This was not my idea of a title for the thread but the headline of the story in today's The Australian.
This is an outrage.
My first reaction is that the Navy should cancel the pointless task of salvaging the Black Hawk helicopter form the depths of the ocean (read the link for what I am referring to) and channel all the cost saving as partial compensation to the family immediately.
The old lady's husband is an invalid, and the Australian military should ensure that he is well cared for with immediate effect, whatever it takes.
I am deeply shocked and saddened by this whole event - I don't know whether the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs has sent a high level official to apologise to this family yet, but it sure as hell is the least our Government can do.
