Well, it was a quiet start to this year's championship with only two registered crews finishing last weekend's Rally of Whangarei. However, biggest Service Park talking point was that the Proton works team would be returning to APRC this year, possibly as early as next round (Rally of Canberra), which is beginning of June. Personally, I doubt that timing as its homologation is not scheduled to be completed by then.

What homologation were the Mitsubishi (sweden?) running in the APRC under? The Cusco Yaris (Young) has a 2 litre turbo lexus engine in it, what rulebook is that in?
Proton could fill out some paperwork to run their R5 in the Aus Rally Championship section (not eligible for points etc)?

At last year's APRC Rd1 Pre-event Scrutineering IIRC the Mirages had to have several things corrected before they could pass. I believe, the Yaris is subject to a 'special' dispensation until such time as TRD can supply a 1.6 litre engine.

Personally I don't understand the reason APRC were hit with such a low entry...maybe the cost?

Logistics costs are currently the most expensive among all FIA Championships, but there are plans to reduce them, this year. I expect other teams to join APRC from Round 2.

In previous years there was at least the MRF Škoda team as an attraction but now when they are gone there is really not much of a value for the organizers coming from the APRC.

APRC should try and get the Proton Iriz r5 team to do a year in APRC rather wrc2, if the homologation goes ahead on the 1st december 2018

Someone in malaysia said that they expect MEM to debut the Iriz in Malaysia, but nothing confirmed

In case anyone missed the big news. Yuya Sumiyama won the 2018 APRC.
First FIA rally title for that part of the world for a while?
