A new idea just introduced in Barcelona is where you have "Bike stations" at many points around the city. You sign up on the net, pay an annual fee, get a membership card, and then you can pick up a bike at one point in the city and drop it off in a different place. You have a limit of two hours per journey. Works well, at least so far, while we're still in the run up to local elections. I saved a 6€ taxi fare the other night by cycling home after a few beers.

Anyone else have this? Would it work where you live?

They are installing the stations in León right now, I think it should work since León is a much smaller place than Barcelona. I guess it will depend on the prices.

I think it is a great idea.

Yes several cities over here have it already, Cambridge being a good example. We seem to have progressed it a little further over here though, with at least two companies offering the same thing but with cars on a national basis.
