I saw that comment too! I think that his way of saying that the conditions will be quite unique and more of a challenge which I guess it will be as usual. I dont think its a case of him getting his excuses in early however trust he exercising caution again.

As a comfortable championship leader any event that famously has tricky conditions would be unwelcome I'd expect. In the same way that I'd imagine if Kalle hasn't already wrapped it up by then he would prefer Central European Rally to be a dry event.

Paddon has done perfect job so far in judging his pace and finishing all the rallies on the podium. I expect just the same in Barum, allowing others to make mistakes or have car issues / punctures. His mechanical sympathy and understanding have also been a great asset, enabling his i20 to cope really well vs the Skodas etc.

Indeed. Ironically Ingram will be in a Polo which Pryce used to win the BRC. But he switched to a Fabia in ERC and wasn't able to adapt to it quickly enough.

The maps are out. For Barum standards there is lot of changes. One completely new stage Kateřinice (circuit but a tough forest one - it's based on a then famous stage not used since 90'), some completely new sections in other stages (Pindula, Halenkovice), some long time unused roads. I really like the route!

I think that people just overestimate how much money MRF brings to the drivers. My guess would be that better driver perform the more money they get. But I don't see into it.

According to information in the media and from the fire brigade he had an accident on a public road in Vizovice (near the test stage) in which a couple on a motorbike was injured (one severly, one lighter). Per media info Wagner didn't give way to the motorbike. Its rider tried to avoid collision with Wagner but hit a truck passing in the other lane.

It's unfortunate but without this co-driver maybe there is no Lukyanuk at all. He's doing a good job considering.

At the stages it is very noticiable how he hessitates in the blind sections. He lifts and depress the throttle pedal all the time, to the extreme, in an uncommon way. I have never rebember him, or his rivals doing such thing.

I don't know if this is true, but TBH I've never heard of a driver retiring and quoting 'financial reasons' before.

Hopefully if it is a rule the Stewards will be understanding and just give him a warning.

Albert von Thurn und Taxis retired with broken fuel pump. That seems to be a very common issue for the new Fabia. In the last two ERC events it's at least a third one. Kopecký suffered one during MČR season too.

Paddon was the most mature and consistent over the season, not massive speed advantage anywhere but he was driving for the title.

Another win for Kopecky, honestly this time i'm surprised as he hasn't been so on form this year. I think Cais could have done it were it not for his small off on Saturday but Kopecky always knew how to drive safe-fast.

Focus WRC 08 is old but also has 350-400 Nm and 50-60 Hp more than any Rally2, it has an active central differential with programmable mapping while the Rally2 have no central diff at all, it has greater suspension travel and lesser unsprung weight, gear shifting on the steering wheel etc. It is still a very fast car if maintained properly (and especially when further developed like in this case).

450-500 Nm I guess but also in far higher rews than the old 2.0 WRC. Those have much higher turbo boost and therefore reach the peak torque around 2000 rpm. The Rally2 I guess have the peak torque around 3500 rpm.

He actually did catch a puncture there, but it was still extremely lucky escape.
Kopecky had a moment in that exact spot during the first run of the stage, he landed wide and went some 30 cm into the ditch aswell. He stated that during the recce there was a civilian car parked in the corner (you can see the wooden post at 0:08, and then some dirt area, not grass - thats exactly where that car was during the recce, in fact it has been parked there for a months) and that the "cut" was little bit different; but during the race as there was an empty space, the corner changed step by step and kicked more as they cut it deeper. Just to be clear, according to Kopecky it was happened 170 km/h, on a fifth gear, so again, Cais escaped that with extreme luck.
There will be video from the first pass of the stage, friend with camera was there and he has a ton of cool footage.

Funny thing is that Cais had exact same moment on the first pass, so they both had two same moments each on this stage, just in different passes.

And it's not that unusual. In Ireland some drivers continued to use their old WRC cars until recently despite not being eligible for Championship points. Garry Jennings in an Impreza S12 and Donagh Kelly in his Focus WRC won many events overall.

Just checked the rally.tv. All Barum stage onboards are in. Each stage with all drivers who had an onboard camera used for the live broadcast. I don't know if it was available in the old wrc.com or not but you can switch a map with gps position or change camers in the car.
