It's a very good series, Didn't have the cheesy effect of DTS, but felt the adrenaline. Nice job on that.
On one side I'd say it's great because is totally accessible and free, but it would've better to be also on Netflix, which is basically a target of soon-to-be fans that might potentially be ready to pay for a subscription to see the whole action.

"More than Machine" is largely on the right track. Hardcore fans will always find ways to access the sport, but the casual observer can only develop an interest if the stories or sub-plots are told in an easy-to-understand format.

my least favorite so far. the other two were cooler imo.
sad to confirm that even doing excellent shows for the hardcore fans that doesnt change the sport's visibility.
every racing series started doing stuff like that to follow f1's hype but its just not the same. and dont get fooled by netflix, youtube have a bigger reach. of course f1 had more money to promote the trailer for the show, but eh, its just... they just lost money doing that. not even we, the peak fans (haha) are commenting here like f1 fans talk on reddit about DtS. eh...

Based on this episode, (based on current rumors) losing Fourmaux to Hyundai is quite hard to swallow for Wilson and Millener. Feels quite sad actually. They need someone to deliver next year to survive.
Takeaway from this episode is also, that they try to produce a rally driver from Munster, but there is a lack of talent.

M-Sport showed clearly here how much they've put into Fourmaux and how they'll do all they can to convince him to stay. If he does go to Hyundai it will be 100% his decision and a kick in the teeth for the Team that's done so much for him.
I was actually surprised how he showed he was really annoyed with the technical issues. Surely he knows by now its rallying how parts can fail and bad luck goes around everyone.
Also the way he was speaking to the girl providing him with his stuff and his lunch came across quite poorly. He seemed to be becoming a bit of a diva.

I need to admit I lost a lot of respect for Fourmaux because of that. I agree with the rest of the comments as well.

You're putting too much on a glorified reality show. Going by DTS, Abiteboul is a clueless clown...

Watched, looks a bit like a "corner cutting" of the concept - very little real insights, just some off script comments here and there. But still, though, good that we can see some back-stage events of the team. Martins Sesks - a fresh breath that is just a must to make the WRC more live and attractive to wider audiences.

it was a fun watch, to relieve those 2 rounds. sesksmania is real, we need him in 2025.
and to be fair those P5 and P7 were incredible. you can see the team kinda sad after the powerstage disaster but f* it, it were 2 excellent rallies for martin!
oh, btw. Hyundai also puts out some videos after the rallies. im sure most here follow them too but heres the link anyway

looks interesting... but just like their good content on youtube or msport's good content... the good more than machine content... its just not F1. haha racing fans asking for all their favorite racing series to have more presence online, with content that could be attractive to non racing fans - LIKE F1 DID - to get the YOUNGSTERS onboard... but ehhhh, it simply doesnt work. wasted money imo. looks interesting tho, cant wait

Hyundai's 2024 season docuseries was worth the watch. Nothing too revealing, but its was good to get some behind-the-scenes clips on people and procedures we never get to see normally.

The final episode 'Pressure' based on Rally Chile was a bit sad to watch now, after Fourmaux left and Sesks didnt get a f/time seat in 2025.
2024 could well be seen as a kind of golden year for M-Sport having some Fourmaux podiums and the excitement from Sesks' appearances.
The drivers there in 2025 dont look to have much chance of creating any results or buzz for the Team. :(

The thing most seem to forget about Drive to Survive is that it became a proper hit during the pandemic. Sort of a perfect storm for them as the second season came out right before all the pandemic shit properly hit the fan, so there were 20 episodes out when live sports basically didn't exist and people were hungry for entertainment. And one can not overlook the production quality, which has been very high since the beginning. Production quality is important as it can mask some short comings.
I haven't watched the last episode of More Than Machine, honestly can't say that I properly watched since the second episode. It's just missing the quality to attract the attention and some segments didn't have a lot of value. It's harsh but it feels like a cheap TV production.
And the Hyundai documentary trailer felt very amateurish. Not sure I'll get to watching their documentary itself as just don't have so much free time.
Don't take me wrong, it's great that content is being produced. But it's a shame that it isn't being produced at higher quality.

This is why I made the point when people were saying "WRC just needs a DTS" that they wouldn't get what they were wishing for.
Same with the people who were begging for more/better use of social media - they probably left social media themselves by now because it's a dying medium.
I'm not knocking any of this content, only the folk who said it's the kind of thing that'll save the sport. These kind of documentaries are for the already converted IMO.

YES... unless you are f1, nba, uefa champions, or some of these TOP LEAGUES on the planet, with gazilions of dolars and huge industries behind them putting giant efforts to produce this type of modern content (reality showISH).
it didnt worked for motogp, v8sc, formulae, extreme-e, these wrc attempts, endurogp... its not the right direction imo.
rallycross in america tried to invest in social media over these last 2 years but jesus christ it is SO ANNOYING having 30 short clips with bad modern music per day on your feed. i left social media and that influenced me haha i hate social media 'random content' just for the sake of doing it.

The genre isn't the easiest in the first place. F1 races are covered by so many cameras that you sort of only need to follow the guys out of the car. In rallying when something happens, at best you have the helicopter filming from above as there aren't too many road side cameras. But for the drama you need to be there when it happens. The filming process on rallies is exhausting as you are playing constant catch up as you need to be at the next spot before the crew gets there. So you need proper dedication to do it. And in F1 it also helps that there's 20 guys racing, in WRC we have about 9.
I'm not sure that social media is a dying medium, it has become very fragmented market and platforms are pushing a lot of stuff that you aren't following really. It's a difficult era to promote as you need to be everywhere and mediums/platforms differ from each other, so you can't just spam the same identical stuff everywhere.
Documentary/reality series itself won't save anything but it can boost. Estonian media referenced rallit.fi article with Millener about their docu series and about the Youtube vs Netflix. And here I am coming back to dying medium. I know it differs between countries as the industry is not in an identical situation right now, but traditional TV (the big channels) has still a very big influencing power. So can't rule out the old mediums yet.
