Hyundai does seem "softer" than before with much more diving into corners. Still much less than Toyota, but there seems to be a change, even compared with Sweden, not to mention gravel last year. I saw they changed dampers, maybe something else too.

EstWRC

2nd imo is very doable. Maybe catching Ogier will be tough because he will have better road position tomorrow

depends where he ends today, i guess he will pass Rovanpera and maybe Evans too, i doubt about Lappi

E: well maybe he can pass Lappi too, he was over 20 secs faster than him over 2 stages in the morning

but rally is still long.

Old connections has been fine. But if you started the stream after the problems started, it doesn't. I attempted open another tab earlier to see, and I got the error. But my running stream has been fine. Explains why it has only been a problem for some.

the road to service is short, Evans basically already there so no problem with that

he must go all out afternoon to get a good starting pos for tomorrow, the gap now went big after this short stage

WRC+ is a good idea. Last year it was kind of accetable, chrased less. This year WRC+ is terrible. It is so glitchy, works onli half of time. Website is slow with a lot of problems. Splits are super glitchy, works only half of time. Design of splits is way worse then last year, no more colorful + an - splits. Conclusion - WRC+ is way worse than last year, worse design and chrashes a lot. I would not want to be a guy responsible for this.

I have seen McRae's Focus burning down in Finland and you can't put that sort of fire out. Even the fire squad in Finland didn't succeed. Once the fire takes control it's game over. And it goes so quickly. Nothing you can do about it.

It was right below the middle-rear of the car.... likely some (carbon?) parts touching the exhaust. That would need constant soaking by water over longer time to stop. Like Veiby had in Portugal last year when he stopped right next to a fire truck.

There was no fire truck at the end of this stage.

Probably something like this...

1. They couldn't start SS8 cause they had no fire truck (since the one at start went to Lappi)

2. They waited so long for deciding what to do with SS8 and were already 10 min late from before SS7 that the whole timeplan was so late that they had to cancel ss9 as well.

I made my post when it was announced that ss8 is cancelled too.

About day one. Ogier again showing why he is the king of this rally, he is so good here and only a technical failure can prevent him winning.

Awesome performance by Suninen too, I really hope he can keep it up today.

Evans did well on his first day as a cleaner, I thought he will be faster on the afternoon loop.

Good recovery from Tänak, shame about the little mistake and that ss8 was cancelled. Didn’t use his good chance to lead this rally and admits it himself to Estonian media.

Rovanperä also very good, Very very good.

About today? I wouldn’t be surprised if there is Toyota 1-2-3 by the end of the day.

At the moment, I don't know more about the problems encountered. In the end, we were without a battery and the car stopped suddenly. We already had an alarm before so we suspected there was a little problem with the alternator or something like that. The car suddenly cut. It is disappointment that prevails. However, I think we did the work from the first stage. We attacked, we had three best times. Despite a position on the road that was not optimal, we were fighting for victory. We'll be leaving on Saturday to try to get points in the Power Stage and for the constructors' classification, "said Thierry Neuville at our microphone.

Before continuing: "With the race facts, there are a few cars that will not start on Saturday. We are still 6th in terms of constructors, these are important points for the team. We know that the rally is tough, the others can also have problems. Today, in any case, the glitches were for us. We will have a better position on the road in the next rallies, we will easily catch those in front of us. " Rtbf

"I don't believe in bad luck (note: Sordo suffered from radiator problems and Tanak went wrong at the start of the day). It's not that nothing is right. we made mistakes today and we're paying the bill. We made mistakes that we shouldn't make if we want to win the world championship. When you see a pipe coming out and a water leak or when a mechanical part breaks, these are things that should not happen, "said Andrea Adamo to our microphone.

"I don't know what happened with Neuville. He was in 3rd position, he had a good race, as he usually does. On Saturday, he will be in the situation where he can attack even more. Maybe that it won’t work. I brought the team together because it’s important to talk and say things to each other. Was it to encourage them or to put things right? Sometimes I feel alone and I don’t I need no one around me, "said the director of Hyundai Motorsport.

I think so, but might shoot themselves in the foot for manu points if an M-Sport car retires with 4 stages of the day to go. Delicate desicion.

This belief in Tänak topic. I have belief in Tänak, but at the moment not that much in "Tänak and Hyundai" combination.

Additionally to Tänak's good driving, times were good because of good starting position. Mistake in shakedown, mistake in SS4, and he admits that relationship with car is complicated.

It will be interesting to see, what Evans can now do from better start position - how much it is different. The same with Suninen - can he keep the pace with equal road conditions.
