I am not quite sure why it was done in Estonia, likely organisers got special dispense from FIA to do it.
because of little total kms if i remember right

Sardinia route is just five kilometers longer?!?
EDIT: Yet, it is very logical. I simply wonder why it isn't same here, maybe organisers had to take the initiative to apply for it, instead of FIA being active and proposing.

Good point, with 75% of the stages on single day it stands to reason.

Speculative...., and there's a lot of rallying to go...., but if Thierry can get past Teemu, things could be looking better for his championship again. Hyundai could even make Sordo hand him the win and if Evans is down in 5th etc, championship could be back on for the Belgian going to Ypres and Monza.
I'm sure a lot more twists and turns to come

I think Ogier and Evans both will take Teemu. Tänak probably is too far away and with bad road position to spice it up more.

I was thinking about that, would Hyundai do that as it would go against Tanak who is also the fight? Difficult choice for Adamo.
Manufacture points most important to him.

This time I understand him. In Estonia they changed the starting order for the afternoon loop on friday, this time not, why?
Estonia was driven in a shorter format, forest stages only on Saturday and Sunday. There's even an article on this in the sporting regulations.
Turkey also:
"Saturday is the longest leg of the weekend and is unchanged from 2019. It journeys west of Marmaris and packs 107.38km into three tests, which are driven morning and afternoon. The loops are divided by service, during which the running order of the top drivers will be reversed".
This is not true. Only the two stages on Friday were driven in championship order and then Friday standings were reversed for whole Saturday.

Look at the stickers on the car. It's his family business. But I'm not complaining. Without that sponsorship, no one would drive that third car.

At the end of the day’s final stage, where Ogier was beaten by Nicolas Ciamin’s Citroën C3 R5, Ogier said: “It’s just ridiculous. It’s nothing new. Rally is [an] amateur sport and will remain an amateur sport until it’s managed in a professional way.”
Discussing the matter further with DirtFish, Ogier added: “Honestly I don’t want to go on more about it. I say what I think because I always say what I think. I’ve lost too much time and energy in the past fighting this, so I don’t want to enter this discussion again. But it’s a shame for our sport, because that’s killing it and not giving it the chance to grow and make nice battles like we had in the last rallies and that’s the way it is.
“My career is mainly behind me and I don’t want to lose any more energy fighting that. I’m happy with my day, I did everything I could. It’s been pretty good performance from our side and I think I did a good job against the guy I was fighting with.
“This afternoon was worst than I thought it would be – it’s hard when you see R5 cars are nearly beating you on the last stage, what can you do?”
In the previous events – the so-called short-form, two-day events in Estonia and Turkey – the running order has been swapped at the end of the first morning.
based Rally Estonia. Ogier said Italy should have followed the previous plan.
“On the last rally, everybody said: ‘Ah, it’s nice now, it’s disadvantaging the leaders, but not too much they still have the chance to fight their way back.’ I think in the paddock more or less everybody is agreed we should stay on that.
“Everybody loved the timing of the more compact rally, but somehow we still get stuck where we’ve always been. It’s a shame, but that’s the way it is.”
Evans agreed with Ogier and admitted he could sympathize with his team-mate.
“I was pretty p***** off, I think you can see that at the end of that loop,” he said. “It’s pretty frustrating when you have no chance to fight at all with the guys behind you and he’s had six years of this. Maybe my feelings aren’t quite as strong as his, but I can see how he ends up in that frame of mind if he’s had six years of this.”
Saturday’s reversed running order means the fourth and fifth placed Ogier and Evans will run eighth and seventh on the road.

nice info regarding Neuville copying Sordos set up
“Obviously there were some new settings after the test, I tried it one run on shakedown but the setting obviously wasn’t right,” Neuville told DirtFish at the end of the day.
“Dani has driven it since this morning, so I decided to jump over and use part of his settings, change the gearbox as well. Obviously it worked much better.”

That would also mean helping Ogier in the battle for the championship, anyway too early to say what will happen. They'll probably let them all push on and see what's on the table before the powerstage.

So - the BIG question:
Does Tommi dare putting Evans ahead of Ogier?
Lead (We know what Adamo will do...)
No way Ogier would accept that when he still has chance for the title himself, and Tommi has not shown any inclination to make team orders anyway.
The difficult one is if Hyundai ask Sordo to let Neuville past, but with such a small gap to Ogier would be dangerous now.
For Evans, 4th is good if Ogier is only 3rd and especially if Sordo wins..
er88
10th October 2020, 11:54
Neuville HAS to go for it, he needs to increase the gap to Ogier if he wants Hyundai to drop Sordo behind him tomorrow.
With the gap between Neuville and Ogier so small, it's impossible for Hyundai to drop Sordo behind Thierry without losing a place to Ogier as well.

Media Zone: Sordo
"A really good feeling. The first stage was a bit more difficult but the second and fourth stages were quite okay.
"I am only watching the battle for the rally and trying to do the best as possible. I see Thierry and Seb coming quite fast, so we need to keep pushing to the end."
Media Zone: Suninen
"We had a few issues with the central diffs, so basically my handbrake was working for the front wheels and I couldn't rotate the car on the hairpins.
"The others are not too far away, but of course we have to have good stages and no mistakes to catch them. We will do our best."
Media Zone: Neuville
"We have a bit more tyre wear than the Toyotas, so I played it a bit safe. Maybe I struggled a little bit in the first loop - I expected to be faster - but we gave it a bigger push in the second pass and it worked quite well.
"The rally is still long with repeated stages this afternoon and a tricky day tomorrow."

That would also mean helping Ogier in the battle for the championship, anyway too early to say what will happen. They'll probably let them all push on and see what's on the table before the powerstage.
I´m not arguing for this, but...
Letting Neuville win he gaines 7 points going from 2nd to 1st, and Ogier gaines only 3 points, from 3rd to 2nd...

This has been the standard on gravel rallies for a while.
With 5 "sections" you can have 5 fresh tires in every "section" (after service), 2x friday, 2x saturday, 1 sunday
If you take 6 at some point and "rotate" them during the section so that they get worn you will have to run on a few used tires on sunday. But usually not all tires are that used and most of sunday is cruising for a lot of people so that running on 1 or 2 slightly used tires is not a problem.

Starting position advantage throughout the whole rally. Today the advantage is basically gone.
Sent from my GM1913 using TapatalkI don't agree with that time loss being down to that. There was one car between Sordo and Neuville yesterday. Two between him and Ogier.
Yet he lost 12s in one stage this morning, which was double what he lost to Neuville in the whole of yesterday.

When Neuville sends it, there's not much better in rallying. When he goes for it I'm always reminded of that Golden Stage in Cyprus in 2011.
