I am disappointed they removed Galdar. Now all the stages are pretty similar. Also I have an impression that year after year the shakedown is worse.

I agree with your statement about Galdar and Shakedown.

Galdar is a spectacular stage in downhill. The shakedown looks like quite straight.

By the other hand, TC2 and TC4 had not been held for a long time. Both of them, are selective stages.

In Gran Canaria, we assume that this year's entry will be considerably lower in quality and quantity than last year, when we had 40 R5 in the rally.

How many foreign drivers with R5/Rally 2 could we have this year?

Thanks.

No Mikkelsen, no Cais, no Gryazin (probably). Lukyanuk is a question mark.

Yes, Santa Lucia is back - very nice stage.

I am gonna to attend for the sixth year in a row. Love this place! Please, let us know, when the location of pre-event test will be known.

Wellcome again to Gran Canaria !!! The island known as "Miniature Continent"

It is a pity,I thought Cais came to Gran Canaria.

I wish Gryazin, Luky and many more good drivers will come here.

As far as I know, the tests will be mainly in Artenara (like in 2017, 2018 and 2019) on Tuesday, day 16.

Yes, quality and quantity will be definitely lower. Date clash with Monza, final dates for rounds in some national championships in same time (or +- one week)... So for sure no Mikkelsen, no Cais, no Gryazin, no Herczig, no Tempestini...

They confirmed Rally Hungary was their last rally they've been working together... It's because Julian will be on Monza. Chris and radio will be during Islas Canarias. Trust me;)

Similar situation was during Fafe. Julian was in Finland.

Rally is really good to spectate, I can highly recommend it. There are lot of nice places to watch, only depends on your personal taste which type of corners do you lprefer. And pre-event test day is on Tuesday, but not in Galdar.

Yes. He adds spectacle to every rally he competes in. I think that Lukyanuk and Solans are main favoutites to win this rally.

But yeah.. action places with maybe possibility to see some crashes are the one that I "hunt" usually :) because those kind of places usually offers nice driving too, and those are not so boring to spectate! Saves and driving "on the edge" is that flair why I watch rally :)

First rule on Islas Canarias - do not try to make more than one stage per section. Even if it seems possible its almost not. I've tried it in 2016, when I needed to follow "my crew". I had shit places and still did not manage. The stages are in the middle of island and configuration of route makes it hard to drive from point to point.

I would say Tejeda and Santa Lucia stages are best on Friday - mix fast road and spectacular views. 10th kilometer of Tejeda is good, Santa Lucia should be nice whole. Saturday stages are worse in my opinion but still you should be able to find sth. Onboards are available so you can judge and choose.

Jose Maria Ponce on the list. He did all the editions so far!

Yeah I was thinking that hurry from stage to stage is not an option there, so just to do this like the way I do my last Spain WRC trip couple of years ago, only relaxing without any hurry to get as many stages as I can, and managed to get couple of nice spectating spots with that tactic...

Do you mean those higher parts on Tejeda with that 10th kilometer?

Lukyanuk far ahead but good fight between Llarena and Marczyk for 2nd place (and also 2nd position in the championship).

On ERC3-Junior, Franceschi in favorable position so far with the impressive performance from Fotia. Looks difficult for Pajari to reverse the situation, may have an impact on his choice for next year (between Rally2 and Rally3 car as he has to choose for WRC and the ERC3-Junior Winner wins some Rally3 drives). But quite happy if it is Franceschi he had some setbacks in clinching a budget.

Danny0405
20th November 2021, 13:59
Big battle between Llarena and Marczyk for 2nd position in the championship standings.
If no mistake, the most probable now is Llarena 2nd and Marczyk 3rd for the rally so all will be played by the daily standing and there is only a 0.2s gap between the two today so far (Marczyk ahead): so the one who beats the other in the last stage will clinch the 2nd place in the championship (except if Llarena by 0.1s)

RS
20th November 2021, 19:54
Llarena did it in the end, a good fight between two talented young drivers.

Nice to see Luky win the final Eurosport era event of ERC, and so much happier than he was this time last year when he won the title but not the rally.

I’m a bit sad that Eurosport are exiting the rallying scene after they brought so much over the years, especially with IRC. I hope that ERC doesn’t lose it’s character and that the WRC promoter can improve the coverage moving forwards.

Now I can confirm, that official test was really around Tejeda, as I noted before. In Galdar it was completely different action - it was on Sunday and it was "farewell day" of Eurosport in ERC. It was quite top secret also for Eurosport members, thats why I was not able to write here more details before. There were two sections - one codriving skills with Alexey Lukyanuk and Laurent Pellier in Citroen C3 Rally2, in the other codriving and then driving skills in Renault Clio Rally5 together with JB Franceschi and Paulo Soria.
