Lets get the pickems thread up for 2024

Rules setup the same way as previous years, summed up below. If you have suggestions for improvement, post and discuss them here quickly - I want to have the rules locked for the season when first cars take off in Monte.

Scoring:
Points are awarded according to the table below.

In case of equal score, the win is given to the better prediction of 1st place. If that is equal then better prediction of 2nd place gets the win etc.
In overall standings the lowest scoring round of each player will be dropped, starting from second round.


Predictions
Predictions will be made in a designated forum thread.
Predictions have to be made using the format and rules described in the prediction thread.
Each driver can only be selected once - prediction 1 Tanak 2 Tanak 3 Tanak will not give you points for all the predicted positions.

We begin the year with a shared victory. Both ferrial and Lanket555 scored an impressive 84 points. Rew follows them a bit behind in 3rd.

Today I start with a little nagging. Please dont make double posts in the predictions thread, edit your original post if you wish to change your prediction. It messes with my excel worksheet and it can double the time I have to spend on this - its not always obvious what and where exactly is wrong. Also please keep to the format described in prediction thread - spaces between places, not dots. Your name in the end, on the same line as the rest of the prediction.

Rally Sweden
With that out of the way, lets go straight to the results. Not a high scoring round, this. just 49 points required for the win and Typ85 takes it, raffrantic follows close behind in 2nd. Rallyper keeps the flag up for the organizers and takes the last podium position.

Well, everyone did better in Monte. Everyone. So overall standings remain exactly the same, save for a few newcomers in the end.

The luck of a some drivers mean there were very few disqualifications. For our pickems it means a very high scoring round so if you missed this one - tough luck! :)
Timlord22 takes the win with an impressive 86 points, followed by Bandit12. 205-T16 takes bronze, just slightly better than moto69.

Damn, worst pickems ever, just can’t seem to get it right this year, I think it’s down to the new points system changing the way the drivers tackle the events and hence making it harder to predict the outcome, or I’ve just lost my game this year.

Our champion for 2024 is CeskyOndra! Lankey555 had been in the lead for more than half a season but CeskOndra did to him what Tänak failed to do Neuville this round - victory is his by 4 points! Lankey - I'm afraid your title ended in the ditch with Tänak. Had he finished on Sunday, the title would have been yours.... Alright, I will not rub it in for longer, better luck next year! And all hail our new champion!

Thanks to Lankey for an entertaining fight during the season, I knew that I had to go all in for Japan pickems and in the end, the luck was on my side.

This was also my first "full season" in pickems here, so I'm surprised by the result and I'm very very happy too!

Hi Kradovech and Rallyper, at first, I wanted to say thanks to you guys for organising this event for us! It is nice to have this kind of a little "competition" every rally.

Thanks to Lankey for an entertaining fight during the season, I knew that I had to go all in for Japan pickems and in the end, the luck was on my side.

This was also my first "full season" in pickems here, so I'm surprised by the result and I'm very very happy too!

Thanks to Kradovech and Rallyper for making this each and every season, it's really appreciated; I'm aware it's a lot of work, it was a lot of fun this year, and also thank you for not changing your point scoring system to follow the one in the WRC ;)

With the season behind us, I have an anouncement to make. Me and Rallyper have decided to make this the last year of organizing the pickems. It has already been six years since we took over and now it is time to step back and enjoy the simpler role of a participant. I would like to thank all the participants over the years for making it an interesting journey.
We do hope that the pickems here dont end with us, hence we are making the anouncement early to find the next volunteer(s). After all this is not the first or event the second rotation of organizers. I am more than willing to share my experience and give a few tips. First one is that you may want to consider working in tandem as well. Rallyper has been responsible for opening and closing the pickems thread. It might not sound like a big thing but it for me it has meant that I had to invest just one evening over the rally weekend, not having to worry about forgetting any deadlines. I believe I have kept at it for as long as I have because of it.
About the technical part - I have been managing the results in Excel and I am willing to share my spreadsheets should there be interest. However they are only half-automated and a bit messy, one would need the basic understanding of the Excel formulas. Basically you would need the skilles to make something similar from scratch. Hardly rocket science but some experience would be needed. Even then I would need to explain what the non-automated part of the spreadsheet included.

This is what we both agreed weeks ago and we both are satisfied with the years we had.
Me too can give some advices how I used to do. It´s most about copy paste and having your calendar in your mobilephone in good shape.
