It all, but think it was a good rally, worthy of being on the calendar. New roads, good challenge, plenty of stories. Look forward to it next year.

Agreed, the little bit I saw looked good.

The stages were a bit boring characteristically, yeah they were challenging because of the bumps and no grip but too many straights and etc. Power stage was the best and most interesting, if they can add more stages like this then it will be better.

Tänak maybe should have had a better final result, but overall I think Tänak's fans have to be happy with the outcome. A retirement or SR was't far on Friday.

This rally gave so many what-ifs and whoulda-shouldas, that everyone can invent their own scenario and they are not wrong.

This. The first stage was let-off, that shouldn't be repeated. But, fanwise, it looked good place to go. In the future it is reasonable to have South America double event.

From AleksiP on Discord:
only 4 guys left with wrc2 title chance:
Solberg 110; 1 event left (Chile)
Rossel 99; 1 event left (Chile)
Greensmith 57; 3 events left
Gryazin 30; 4 events left

Korhonen could still do 2 more events and he is on 69

He mentioned somewhere that he is not going to compete anymore this year in WRC2.

To simplify understanding the situation, I added "max to earn"
Solberg 110; 1 event left (Chile); max to earn 135
Rossel 99; 1 event left (Chile); max to earn 124
Greensmith 57; 3 events left; max to earn 132
Gryazin 30; 4 events left; max to earn 130

True, but isnt giving extra points to Tanak the more likely reason ? I'm sure they wouldn't have retired Fourmaux if he was still on the podium...

There's also a few Rally3 and Rally4 entries, including Uruguayan duo Santiago and Matias Ruiz in the latter.

The Ruiz brothers won the race :)

It seems Dirtfish has evolved and doesn't want to receive so much hate anymore in the comments. This time they didn't post anymore the teaser for the driver ratings.

Sure is unlikely, but you never know if his sponsors think there is an opportunity

Yes, Tänak got extra points from his Fourmaux's retirement, but so did Rovanperä. From that perspective, if it were ONLY to give extra points to Tänak, some kind of time penalty could be enough. So I guess points for Tänak was not the only factor for the retirement.
