What you guys think of that thread. What's is your opinion what manufacturer could bring their machinery into top game.

Mine is Nissan with Micra perhaps.
Or Fiat with their newly Argo

Kia?

Part of Hyundai group, why would they.

Tarmop
8th October 2017, 21:05
Well, it is basically Hyundai, so i can`t see the point. Anyway too expensive for most of the manufacturers. Pretty much all of the manufactures present in WRC are threatened by a fine, reaching billions of euros, because they don`t have the technology for new emissions rule from 2020(21?).

FIA might encourage someone like SAIC (MG brand)to do similar to what Proton are doing with their R5 car https://youtu.be/b_nZaHe16rU https://youtu.be/8AG-gVbZBVY . MG 3 has 2520 mm wheelbase which is stage rally wb. 1500cc turbo engine std pruction or reduce capacity on 1800cc block etc.,

I am ;) I heard that Mitsubishi have a vision in motorsport but I think that not in rally, maybe in raid because they are focusing only on SUV's.

wasnt OPEL interested?
ANyway... I think it'd be more interesting to have more of those MSport/Ford & AbuDhabi/Ctiroen partnerships, right? Like... FIAT AF-Corse, BMWMini ProDrive, VW Qatar/RedBull, The american SUBARU team...
like with the R5 cars? Sorry. Idk much about the R5 cars thing... or the TCR program too (almost free costumer cars racing touringcar series all over the world)

Problem with Opel nowdays is, that they are part of PSA group. Maybe compete, maybe not.

I don't think the Audi is a Dytko car as they have not yet built the Audi set up. That is from an Estonian company.

"Audi" is not AP4, not Dytko and didnīt sound like Mitsu... Very different sound that "Polo" with mitsu engine. (I was in Saarenmaa)

Itīs made in Estonia.

I thought it was the Skoda R5 engine, but could be something else.

I have read somewhere in FB (i think it was Margus Murakas page) that it has original S1 TFSI 2.0T engine.

Tarmop

Yes, based on S1 OE, tuned to 335bhp/595nm. Because the gearbox wasn`t ready, a S1 stock was used this time, so 4wd probably also Quattro. Chassis was made by Reinsalu sport in Estonia. Real shame we couldn`t see what it was capable of as Murakas retired for some unknown reasons after SS3...was going quite slow until then (although didn`t mention if something was wrong with the car).Only Dytko is Aus`s Polo, based on an Evo X. Koik and Kaur use also Reinsalu built Fiesta R5 replica shells with Evo equipment, i believe they used their old cars, an Evo VIII and Evo IX as donors.

Offtopic but Murakas said that he chose not to start on 2nd day as engine didnt produce needed power. Add here standard gearbox, and he probably simply wasn enjoying enough. One question though - i havent monitored technical requirements of these classes - what limitations there are for this kind of one-off "prototype" cars? From outside this one has several visual cues from current WRC cars, can it in theory be developed to be comparable also in speed?

Tarmop
17th October 2017, 12:21
Probably yes, if you put a lot of know-how and equipment (money :D) into it. But in order to make it fast everywhere and also reliable, the cost will be about the same as a used WRC. It`s quite free apart from safety.

No WRC plans for Opel i know. But was a nice looking car in the service park in Trier, would like to see it on the stages.

Agree - some people are seemingly unaware what manufacturers motorsport interests are. A lot listed here have no interest in rallying....

There isn't. Of course this might change, as auto manufacturers are evaluating their competition programs all the time. Still, as we have already 3 official and 1 semi-official team involved, the situation is quite good. Should WRC lose any of them, suddenly it is not so good...

As Asian, i really want to see another manufacturers join the championship. I know there are Hyundai & Toyota, but somehow their presence doesn't give enough value to Asian rallying
