The itinerary for the event is out!
https://acm.mc/exigeant-a-plus-dun-titre/
343kms of Special Stages, I think it’s the longest we’ve had since they applied the stupid rule of up-to 350kms of SS back in 2019; 3(!) nights stages, fingers crossed they’ll all run. Col de Turini will again serving as the power stage, hopefully they won’t finish like this year
Dimitris
22nd July 2024, 13:10
Col De Turini will turn right at the Col, and will finish at Peira Cava, like 2017 for example.
I made a map predicting how the stages will look, obviously some inaccuracies to be expected.

To be honest I would change the classic Turini route (La Bolléne-Vésubie to Sospel) for the IRC (2009 I think) variant any day. That one was same like 2025 but much longer, passing Peira Cava, than turning left through the epic descent to Pas de'l Escous and after that over the Col de'l Orme and Col d'Ablé.

I've made maps for monte carlo that show all watching positions available through internet and how it looks like from that spot with a car passing by with youtube/instagram links. Positions and stages are precisely drawn and marked. Also I made colorized icons describing speed of a car passing by on each spot (bright green 0-30kmh, dark green 30-80, yellow 80-110, bright orange 110-150 dark orange 150-180 and red 180+). Every corner is described briefly of what you can see from it. On each mapped position you will get 3 photos of a car entering, going through and exiting that corner as a preview from a video. Maps are suited for both newcomers and experienced users so you'd know what to expect from a position rather than going blindly and being dissapointed with your watching position.
Stages covered: Shakedown, SS1 SS 2 SS3, SS5, SS6, SS8, SS9, SS16, SS17, SS18
Watching positions covered: 252 + 60 on shakedown
Shakedown map link is here for FREE: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1L1JJxC9J3sUDgbrk6ORYAllDFLuJx5o&usp=sharing
And all other maps together I am giving for a small FEE of 30€ due to this taking way too much time and effort. Paying only through paypal.
You will get them as soon as I saw payment being made and it can be used only on one email of your choice that you will tell me in payment description box or in dm's and maps will be shared on that email. Email preferably has to be gmail, but not necessarily due to google having issues with sharing on some other emails that are not gmail ones.
Contact: Preferably reddit /u/Lect3R, discord: Lect3R or alternatevly here in dm's but in past I had issues here with dm's not openning.

I think if the interests is being there, many cars could be build sooner than later, but FIA is again procrastinate with decision of dropping that tech. I think it could be good, since the cars will still be spectacular, fast and clearly could many challenge for some good outing at least for top ten, if we look at local contestants (I exclude Serderidis and Bertelli, because they are slow as hell).

The option to run non-hybrid versions of the Rally1 (Puma) has been available for a while so I dont see any sudden increase in cars once hybrid is officially dropped.

Maybe it's this due to uncertainity... If we look closely on team perspective, I don't think they have that much cars built already, since there is challenges running it in big numbers on rallies, logistical side, infrastructure, unknown costs (which just now appeared to be way higher than expected). Then teams didn't build many cars to have them in stock. This year indeed they change those rules but still, with lack of interest they didn't built them. But dropping hybrid unit for good also means, that also ''locals'' or whoever wants have equal chances to challenge for top ten, podiums, or good appereances. I explicit take out of this Serderidis and Bertelli again, because those two would drive slow even if they only had hybrid powered cars. This year is clearly a proof that Rally1- and Rally2+ concept wouldn't work.

Toyota and Hyundai had no interest in Rally1 sales or making non-hybrid versions.
But M-Sport did and had several cars available for sale or rent (hybrid or non-hybrid). Rich Millener also said it wasnt a problem to convert the cars or for them to run both versions together.

Then we can assume it's covid crisis which started declining that private entries, expensive aero packages, I think also (when everything goes up) that entry fees, running costs increased, then that hybrid thing even worsen the whole thing. I mean cars become faster, but running without it against all others I think no one wants that. It does not have any value, just being slower. Then Toyota and Hyundai also with their showing muscles didn't do any favor to the sport, because their non-interest for giving out the possibility to rent their cars. I think that maybe in future it could be achieve that again.
But if we do achieve having at least 20 Rally1 cars on the grid, they will need to change the whole concept of AllLive, because even now when there is 8 cars there and then showing 5 second class cars usually takes 1.5 hour of watching in front of screens. And all we got is the same sections and too much animations, talking and way too much snails.

first thing i'd do after deciding to ditch the HY would be to just beg TGR/HWRT to rent their cars if theres demand. we know they have more than 10 cars in their shops. its still expensive, but its not a million bucks anymore, right? jeez cant promoter/fia/teams get to a point where they realize everybody would win if they rent those +10 cars to people for cheap prices? why to just keep them shut in the shop? just rent them for r5 prices, whatever. (haha me, a bad bussiness man!... tho is not like TOYOTA and HYUNDAI are in need of money, eh)

I think it's more than if someone right comes in those cars, that they would be better than official drivers, and then it would be bad image to manufacturs.
If we assume with hybrid unit that the car costs 1million and without (unit is 150.000€), then thatnumber don't change much. Even M-Sport admitted that building car for that amount isn't a problem at all. It's running cost that it's worrying. And now with that number significantly increasing the only solution is to drop it.
We already are almost sure Hyundai will leave soon. But losing also M-Sport over this would be the last nail in the coffin (they are the sport, their herritage, they are here forever and was when everyone leaved).

Loriaux doesn't see any problem with the late switch to non-hybrid or the need for extra testing...
“I don’t think we need to test more without hybrid,” he said. “If anything, in some ways it’s easier without hybrid. For sure, the car is less complicated and the settings are easier, so I wouldn’t say we need more test days if we take out the hybrid."

Noticed from regulations that tyre sizes are different from last year(at least for rally MC).
Overall they are all narrower and from model name, RC1 and 2 use same tyres.. hopefully RC1's are stronger..
In 2024 slicks and snows for rc1/rc2 were same dimensions, but 2025 snow ones are narrower..
2024:
slicks
RC1/RC2 - 235/45R18
RC3 - 205/45R17
2025:
slicks
RC1/RC2 - 225/40R18

I bet if you put them next to each other they'll be the same size, or marginally different.
It's just different mesurements from different tire manufactures

I've not looked at the documents but is there confusion with snow and ice? To me, a 'snow tyre' belongs at Rally Sweden in 'gravel' spec.

Hi there, next January will be my first time at monte and since I'm from Costa Rica I don't really know much about how things are done there and I'd like to ask some questions. I'd like to see a night stage with flares and all that fan show, do you all know if there will be a stage of those kinds, maybe ss1 or ss2? And also we are renting a car, I suppose there is park zones around? Btw, are snow tires enough for the weather or is it better to use chains?

From what I've heard Monte is very difficult. People say you have to get to the stages very early and wait there a long time as there are little access roads available and stage hopping is therefore difficult as well. Snow tires should enough, but it really depends on the weather and were you plan to spectate (altitude).

Hello rally fans! I find myself planning which spots to spectate the Rally Montecarlo 2025 from and, given that it's my first time attending this rally, I have some doubts. Are we allowed to be outside of the official spectator zones (ZP)? Because in Rally Finland and Rally Sweden there are like suggested places to be, but you're actually free to go anywhere else (except from some private areas in which it is prohibited). Also, is parking really difficult? Should we go well in advance or like any WRC rally? Thanks for the help!

Prohibited area signs become memorabilia at Monte Carlo Rally. Comparing spectator safety in Finland and Monte Carlo is a bit like comparing sanity to insanity. Last year there was no logic at times, like people could be with camp chairs and a bonfire about 7m from a prohibited zone sign on a field and no one would give a damn about them.
With parking I'd say be early everywhere and you'll save yourself longer walks.

Beautiful livery for the Puma as always, shame the Hyundai & the Toyota are still ugly...

So we can see that Puma does not have any more hybrid vents on a body. That means that they've used a homologation joker for bodywork.
Hyundai has converted theirs for rear breaks cooling. We can see blocking panel where rear breaks cooling ducts were.

https://www.wrcwings.tech/2024/12/09/review-of-2025-rally1-technical-regulations/
The prominent intakes of the Puma and the Hyundai can be blocked or removed. Blocking can be done joker-free, but if they are not removed the drag of these cars will increase, as air will find higher resistance to flow around the car. A joker is required to remove them, and jokers are very limited for 2025 (just 2 available for the chassis). Thus, Hyundai and M-Sport will have to decide between removing the side intakes (and spend a joker) or keeping them, giving them a new use, such as brake or transmission cooling.
Fast Eddie WRC
20th January 2025, 13:04
"The Ford Puma Rally1 was deprived of the side intakes in the events it ran as non-hybrid in 2024 (Poland and Central European Rally). For 2025, the removal of the Ford Puma side intakes will also depend on the availability of jokers, just 2 for 2025, once they have already used the 2024 jokers."
So did they already use the 2024 jokers ?

Tanak's grumpy stage-end persona and Evans reply of 'quite ok' to every question, dont do much for the exciting image of RB.

Again, I'm aware it's not the most important thing in the world but I truly hope we'll see a NEW livery for the i20 in Sweden for the rest of 2025, and I also can't stress it enough, it's depressing to see for a 6th(!) season running no fourth WRC team in the service park. Also, did they not mention in the regulations for this year that the service park itself would be smaller and they wouldn't have these huge facilaties for the cars?

If i were manager, the first thing i would do is set up a 4th and 5th car. This massively increases the chances of winning rallies and the drivers title, for a rather small part of the total budget.

With 80 million a year they shouldn't even say that 4th car isn't available because of budget. Just a stupid excuses. Why then M-Sport are even racing. They are not even close to that numbers.

Yeah, Monte is pretty much the worst rally to debaut in a new car.
It;s wise to take it slow rather than crash out on the first stage and not gain any experiance

Surprised times are Tanak, Katsuta, Rovanpera and Fourmaux (he was so hyped he will throw the glow to everything straight away)... But I wasn't surprised at M-Sport drivers. Josh is first time in this car. But Munster is completely dissapointment.
But on the other hand we saw Dakar. Dacia, Ford and also Toyota did all dissapoint. And then ex WRC friend won with private entry. That was surprise, since I never imagined he will fly high there.

To be honest I am not surprised given the pollution. Rov and Tanak were quick in the first half of the stage (where the road was more clean) but the last half, I saw Kalle was literally not aggressive at all and the time loss was obvious. However this is Monte you never know what is gonna happen anytime.

Reading the stage 2 conditions from Hankook site it seems this is the place where Neuville and Fourmaux will use their two winter tires.
in general last third of stage very dirty with a lot lose gravel and mud

Took a look at the hankook-recce page - that is a really nice surprise, if to not say, hankook does not provide only tires, but a nice overview of many things that would be responsibility of the promoter.
In case someone is looking for the link from (many pages ago) like I just did, the helpful link here:

To say the truth, Pirelli was doing it in similar way, but it was only for competitors, not for public...

I wouldn't be worried if I were Tanak or Kalle. Rally is long and tricky so anything can happen, and they'll excel in other rounds. The smart thing is to get points when you're not comfortable.

I was expecting him to beat at least the rc2 cars. He is having more power, more grip and a better road position and still loses 18 seconds to gryazin.

McErlean is even slower than Greensmith was in a top line car. At least he seems to be a bit more of a likeable character. But, it’s so slow, and definitely means him and Munster are the worst lineup ever. However, we should be thankful that they are keeping M-Sport heads above water.

I suggest we give hime time. Monte in these conditions, night and starting position is the worst situation one new-comer can start his WRC carrier. I am sure he will progress through the rally and also through the season. You all know that Malcolm and Co do not like those who bin their cars - that is why Munster is appreciated and have these opportunities - he did not bin a single chassis, contrary to many others. I McErlean will stay on road, he will progress.

I guess McErlean has only one goal at the moment and it is to gain mileage and reach the finish.
To be slower in Rally1 car than others in Rally2 is not a boost for your ego, but his job is to ignore this fact at the moment.
He did not have any results to boost expectations of him to be a top 5 rally1 driver out of the blue. I think everything is logical at the moment.

But M-Sport seems, are also the only one who can do impossible and turn absolute wreckage into fully running racing machine again in a matter of hours. Remember TiTanak and last year Munster with his slow speed total crash (that car look more like an old model Puma than new SUV they are running).
