Anyone heading out to it? I wouldn't mind going out, its interesting but then its not yet a WRC round so perhaps add it to my calendar next year with again NZ, Japan and some others :)

I hope it does get be a well run event. I am a firm believer that for the WRC to be a WORLD championship, they must have an event in each of the FIA Regions. The Middle East has missed out for too long.

Plus the Jordanian event looks like it has quite a few unique challenges to throw at the drivers.

Nasser Al-Attiyah has gone off in a ditch on the first stage. Apparently the stage is very fast but several corners are very deceptive with loose gravel.

If you go on the http://www.jordanrally.com website and click on the Sport Traxx on the right side of the home page, you have access to GPS tracking with Google Earth.

The results webpage for the Jordan Rally has been slow & cumbersome but the link works from http://www.jordanrally.com

Only stage times are given with no overall timings.

The standings are provisional overnight as there is a protest over a 10sec penalty given to Khaled Al Qassimi.

Despite which he remains the rally leader. Local Jordanian driver, Najjar, is in second & led for most of the day but has suffered two punctures in separate stages. Farrah is in third.

Of the 37 starters, 12 retirements occurred throughout the day. Notably Nasser Al Attiyah out on the first stage. The event is not a car breaker but precision driving is needed, with a perfectly smooth almost concrete like road but large rock, ditches, culverts & more just a metre or so offline.

You can expect me to be at the ROC. Was servicing for Ray only on his Charade but it seems that there is now a "super" team of four cars we are now servicing. He better keep those pies coming to keep up our energy.

GPS is pretty sweet! :D

It does look very good.

I can not believe that the WRC Radio guys did not know about it until I emailed them about it.

Then they had fun as they joked about the coffee shop next to where Collin was commentating as seen from Google Earth.

Will look forward to seeing you at the ROC.

All hail to the winner of the Dead Sea Salt.

You are lucky that the spud gun hit your name. You have to love technology with WRC radio. Get all the correct emails up on screen & then fire a spud gun randomly at the screen to pick the winner.
