For those forum members thinking about attending Rally NZ could I suggest that you drop me a private message with your e-mail address and a list of things that you would like to see and do during your vacation here and I will give you some assistance with planning etc. There are also a number of Kiwi's on the forum who I am sure would enjoy helping you or hosting you whilst you were in their districts during your travels before and/or after the event.

For those who would like to be part of the event as a marshal or similar could I suggest that you head to www.rallynewzealand.com and sign up

Just like Mk2 RS2000 I too am happy to assist international visitors with their plans to attend Rally NZ 2020. You can expect a very warm welcome.

Since the WRC has been on the east coast of OZ, we haven't missed an event (9 occasions). We are officials and we will be manning a FF this year. Our plan will be to travel to RNZ and hopefully officiate in some capacity.

Thank you both! I will follow up this topic for sure. Would love to come and spectate Rally New Zealand next year, even if that means dropping nearly all other events in favor of this one. Will probably decide about it by March next year.

I understand that Gary Boyd will supply umbrella's to those who need them during the event :)

Very good chance Whaanga Coast stage will be part of the itinerary.

Has to be in there. It's the one they rave about on the coverage!

With funding coming from Auckland and it hosting the service park (and with remote services having fallen entirely out of favour), is it not likely that the itinerary will be largely similar to 2012? https://www.rally-maps.com/Rally-New-Zealand-2012

Another Kiwi here who is happy to help with trip advice.

I'm at the opposite end of the country from the rally so I'm not too familiar with that particular area, but if anyone is visiting the lower South Island as well while they are in NZ I may be able to help.

Without remote service it would be hard to keep those stages though, can't exactly pop back to Auckland for mid-day service...

Where did you hear that Auckland is hosting the Service Park? The rumours I have heard say that the Service Park will be at Hampton Downs Raceway (was a remote service before) with Hamilton being the host city. Yes, It makes a long liaison to Whangarei (likely only using the southern stages there), but it avoids the traffic jams of Auckland and provides short liaisons for two days around Whanga Coast and Rotorua? Any Kiwis heard anything about the proposed itinerary.

From the official Rally NZ website! :D In the FAQ section:

Q. WHERE WILL THE ROUTE GO?
A. The route will be confirmed in the coming months after approval from the FIA. The route will be accessible from our Auckland based service park, with the location of this to also be announced in the coming months.

ATEED (Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development agency) is a major funder and will require HQ & Service Park within Auckland City. This article by a well respected Rallying journalist in NZ explains some possible stage options. There are many more options not mentioned in this article. Some exciting options for Service Park and Super Special Stage locations are already under consideration.

I can imagine them wanting to use the Whaanga Coast for the power stage. Plus, no traffic on a Sunday morning would presumably help a long run down to there...
