Hello, friends! Welcome to this year's edition to FGP. As always everything you need can be found here: https://sites.google.com/site/2009fgp/home.
I still have to make some changes to the race pages, mainly adding France and subtracting Malaysia ( :( )

If you wish to join our humble band here is what you need to do:

- Name your team
- Go to the price list - https://sites.google.com/site/2009fgp/home/price-list and choose the following:
- two drivers from the Driver list.
- one chassis from the Chassis list
- one team engine from the Engine list
- one reserve driver that is NOT on the Driver list. Do not flub this as this 3rd driver could come in handy, just ask those who had Kvyat and Gasly last season!
- A Grand Prix that will server as your bonus - your teams points will be doubled for this GP.

Once done come back here and post it so I can add it to the Teams page on the site.
Then watch the season and comment here on how good (or bad) your team is doing!

Thanks as always and I look forward to this season.

Well, I already know what my team consists of so I might as well not wait any longer:

POSF1 Sponsored by HP has, through threats, bribes (did I say that?), and other nefarious means have convinced these people/organizations to join up with the POS:

Driver 1 - Max Verstappen
Driver 2 - Fernando Alonso
Driver 3 - Jensen Button
Chassis - McLaren
Engine - Red Bull-TAG Heuer
GP - Austria

Let's hope we finish in the top ten this time, people!

They had the best chassis last year! Alonso said so!

As long as they're in the mix with RBR, I should be fine.

Merc/Merc/Alonso are a stronger package though, but Sauber won't be fast enough to be in the points every race, so I can't be on Leclerc.

Yes the reserve driver is mandatory.

Buddy, how does this thing work. Especially since most people are mixing chassis with other engines. This is my first time so be patient with me.

N. Jones
6th March 2018, 20:22
No problem.

You pick a team that adds up to 48 - two drivers, one 3rd driver, and a chassis and engine. The reason the engine is now team specific is because we no longer have many engines to choose from. Since there are basically four engines to choose from changing this to team specific, mclaren-renault, for instance, gives us more options in selecting a team.
You Do Not have to choose the same team for chassis and engine (and for drivers). You can mix and match whatever you want so long as your team does not goes over the 48,000,000 million budget cap.

Does that explanation help?

Great, l got that much. What l don't get is how do you workout if you are winning or losing. Do you tally up the drivers actual race points after each race or is it based on the chassis or engine?

Great, l got that much. What l don't get is how do you workout if you are winning or losing. Do you tally up the drivers actual race points after each race or is it based on the chassis or engine?

Points are awarded throughout the race weekend and are detailed below:
Only the first chassis and engine that crosses the line scores points for your team.
Driver, Chassis, and Team Engine scores are 1st-10th: 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1.
Drivers who do the following receive extra points:
For the driver who obtains the pole position he will be rewarded with 2 extra points.
The driver with the fastest lap at the conclusion of a race is rewarded with 1 extra point.

Once your team is set please visit the forum and post your team there. They will be moved into the Teams page as they show up on the forum.

Aki's Racing Team (ART) has sadly lost the Flora sponsor for 2018 and has been unable to create a new sponsor from anywhere. Thus the team name will change to Aki's Racing Teams Arrows or ARTA for 2018. The new team look will see the team retain their blend of Mercedes and Ferrari for a strong campaign. After 3rd & 2nd in the last two championships.

The team have announced their two drivers as legend Fernando Alonso and Piere Gasly.

Name: Aki's Racing Teams Arrows
1st: Alonso 6
2nd: Gasly 5
3rd: Oliver Turvey 1
Chassis: Mercedes 20

Aki's Racing teams Arrows look back at their history in the FGP championship.

The story started in 2011 when the team failed to meet the deadline for entering the 2011 FGP season. Following a season of testing and work on team structure 2012 saw the team make a debut.

2012 saw Aki Racing Team (ART) unable to gain sponsorship before the season started. Thus running on low funds the team struggled at the start of the season. However enjoyed a good run and finishing 32nd of 55 entries in year 1 was a solid start to life midfield.

2013 arrived and sponsorship in the shape of Hedgehog gutter brush. Forming the new look Aki's Hedgehog Racing Team. (AHRT) The team spent big on drivers securing Jenson Button & Valterri Bottas. However spending on high rated drivers lead to a Sauber chassis which endured an average season, coupled with Bottas Williams being poor and the Mercedes engine couldn't save the season. 2013 ended with AHRT finishing the season in 43rd of 46.

2014 arrived and with Hedgehog still in the name the AHRT aimed high with a Mercedes chassis. However the Mclaren engine was a let down. Ricciardo was a top first driver but Maldonado added very little. However after the terrible backmarker season of 2013, it was a relief for the team to secure a midfield position of 15th of 32.

2015 arrived with a new sponsorship. Twix bringing money to ART. Making them Twix's Aki Racing Team (TART:D) and finally the team leapt into Championship contention. Raikkonen, Gutierrez, Ferrari and Mercedes gave the team a real shot. The TART narrowly missed out on the title to Henners F1. Finishing 2015 as runners up.

After the highs of 2015, 2016 was a disappointment. Once again Twix offered partnership. Mercedes & Ferrari were good performers again but Alonso & Gutierrez let the team down. Finishing 9th of 27 was a let down.

2017 saw the TART team return to the top. Battling with Tazio all season for the championship before falling to 3rd by the seasons end. The Mercedes & Ferrari engine combo keeping them team high and Massa & Ocon adding sensational points.

Just so all of you know , we at the Money Bag team are sitting here by the fine Corinthian leather lined swimming pool with all the out of work grid girls , having a blast with the money we saved on the team .

We knew we'd be giving you cats a head start , but we scored valuable points we know will come in very handy later as we battle to bring a heavy underdog into the midfield .
Every position we take up the ladder will be a "Cinderella" story , and the majority of the racing fans out there will surely be fully behind us .

The girl I've got writing the story for the obvious book and later movie about the whole experience of filming it all for "The Reality TV Network" has been instructed to make us look good so that we keep ratings up so that we can keep replacing the champagne in the pool because no bubbles makes it almost pointless , ya know ?

One episode and all the drivers will want to join our team .
You'll see .

The problem is due to Google Sites. The new site doesn't allow for copying in a table, so I have to manually format everything - mighty irritating.

So - I created a new page back at the old Google Sites... and forgot to make the page public for all!

At this point the entire top 5 or 10 could still shake up quite a lot. Both of us could end up near the top with good bonus GP races. Even more interesting is that the top few steps have essentially every combination of Ferrari, Mercedes, and RB in the teams. I think the FGP 2018 podium is going to be even tighter at the top than the actual WDC battle is going to be!

I'm now at 9th place before my bonus GP. It's going to take a great points finish in the US to match or beat Tazio, but the top 3 is within reach if Mercedes keep up the trend. But anything below about 40 points and it's just going to keep me in the top 5 or so. With such a variation of teams this year, I think the standings still have a lot of shaking up to do.

I hope your bonus GP turns out better than mine did. Taking a win when it's only 60 total points at a bonus GP is a fairly hollow victory!

I'll be lucky if I can stay in the top 10 now. You are the last one with a shot at the top 3, and with the split Mercedes/Ferrari team, you might be in good shape to stay there.

Red Bull winning my bonus GP, destroyed any chances I had for a podium finish

Join the club of bad bonus GP races. We meet in the paddock bar area, drink our blues away, and watch the race winners celebrate. It's not any fun, but more fun than watching it sober.

This year has had a lot of surprises, and I'm not even sure the podium for FGP is sorted out yet.

Damn. I have a good race and what did I get for it?
I started 17th overall. After Mexico - 17th overall.
I guess I am resigned to the bottom of the pack again.

I crawled back up to 5th.

Tazzy whooped us all with a bonus GP score that made it hard to even take a shot at him. Well played Taz!

Plenty of action this year, and a lot of different team combinations did well. I hope next season gives us such a spread.

Thanks for all the hard work N. Jones, I enjoy it every year!

Congrats to Tazio for the win! And big thanks to N.Jones for organizing the whole thing again. Good job!

My team just made it to the top 10. Decent result. After being 2nd in 2016, my results have been on a downhill slope. Try to do better next year!
