He said a while ago that he have strong options in WRC2 and maybe a chance at Rally1. So I quickly assume he got offer again from Toksport Skoda and Printsport Toyota. And logical he accepted Toyota offer as it's kinda ticket way up directly.

AG Rally says its confirmed...
🇸🇪 SOLBERG 🤝 TOYOTA 🇯🇵
Oliver Solberg has signed with Toyota and will compete in WRC2 next year in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.
The deal also includes 2/3 WRC races in the GR Yaris Rally1 but which these will be will be decided later.
Solberg will be Toyota’s lead driver for the 2025 WRC2 title and will therefore take over from Sami Pajari during the 2024 season. Solberg’s path is identical to Sami’s with a stint in WRC2 plus a few rounds in the top class with the ultimate goal of a full-time contract in the 2026 WRC.

https://www.motoradiario.com/rallyes/item/9993-roberto-blach-jr-afrontara-un-programa-parcial-en-el-wrc2
The Spanish driver will repeat his World Championship project with a partial programme in the WRC2 category that will take him to participate in at least four events: Rally Islas Canarias, Portugal, Acropolis and Central Europe. He will also take part in other legendary events such as the Ralli Serras de Fafe or the Croatian Rally, which this year will be part of the European Rally Championship (ERC) calendar.
The driver from Arteixo will be back with the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 of the Portuguese team The Racing Factory, vehicle and squad with which he will drive in this 2024 four events in total, being one of them in the WRC2, the Acropolis Rallye, as well as the Gran Canaria, Rally Islas Canarias of the ERC and the Portuguese event of the Ralli de Castelo Branco, where he reached the third place on the podium. Blach Jr. made the leap to a higher level car in the middle of the year after abandoning the JWRC project after the events in Sweden and Croatia, which he was taking on for the second consecutive year after the P4 obtained in 2023, a season in which he made his international debut on board a 4x4 car after winning the RfEDA Junior Scholarship in 2022, which gave him the option of an international programme supported and sponsored by the federation.

Hyundai could match Toyota and give 4th full season to Gryazin and then share 5th car. It's not like they had excuse for running 4th car because of Hybrid. They spend much more money on different things that running one more car. This discussion for 4th car is now so long already, that they are really lying to themselves.

Rossel Brothers Team Up in 2025 to Drive the C3 Rally2 to New Heights in WRC2!
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GfARagZX0AA-NWz?format=jpg&name=4096x4096
Having impressed this season on both tarmac and gravel at events in the WRC2 with Nikolay Gryazin and Yohan Rossel behind the wheel, the official C3 Rally2 aims to pursue its fine form in the world championship in 2025, this time driven by brothers Yohan and Léo Rossel.
The #C3Rally2Family enjoyed a successful 2024, amassing no less than 135 wins worldwide, reflecting the competitiveness and versatility of the C3 Rally2, as well as the quality of service provided by Citroën Racing.
Continuously refined by the dedicated teams at Citroën Racing in close collaboration with customer teams, the Citroën C3 Rally2 enjoyed upgrades in 2024 that confirmed its incredible speed on tarmac, whilst also ensuring it became increasingly competitive on gravel. Seven years from its introduction, the car has clearly reached maturity in terms of reliability and competitiveness, without having exhausted its potential for improvement.
These qualities have made the car immensely popular with teams and drivers, enabling it to secure numerous victories throughout 2024. Starting with Yohan Rossel – Florian Barral and Nikolay Gryazin – Konstantin Aleksandrov, Citroën Racing’s official crews in the WRC2 this year, who secured the WRC2 Team title with Belgian DG Sport Compétition team clinch the WRC2 Team title thanks to six class wins at a variety of demanding events: Rallye Monte-Carlo, Rally Croatia, Rally de Portugal, Rally Chile, Central European Rally and Rally Japan. In racking up two one-twos (in Croatia and Chile), several other podium finishes and 90 stage wins, Nikolay and Yohan showed genuine pace in what is an incredibly competitive class, finishing third and fourth respectively in the WRC2 standings.
Building on this fruitful collaboration, Yohan Rossel, once again paired with Arnaud Dunand, will remain Citroën Racing’s official driver in WRC2 for 2025. In a Yacco-backed C3 Rally2, he will be joined by his brother Léo and co-driver Guillaume Mercoiret, with both starting their seven-round programs at Monte-Carlo and supported by the expertise of the PH Sport team. Darmezin and Valentin Augé will be competing on behalf of Citroën Racing in the French Rally Championship after winning the 2024 Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup, as will Yoann Bonato and Benjamin Boulloud. Pablo Sarrazin – Geoffrey Combe and Sarah Rumeau – Julie Amblard, who will be competing in a C3 Rally2 in the WRC2, in the French Rally Championship and in the French Gravel Rally Championship with the Iron Lynx and Iron Dames teams respectively, will be supported by Citroën Racing. The same will go for Réhane Gany – Frank Le Floch in their entry in the French Rally Championship.
Of course, the C3 Rally2, with some 135 wins in 2024, as a title to defend in the French Rally Championship after Léo Rossel and Guillaume Mercoiret took top honours this year in only their second full season in the championship, whilst the Bonato-Boulloud crew finished as runners-up. The #C3Rally2Family also enjoyed strong results in the ERC (two rally wins), the Italian championship (five wins for Andrea Crugnola-Pietro Ometto), in the Spanish SuperChampionship (Diego Ruiloba ended as runner-up) and in Latin America. In Mexico, Ricardo Cordero Jnr and Marco Hernandez won their fifth championship, securing a fourth straight title in a run stretching back to 2021. They even made a little bit of history, becoming the first Mexicans to win an event in the Rally America National Championship at the Oregon Trail Rally. In Chile, the Heller brothers – Alberto and Pedro – finished first and second in the RC2 Pro championship whilst Tadeo Rosselot - Sebastián Olguín claimed the RC2 title.
The success enjoyed by the #C3Rally2Family did not stop there, however, as Yeray Lemes led a one-two at the Canarias de Rallys, Kenneth Madsen claimed another title in Denmark and Gary Chaynes took top honours in Côte d’Ivoire. The car also recorded first-class performances in Belgium, where Citroën Racing secured the manufacturers title, and in New Zealand, where Emma Gilmour and Malcolm Read finished third in the championship. Clearly, the incredibly versatile C3 Rally2 travels well!
Didier Clement: Stellantis Motorsport Customer Racing Sports Director
“The 2024 season was exceptional, thanks to talented drivers like Yohan Rossel and Nikolay Gryazin, who pushed the limits of the C3 Rally2. We thank them for this extraordinary year, marked by six victories and impressive performances. We now look to the future with great enthusiasm. The 2025 program fully embodies Citroën Racing’s commitment to excellence and developing young talent. Yohan Rossel will continue competing at the highest level, while the addition of Léo Rossel, Sarah Rumeau, and Pablo Sarrazin in WRC2 showcases our dedication to nurturing talent from the Stellantis Motorsport promotion programs. This is an ambitious new chapter for our brand and our vision of rallying, focused on performance and fostering the next generation of champions.”
Nikolay Gryazin, 2024 Official Citroën Racing WRC2 Driver
"This year with Citroën Racing has been a valuable experience, with great moments and strong performances from the C3 Rally2. It’s been a pleasure to work with such a committed team, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this journey."
Yohan Rossel, 2025 Official Citroën Racing WRC2 Driver
“Representing Citroën Racing at the highest level is a tremendous honor and extending my commitment with my brother Léo in 2025 adds a deeply personal and passionate dimension to this challenge. The C3 Rally2 has been phenomenal this season, whether on asphalt or gravel, and I’m excited to continue pushing its limits with a car that keeps evolving and surprising us.”
Léo Rossel, 2025 Official Citroën Racing WRC2 Driver
“Becoming the 2024 French Rally Champion with the C3 Rally2 was an incredible milestone in my career and joining Citroën Racing as an official driver in 2025 is a dream come true. Having grown up in the world of rallying and through the Stellantis Motorsport promotion programs, my journey is a testament to Citroën’s commitment to young talent. I’m ready to take on this new challenge alongside my brother Yohan and continue pushing the limits of this extraordinary car.”

Dreams come true as Somaschini confirms WRC2 entry
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GfE3Ql1XQAAh9nw?format=jpg&name=small
Rachele Somaschini, a four-time Italian Women’s Rally Champion, is set to fulfil a lifelong dream by joining the WRC2 field in the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship.
The Milan-born driver will compete in a Citroën C3 Rally2, tackling six rounds of next year’s championship while championing her #CorrerePerUnRespiro initiative. The campaign, which raises awareness and funds for cystic fibrosis research, holds deep personal significance as Somaschini herself has battled the genetic condition since birth.
Somaschini’s impressive résumé extends beyond her national success. She has been a familiar face in the FIA European Rally Championship in recent years and has already competed in five WRC events, gaining valuable international experience.
Partnered with co-driver Nicola Arena, the 30-year-old will launch her campaign at the iconic Rallye Monte-Carlo in January. Her calendar will also feature stops in Sweden, Portugal, Finland, Spain, and her home rally in Italy.
“Becoming a rally driver was my childhood dream,” said Somaschini. “Achieving this has taken immense dedication and passion. Yet, I’ve always felt the urge to prove myself at the highest level. Despite my health struggles, that moment has arrived, and I am deeply grateful to all the partners who believed in me and made this dream come true.”
Reflecting on the road ahead, she added: “I know from past experiences, such as Monte-Carlo entries and European Championship events, that competing at this level demands even greater preparation, dedication, and effort. I intend to give my absolute best, knowing the competition will be fierce.
“Achieving this milestone means the world to me. I sincerely thank everyone who helped make it possible. I also plan to participate in select Italian events throughout the season to stay sharp and maintain a connection with our passionate home fans.”

realistically, the only wrc2 campaign with rally1 option is with toyota. very few (if none) of the recent wrc2 champions outside toyota went stable to wrc.
m-sport is a different path, with more money to jump directly into rally1.

it's the only real way to a rally1.
Now with 24-years old Rovanpera and 23-years old Pajari in Toyota rally1 and then 23-years old Solberg waiting in line, it would make more sense for someone young and talented to try build Hyundai connection. They kinda disregard youngsters last years but with Tanak and Neuville being rather older drivers, some spot could be open even for 2026.

not really. his wrc2 campaign was not really a thing, and he got back to regional championship before rally1.
two more things:
1) it's very well known that it wasn't the rally2 that given him a rally1 at m-sport, but money (the same sponsor u named, not everyone has this luck .) same apply to munster...
2) there's no more a m-sport program in wrc2 anymore (nor even a private fiesta, basically...), and just a reward drive in erc. so basically, no m-sport in rally2. Their "new" driver arrives from a private team and from basically money. same applies for hiunday: no program in wrc2, nor really in erc. just private paddon, although they seem to be boosting a local/regional renewal with rally2. anyway, no connection to rally1 possibilities.

Winning the 2024 BRC in two different cars was a good achievement. I dont think there's anything to be gained by defending the title and with fatherhood on the horizon it makes sense to take a break.
A proper WRC2 attempt takes so much money and the top guys are well-backed with testing too, I cant see anyone on a tight budget being able to compete.

The precocity and immediacy in moving up the ladder are still an asset in today's rallying reality, another example of which is young Giovanni Trentin's bid for the 2025 season.
The 17-year-old Italian driver will make his World Rally Championship debut this year with a total of six events in the WRC2 category in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 for the Italian Delta Rally team, with experienced Italian navigator Alessandro Franco on the right-hand side.
Trentin will start his World Championship campaign in the WRC2 category at Rally Islas Canarias (Gran Canaria) on the last weekend of April. This will not only be his debut in a World Championship event, but also the first time he will drive a Rally2 car in an international event, a type of car he has only driven twice in two rallyshows. In his only two full seasons so far, 2023 and 2024, the young Italian driver has only accumulated kilometres and experience in national competitions aboard a Rally4 car. In his debut season, he did manage to win the junior championship in the Latvian National Rally Championship, demonstrating his ability on the fast gravel tracks. In 2023, he visited other Baltic countries such as Estonia and Lithuania.

Heikkilä moves up to WRC2 in 2025
Finnish rally driver Mikko Heikkilä makes a move to the highly competitive WRC2 category for the 2025 season. The former ERC regular is set for a full six-round program with Finnish TGS Motorsport and Skoda Fabia RS Rally2.
Finnish rally driver Mikko Heikkilä has unveiled his program for the 2025 season. The returning Skoda driver is set for a full six round season in the highly competitive WRC2 category. Heikkilä begins his season from Rally Sweden in February, and the rest of the program consists of the gravel events across Europe.
-Our end goal was always WRC, and it’s coming to fruition now. After the Finnish championship in 2022 we planned for two seasons in the ERC, and a graduation for WRC in 2025. We’ve contested WRC events every year, with Sweden, Latvia, and Finland last year, but now we’re here to calculate points too. We’ve been hard at work the whole off-season thus far, and we’re extremely happy to compete at the highest level of Rally2, Heikkilä rejoiced.
Heikkilä will be competing with the Finnish TGS Motorsport, a team familiar to Heikkilä led by a former WRC factory driver Toni Gardemeister. Taking on the co-driver duties in the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 is fellow Finn Kristian Temonen.
-Returning to TGS is like returning home, and I’m happy to be competing with Toni. Our past includes three full seasons in the Finnish national championship culminating in gold in 2022, and last year we competed in two rallies with Toni including WRC Sweden. Kristian has proven to be the right man for the spot. Changing back to Skoda was a combination of multiple factors, and Fabia RS has been proven to be fast and reliable in all conditions, Heikkilä explained.
TGS Motorsport CEO Toni Gardemeister is delighted about Heikkilä’s return to the team.
-I’m happy to have Mikko return to his home team to chase WRC glory. Mikko has the “sisu” needed for WRC, and he knows how to gather the whole team behind him. We’ve achieved a lot together in the past, and we’re ready for more, Gardemeister said.
Heikkilä’s goals for 2025 reflect on his competitive outings in Finland and Latvia, in which Heikkilä finished second in WRC2.
-As we saw last year, when everything goes as intended, we can have a race with the factory drivers. Our main objective is to extract all the potential out of myself and the team, and to convert that potential to as good results as possible. A medal at the end of the season would be a cherry on top, Heikkilä promised.
Mikko Heikkilä's WRC2 program for 2025
1. Rally Sweden 13.-16.2.
2. Vodafone Rally de Portugal 15.-18.5.
3. Rally Italia Sardegna 5.-8.6.
4. EKO Akropolis Rally Greece 26.-29.6.
5. Delfi Rally Estonia 17.-20.7.
6. Secto Rally Finland 31.7.-3.8.

Together with the team Munaretto Sport and Co-Driver Samu Vaaleri we are ready to give our maximum this season, it's going to be big one for sure!
Our WRC2 campaign starts Rally Sweden but before that we will join Arctic Lapland Rally in Rovaniemi area to ensure proper taste of snowy stages

I would think this: a) Skoda cumulating resources for 2027 reg push - it should be a good investment, possibly even secretly aiming to WRC class, thus, no support from Skoda - we can call it regroup; b) general impact on massive EV investments by Skoda and VW group vs slower than expected demand has led to budget cuts and cut in Skoda support.

As far as I know Gryazin will not be the `official´ Toksport/Skoda driver in the 2025 WRC2 season - due to the political pressure - and currently doesn`t have the plan for the rest of the season. Things got complicated when everything was already agreed upon.

Coincidentally, I have just come across a list of all rallies that Fabrizio Zaldivar was competing in in 2024. Holy sh.it! 21 events! This guy must have an enormous budget! :)

Well deserved win for Solberg/ Edmondson in Solbergland!
They seemed to control it fully, once they understood the new car and tyres.

Munster did 26 rallies in 2018 and 24 in 2019.
That tells you a lot about how much money their father has.

As I know, he sponsored by Jourdan Serderidis (who currently raced with Puma Rally1 too in Sweden).

Munster did 26 rallies in 2018 and 24 in 2019.
First I thought that Solberg has a reach starting programme - with 14 rallies a year.
But he was topped by Grazin - with 19 rallies a year.
Then I dicovered Zaldivar with his 21 events.
But Munster's 26 must be some world record :)

"Kajetan Kajetanowicz returns to Gran Canaria.
The experienced Polish driver has revealed his plans for this season, his eighth in a row in the WRC - FIA World Rally Championship and with the aim of reediting the 2023 WRC2 Challenger championship alongside Maciej Szczepaniak.
Kenya, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Estonia, Finland, Paraguay, Chile, Central Europe, Japan and Saudi Arabia are the eleven remaining events chosen by the ORLEN Team member this year.
In this way, ‘Kajto’ will return to the #RallyIslasCanarias eight years later, an event that he competed in 2016 and 2017 with second places in the ERC and thus becomes one of the favourites for victory in his category as he knows the terrain and the particular asphalt of the islands"

This is not reveal of his plans, it was only funny video how his line-up will looks like when he will keep the choosing events on lottery. So only true info is that he will continue in WRC2.

Skoda upgrades:
Vital changes these.
From what we saw at the Safari, it was clear the Toyota Yaris is the class of the field. Oliver Solberg would have won on a canter. And Kajetan, too, looked comfortable fending eventual winner, Gus Greensmith.
Fair play to Gus. He drove smart and achieved something special in avoiding puncturing all event. But the writing was on the wall as debutant Jan Solans harried him towards the end of the event.
Both Skoda and M-Sport, in particular, will need to step-up and bring in upgrades or see new orders shrinking rapidly.

To make any conclusion from Safari about speed is quite nonsense. It is very specific event, where if you want to make a good result, you must find the correct ballance between speed and reliability and also be lucky. Nobody who is fastest and pushing all the time can win. And Oliver was by far the best driver in Rally2 machinery there. We will see on other events...

I'm really surprised to read these comments, it was a big step forward sound wise compared to the old Fabia R5/Rally2 IMO and much better than for example Citroen C3 Rally 2 which sounds like an old canal boat.
