2nd May 2007, 18:15
FIAT Rally, the second round of European Rally Championship, will be held on May 11-13 in Turkey. Thirteen drivers that compete in the ERC this year are present on the entry list.

Tomasz Czopik has changed the car from Polo S2000 to Mitsubishi because of the constant technical problems that Rene Georges team has with his Volkswagen. Krum Donchev is present with the Subaru, but he may switch to Mitsubishi for the remaining ERC rounds.

Entry list can be found here:
http://www.fiatrally.com/ri_psl.asp

This rally is also second round of IRC.

Rene Georges isnt able to prepare Polo S2000 for Tomasz, so he must rent Evo IX from Zbigniew Stec.

Why Donchev change Subaru?

I don't know the reason, but Zbigniew Stec, the manager of Stec Ralliart (http://www.stecralliart.pl) said that Donchev will be hiring one of their Lancers for the remaining rounds of ERC. Stec will also bring a car for Bulgarian driver Radoslav Kozlekov for the INA Croatia Rally.

And where is Juraj Sebalj?

They are planning: Russia, Barum, Sanremo and Valais. But first they need sponsors.

It would be really great to see Szabo in Madeira... I think it's a rally for his driving style... but unfortunately Madeira is a Island lost in the middle of Atlantic Ocen and it's really very expensive to come here to participate in the rally.. but.. best luck for Szabo, I really appreciate him!

Tomasz Czopik has changed the car from Polo S2000 to Mitsubishi because of the constant technical problems that Rene Georges team has with his Volkswagen.

I don't get it. Freddy did two rally's this year with a reliable VW, even Czopick his first round was the car good. Now suddenly problems?

Does somebody know what exactly the problem was last weekend afther shakedown?

Freddy didn't start in Wallonie because a part for the newly build Polo arrived too late.

Maybe there is more info in this article?
http://www.rallyonline.pl/index.php?1&modex=pnews&&s=10500

I'm looking forward to the battle this weekend, although I'm a bit unhappy with the VW situation... :(

Why Solowow will drive the EVO IX instead of Fiat Punto S2000?
Maybe because this is a gravel rally...

It wasn't a problem after shakedown, but on shakedown. After just a few passages the gearbox in the Polo stopped changing gears. And Rene George's team didn't have a spare gearbox. End of the rally for Czopik :(
And they cannot repair the Polo in time for FIAT Rally.

Yes, he thinks that Lancer is better on gravel and he will also use it in the Rally of Poland. I'd bet Navarra will prove him wrong!

Thanks

Sebalj willmiss first two rounds of ERC, and maybe all other rounds, except Delta. Rumours are that new sponsor demands that priority must be Croatian championship. Before first round of Croatian championship ( he won it ) he sad that before Delta he will make announce in which ERC rallyes he will participate.

Garcia Ojeda has been driving the last two seasons the Spanish Gravel Champ with a 206 RC gr. N. Though he is not an specialist, somehow he's used to gravel driving. What impresses me more about him is that, if i'm not wrong, this is his 2nd event in a 4wd car.

I agree with you N.O.T I wasn't expecting that from him neither ;)

Lots of people criticized him when he drove the BSA whale at the french tarmac rallies championship last year, because of the lack of contenders with "big cars"(althought it wasn't his fault) I guess now they should be numerous to eat their words seeing what's he's able to do in Turkey at an international level :p :

By the way, after SS11, Nicolas Vouilloz reduced the gap again with Alen(+29s now), and Garcia-Ojeda(3rd best time in SS11)has now a 17s gap with the leader... ;)

Alen is too sweeping the road(even more than Ojeda), so that can't explain why the Spaniard is so slow today

I wonder if that hasn't to do with tyres choice finally

Anyway, I hope he will gain positions soon, even if climbing back on the podium(Isik current position)wouldn't be easy...

Vouilloz will swallow the young Alen very soon. Ojeda is slower today, he's probably cleaning the road?

Anybody knows what happened to Dimitar Iliev? Also, I can't see Dani Sola in the results...
Iliev retred in SS12, no times for Sola till SS14...

Reason for Iliev's retirement is broken front differential.

Vouilloz more impressive than I thought on gravel

One fo the reasons is the speed of the 207 S2000 on gravel for sure and I am happy about that.
And there were big fights during all the rally. Not bad at all.

Alen was hit by troubles today but I am surprised that Vouilloz's speed was level with Anton Alen's all yesterday long! Amazing.

Alen drove well on Saturday but what went wrong today?

Vouilloz better than I thought but Oseda really much better! Navarra and Isik - medium, would Alen sr say.

You mean Ojeda? Yes that's true.

I only knew him as a tarmac expert. Obviously, I was wrong. Is the 207 that good on gravel? Is Ojeda?

The Spaniard definitely have a great potential on gravel as he had very few experience on loose surface before the start of the rally.

Ask a certain portuguese driver(Bruno Magalhaes)who is simply dominating everybody on his homeland gravel stages :p :

He also offered the 207 S2000 its first official win earlier this year... ;)

The superspecial did look overcorwed... :)

Just got home, what a pitty for Isik and Alen. I'm looking forward to Ypres. It is for sure that FIAT has some very fast drivers in house, the pugs are fast too and the local boys with S2000 WILL be fast too.. That promises a lot. :) (MUCH MORE EXCITING THAN WRC AT THE MOMENT!!!)

Turkey was fantastic, but Ypres could be even better! Maybe the top 8 or more can be separated by only a minute or two?

Nice videos, great landscapes, fast cars, good drivers, but... no spectators!

it's the biggest problem in Turkey. my older friends say there were much more spectators in previous years between 1990 and 2000. then noone knows why but spectator number gradually dropped.

i'm a high school student and the cities where rallies are hold are too far from my homeland. i save up money to spectate an event. but the persons who says "yeah dude i'm interested in motorsports" and lives in the cities where rallies hold don't come to watch. i understand if they don't come to stages. but they don't come to service area either.
anyway

It's a loooooooong story.
Only footbal takes lots of spectators, lots of sponsor in this country. We have too much big companies but it isn't interesting motorsport. We need to change our head.
