ERC2 is dead anyway just like gr.N cars. It won't help it to become less useless than it is now. Honestly I have no idea why they keep holding a championship for gr.N cars anymore.

So, they will do 6 events with BRR Fabia: Azores, Canarias, Acropolis, Cyprus, Italy, Barum, Poland and Latvia. On top of this, they will do Veszprém as well. Bacigál couldn't take on this many events, hence why the switch of co-drivers.

Let's hope they are not banned before the end of the season! I doubt Peugeot UK would dare associate themselves with them in the current climate.

Surprising news to switch to Peugeot. That probably hands him a disadvantage vs. the opposition but they have given him a great programme so thumbs up from me.

Yes, he will probably lose a few seconds because of the car, but on the other hand - 14 rallies a year in an R5 car doesn't happen very often in the life of a private driver :)

A verdade é que em todo o mundo há organizações menos competentes ou pilotos menos talentosos, não são um exclusivo nacional. O panorama dos ralis no nosso país não é perfeito mas é positivo. É um absurdo estar sempre a criticar, sobretudo num espaço como este, em que naturalmente (e não bacocamente) todos tendem a ser nacionalistas por uma simples razão: se não tentamos valorizar o que é nosso, ninguém o fará por nós.

I think that Mareš will start (with ASN backing) with R5 mostly at home soil. The new guy for the junior R2 has zero experience with anything. He has to start at home as well.

He also was a spectacular rally driver, not very succesful, but he was loved by the fans. I met him at Jänner Rallye 1983.

Really happy to see Freddie Ahlin move to ERC. He impressed often in his two season's in the BRC and really should have won it last year.

It will be a pretty steep learning curve this year though, doing all the events for the first time, plus on Dmacks which can be hit and miss...

Very big the absence of kajto,but the new drivers are very good so many champions in their countries U28 Rally champion U27 Rally champion ,second in British Rally championchip and we wait for other good announcements yet,so the ERC 2018 is much stronger than ERC 2017

So it sounds like Ingram will use his prize money to buy himself a Fabia R5 for the first two rounds and then hope to find the budget for the rest of the season.

Would be better if he could have already put a programme together for the whole year but hopefully he will do well in the first two events and be able to build on that.

Maybe Skoda UK could join Skoda Slovakia and Skoda Deutschland and help out their local crew.

We will see. Roko Airplanes will support him also in ERC for sure. There was plan to do full czech championship, but date collission between Valasska x Azores and Hustopece x Cyprus make the things worse. Despite organisers of both czech events knew from September about this date clash, they didnt want to change date...

There are talks about Saaremaa date matching to the possible Tanak participation. That's why organizers don't want/can not move Saaremaa date.

Approximately what is the value of the JERC U28 prize (drive in 2016 spec WRCar on WRC event)?

The prize drives for the junior categories have been generally a good idea, it just seems a little unfair that the overall winner of ERC gets nothing!

It is possibility to start with WRC car and show your potential to the teams in WRC. But it is possible to arrange that prize in different way, like Marijan used it for this year - they moved budget from WRC car to starts in ERC with R5.

This is why I asked Pluto about the monetary value of Griebel's U28 prize.. I would have thought it was more than 100,000 Euros which buys the U27 winner two events.

I am worried Griebel has 'done a Bergqvist' and potentially damaged his career by going for the Peugeot. Fine for the national championship, but for ERC??

I wonder how he managed to get a drive in the i20 with support from Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing - last year he couldn't afford some tyres without crowd-funding ! ;)

Good point! I have no idea how he managed it. He says they were working very hard to get this drive.
There is another Polish driver, Lukasz Byskiniewicz, who is also going to drive i20 R5 (but in Polish championship), so maybe they joined forces and will share the car or something. Livery looks almost identical :)

Alexey Lukyanuk can win easily all rally’s except of Cyprus Rally,because I think the battle is 50-50 with legend Nasser Al-Attiyah.Also the battle with Jan Kopecký is 50-50....what is your opinion?

For Barum Kopecký is the favorite but for sure this year Lukyanuk will have a lot of experience from Czech rallies and Barum itself and it's likely that he will be stronger than ever.

Finally some good news! Doctors here in Istanbul say my blood levels are getting better and I should feel more normal in another week or two!

Just watched my first ERC on the internet... I got curious. IDK if ERC is always like that, but shouldnt this stage's format be used in WRC? Again, Im new to this and I may have got it wrong cuz I watched the videos in czech, but could this 3 stages on the "regular" direction then the same 3 on reverse direction work in WRC? Also, the stages look more close to each other.
Anyway... noob question, sorry! haha Cheers.

I don't think that running same stages in both directions is a good idea. It's more a way out of trouble to build a route but hardly an ideal solution. There are plenty of problems coming out of that.

Chris said they were considering Finland but decided It's probably best to give it a miss this year as it'd be the 4th event in a row, and he'd have no time to prepare for it or do a proper test. He needs to focus on Rome but may just recce Finland.
