"The busy days are coming from Catalonia with the reflection and implementation of my 2019 program," said the winner of the last rally in Spain, and of course, there is the preparation of the Dakar that will come to great It's pretty simple to come back to my decision to take part in the 2019 Dakar Rallycross, I could not sleep with the jet lag, I was browsing the social networks and I am came across a MINI video that was preparing for the Dakar and I thought, "Well, it could be nice to go play with them and try to tickle them a bit!", but at that moment, I I did not doubt that Peugeot was also going to withdraw from the rallycross. When I heard the announcement of their withdrawal a few days later, I told myself that at least I will race in 2019! "

"Going there without any pressure, as private, with the sauce" Loeb-Elena ", really tempted me and motivated me, took again the nine times World Rally Champion. has not often been an outsider in my career and it's a feeling that I like for this adventure. We do not really set a goal.It is above all to please. had to have more resources, be it on the refurbishment of the new car every morning, the human resources, the logistical means, but we will still be well surrounded! At the level of preparation cons, we will inevitably leave with a disadvantage, without being able to ride in competition before the start, for lack of time.We will only make a few tries. Finally, the regulation does not allow a "top driver" to ride with the 3008 DKR Maxi this year I am not sure of being a "top driver" in rally raid but I did not have the right! So we will have the 3008 DKR of 2017. I have no idea what it will give against the MINI and the Toyota of 2018. "

Any news about Robby Gordon?

RG in the Baja 1000 2018 - blew the engine in the trophy truck about half way through when running quite strongly (probably a good top ten finish was possible)

RG for Dakar Rally 2019 - the usual - probably paid an entry fee, but waiting for the full sponsorship budget to do the event before confirming shortly before the event start whether participation is going to happen. Entries closed for Dakar 2019 closed on the 1st of November 2018. Dakar organisers may have reserved numbers and expect to see a TBA (to be announced, advised etc) for the names/ vehicles when an entry list is posted.
RG possible in a (1,2,3?)small team of Textron OffRoad/ Arctic Cat UTVs, if the plan comes together.

Edit Robby Gordon was running both the trophy truck and a UTV in the Baja 1000. Infield communication is not great at the Baja 1000

The RG speed Trophy Truck finished 18th, had diff issues that needed to be fixed at 515 miles with Cole Potts driving. RG drove to 480 miles, was in 6th and 12 minutes down, before the handover at race mile 480.

The textron utvs (3) had issues and did not finish. from planet robby facebook

but Harry Hunt is driving wide-body.

Why is that like this ?

If I remember correctly, in the case of privateers the organizers decided which car they could use. They deemed Loeb too good to use the 3008 Maxi, so he has to drive the 3008 instead. But the Sheikh or Hunt were not seen as good (obviously), so they can drive with the Maxi...

Is this a factory entry or Mitsu just testing?
Anyone knows where the turbo diesel engine is from?
Dont think they have their own which is suitable for the Dakar.

Guess the "Mitsubishi Eclipse" is a rebodied Sodicars BV6 for Guiterrez? with a BMW 3 litre twin turbo engine, just a Ralliart Spain marketing exercise? (looks like it needs a bit more aero design work)

The second part of the marathon stage between Tacna and Arequipa started even before the start of the first car competitors by Daniel Elena's punch.
Sébastien Loeb's co-driver, who competed on the Peugeot 3008 DKR - PH Sport, did not mince words about the Dakar organization, pointing out an error in the road-book. Sébastien Loeb had already mentioned the subject at the arrival of the stage before yesterday between San Juan de Marcona and Arequipa, explaining to a large extent his heavy loss of time.
"It's back to a new stage ... without any motivation! All know that if I'm in the tub this morning, it's for Seb and in the name of our friendship, for our partners, for the team and for you, our fans, says Daniel Elena on social networks.
When I make a mistake, I recognize it. I have always recognized him and I can be proud to be someone right. I am extremely disappointed to see that the people who manage an event with the reputation of the Dakar are not able to. I am a novice perhaps in their eyes in Rally Raid.
What about my experienced colleagues who also saw this error in the road book? Know the organizers, that my head is not here but already in Monte Carlo and that my next month of January will not happen with you, but the Africa Eco Race, because yes, your discipline is a beautiful discipline . "
Now we have to wait for ASO's reaction on this point.

Here You can see how You can provisionally repair a completely collapsed and broken suspension of a truck in dunes (and some driver's health issues before that): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7Enh_beM58
Here in Kamaz video You can see how it happened (a sudden drop on a straight): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T433NVYzHLs&feature=youtu.be&t=183

Pity but the main thing is they can hopefully continue (waiting still for some penalisation for several missing WP after repair).

Karginov was disqualified for driving away from an incident with a spectator. He drove into a group of spectators and rolled over one of them (he got away with "only" a broken leg). Karginov said he didn't see he hit someone. Hard to judge without an onboard. Video of the incident is in the same Kamaz video @ 5:07: https://youtu.be/T433NVYzHLs?t=307

@ dimviii: Macík said there was a hole so that the whole truck landed only on one wheel and the suspension collapsed. It's 10 tons heavy thing after all...

I tried.

Xavi Colomé, responsible for the roadbook, has given his part of the explanations on the situation where one of the thumbnails (the dot and arrow in one of the "boxes") could cause confusion. "The truth is that we've received critics on the roadbook, especially for the third stage, where Loeb-Elena and other participants were lost. At this place, it's true there was something not precise on the roadbook. In particular at km 177, there's an electricity pole very visible which is a good reference point, which a lot of competitors have used to compare the kilometers (on their tripmaster vs roadbook) and continued. The eletricity pole wasn't at this point, but earlier, at 175,01kms." "It's this that has caused the confusion and the mistake in kilometers the drivers have taken as reference to continue the stage. The distances between the checkpoints and the stages, the roads are correct. But what caused confusion was the position of the electricity pole." Until now, we haven't received a question to fix the mistake in time, as it was same for all drivers. "The analysis has been made by the commissioners and they've decided that this mistake in roadbook was same for all drivers, so any lost time could not be given back. Also, those who have taken the electricity pole as reference point were lost and those who haven't used it were on the right track without problem."

Also Ricky Brabec is out from the leading position with broken engine and Svitko is out injured from an accident. Not a good day for bikers.

Shame when the official website reports about Svitko as about Czech rider when he is Slovak...

There are some strange times for the Semi category ("superally" crews). They say that had same route as cars and trucks but by their times Terranova would be fastest of all half an hour ahead of Loeb and Macík would by fastest trucker half an hour ahead of Sotnikov. This isn't possible I think.

It seems that this may have been caused by a thick fog in the morning. The late starting "Semi" crews may have not encountered it at all.

probably transmission=driveshaft

"I think we were doing a really good stage, pushing hard from the start, but at kilometre 250 or something like this we had a broken transmission. We had to change it, it's quite tough to do, but we have a spare one, so we changed it. Maybe we made a little mistake, we lost a lot of time trying to put a clips. Finally, we decided to go like this and it broke again, so we had to wait for Pierre [Lachaume] to give us his spare transmission. We changed it again, [it took] a long time and now we're here. That's just the way it is."
