It's pathetic really. Saying they wouldn't add any prestige to the sport.

When you literally have a team called Visa Cash App RB

You're right about it being sad that they haven't been allowed in , but don't blame that name on the FIA .
Blame the idiots that thought it would be a good idea to accept money for such a name .
But , ( and this is a big "but" ) not to excuse the tragic name , it does read somewhat better if it is shortened to VCARB , which I suspect was the idea they were chasing .

It looks bad on the constructors , as it looks to all that they are afraid of the competition .
It looks bad on Andretti , because they somehow weren't good enough .
It looks bad on the FIA , as they rubber stamped a failed bid .

It just looks bad .
It just looks ugly , nasty , money soaked bad .

I guess , though , that the use of " Visa Cash App RB " does illustrate pretty accurately how ugly , nasty , money soaked bad the whole bunch of them are .

And , that really is pathetic .

I think that all parties will regret banning Andretti. It'll take a couple years, but they will wish they had let them in.

How long before Andretti buys Haas?

Buying Haas would be best for everyone, including Haas. But Gene has given no inclination of wanting to sell. But he also has no ambition for the team either.

It seems likely that Andretti is going to sue F1. It would be interesting to see if they get any success with it.

It's looking more and more like the powers that be want to just try to force Andretti to buy and existing team. And the reality is, they are overvalued.... nobody wants to buy any team not up to par and overpriced.

Being Liberty is a US based company, it could come to legal matters. I don't think anyone wants that, but it doesn't seem like Andretti will back down without a fight either.

Rep. Jim Jordan is demanding a series of documents and communications from Formula 1's president and its U.S.-based owner, Liberty Media, about the decision regarding Andretti.

The chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee is launching an investigation into Formula 1 and its U.S. owner, Liberty Media, to demand answers about the sport's decision to deny Andretti Global a spot on the grid.

The deadline for F1 to respond was May 21, when F1 was requested for comment, they declined. The U.S. Senate has asked the FTC to look into it now. Probably more movement will occur once summer break is over. Andretti has hire two Lobbyist.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem offered advice to Andretti

I would advise [Andretti-Cadillac] to go and buy another team, not to come as the eleventh team. I feel that some teams need to be refreshed. What is better? To have eleven teams as a number or ten and they are strong? I still believe we should have more teams but not any teams. The right teams.

This is a very ugly business really. I fail to see why they are bent on restricting the grid to ten teams only.

Haas has reduced from 4 cars to 1 in NASCAR. Evidently, Gene Haas has also been suffering from some type of illness for much of 2023.

It appears General Motors has parted ways with Andretti and is entering Fi as Cadillac F1. All indications suggest that they are about of attain the approval of both the FIA and FOM for 2026. There may well be an 11th team in the paddock for the 2026 season. How great is that? Yeepee!!!

That would be "Cadillac" , not "Cardilac" .

I personally think this sudden change of heart has to do with the DOJ getting involved. After Mario and Maffei had their dispute at Miami, suddenly things are changing and it looks like the door is open again. No shock that Maffei is "leaving" soon. As for the name, I think the rebranding was partially ties up in funding, but I've seen different spins reported. But in either case FOM doesn't require the name to reflect the GM or Cadillac branding, nor the majority ownership that I'm aware of.

It seems to me they are just repackaging the deal with the changes, and don't want to admit that Maffei brought Liberty under the attention of the DOJ and FBI.

I guess it takes a big car company to change minds. Shame, really, but, like I've said, we need more teams, so I'll take it.

It is probably not as simple as that. Andretti also did not handle things right. He made it harder than it should have been. A change was necessary for things to move forward, it seems.

I think Mikey is still a bit miffed from the way he was treated during his short stay as a F1 driver.

Well, the co-owner (Dan Towriss) of Andretti Global has taken over the day-to-day duties, and they have rebranded it TWG Global. Mario Andretti is on the board. Michael Andretti's role is unknown, but he endorses the deal.

It looks like it is a face-saving measure by Formula 1 to avoid the anti-trust investigation.
