No, relationship between Roman and Tomas is ok. From beginning it was sure there will be big rivalry between them as each of them wanted to be faster.

was just strange to me when your brother in law has a so good team, who rent fabia r5,and know how to setup correctly at Czech stages,to rent from BRR...

I think that Kostka never drove any car from Kresta. Not even on sprint events.

was he renting always from BRR?i mean at sprints he rallied.

No, Tomas Kostka was renting cars from BRR only for Barum last and this year (plus once last year for Pacejov as a test before Barum). In the past he was renting cars from other teams (most usually from JM Engineering/JM Racing or from Italy).

I love the polite reaction to Zawada's big moment. 'Oh dear'.

You know what's even more funny? Despite those "donuts" at 170 km/h, Zawada still managed to win that stage :)

Here's what he said afterwards:
I am the luckiest guy alive! Check out this onboard...massive moment at 170 KM/H! Still won the stage though

And here is the onboard in better quality:

Guys, it's late so I don't know - is it something on my eyes or do I really see "Thank you PLUTO!" on the bonnet of this car? :D

Yes, because Mareš, Wagner and Ingram all had punctures and Zawada only broken rim (he hit the same thing).

Yes, without PLuto Jerzy could not even start. Pity the car was not in the best form so that he could show his full potential.

I didn't watch it yet since I am at work. It seems there was likely some issue with audio...

This one of Tarabus from Troják is without music (if You don't consider S2000 sound as music :) ): https://www.mediasport.cz/rally/ceske-rally/onboardy/10447.html
It's very nice onboard with perfect camera position and from great stage.

Also Pech from the same stage is now online (with an off): https://www.mediasport.cz/rally/ceske-rally/onboardy/10455.html
This one is crazy fast.

All other Evo 2 engines (about which I know they are Evo 2) sound the same. Only Bouffier's car was completely different and very quiet compared to all other Fiestas.

Maybe he has exhaust with silencer option, and that makes car sound completely different and obviously more quiet.

Appart engine. You can choose two type of exhaust. One is clearly louder than other.

Another onboard from Troják, this time with Kopecký who was fastest there. Watch at least the jump after 2:56 (You can compare with the other two onboards where it looks like no jump at all): https://www.mediasport.cz/rally/ceske-rally/onboardy/10465.html

Also note that it's not the stupid camera in the corner of the front window.

I don't see Ingram gaining anything even if he wins the title this year. ERC 2wd title is pretty worthless, there is just 2 drivers competing for it and Huttunen has been more impressive this year even with his accident in Barum, also he has some money to drive in some wrc events and actually he has done well in them.
Currently it seems like that Opel R5 is the only option for Ingram unless he is able to find a lot of money to back next year in 4WD car. Driving R2 again next year will not help him at all.

Mirek
29th August 2017, 21:43
You're wrong. The winner of U27 wins 100 thousand Euro which are bound to be used to support his U28 drive, i.e. in R5 car.

Besides that it's not true that there are only two drivers. You can start with not ignoring the current championship leader Zawada...

Current top 5 where all drivers lost some points due to various dramas, not only Huttunen (who is the fastest for sure, no discussion about that).

1. Zawada 99
2. Ingram 96
3. Mareš 84
4. Huttunen 75
5. Banaz 56

Wagner or Kupec had also very good speed this season. It shall be still noted that Ingram and Zawada have way more experience than anyone else. For most of the others all the events are new.

Essaj
29th August 2017, 22:40
Oh totally forgot about the prize money, and also I havent followed U27 too closely this year but it always seems that speed wise it's always been Ingram and Huttunen battling for the victory but now that I took a bit of look to stage results Zawada has been quite fast also atleast on tarmac, interesting to see can he keep up on Liepaja.

But coming back to the future of these drivers. Getting 100k to drive R5's in ERC sounds like a alot of money but it's actually just like 2 events with test's and then rest you need to be able to back yourself..
Ingrams case it seems like there is no extra money coming his way since he is only driving ERC events at the moment but maybe they have already some plans for next year?
Huttunen has driven R5 in Finland and R2 in germany this year but is his management able to get their budget up for next year to drive whole season with an R5 if he dosent get the Hyundai deal?
Zawada also has driven just a few rallies in last couple of years, I wouldnt get my hopes up to see him driving a full R5 season even with winning this years title price.

Mirek
30th August 2017, 08:15
U28 has only 6 events out of which 4 count so the prize money which can cover 2-3 events (ERC events are rather short) is quite a big help.

Here an extremely lucky moment for Moffet!

Also Griebel, who won JERC last year progressed to R5 this year and has now won himself a World Rally Car drive next year.

As Essaj mentions, Hutunnen appears to have some backing already and being Finnish will probably help him too, so I would perhaps rather see one of the other guys win this title.

Fast Eddie WRC

Exactly. Ingram will benefit hugely by winning the U27 Championship.

He was only narrowly beaten by Griebel last year and has led this year until Zlin.

He deserves an R5 chance and this will probably be his only possibility as other funding is limited.

PLuto
30th August 2017, 11:42
Griebel is great example that also with limited budget you can make fast step from R2 to R5. And his prize from last year - start on Cyprus, helped him to find other backing.

It'd be best for Huttunen if he could make the step up to WRC2 already next season. I don't know what kind of plans they have for him, but being in Grönholm's management hopefully puts together some kind of program. Also, he is still in Hyundai competetion which wouldn't be the worst option either to win. Thing for Huttunen is that he does not have rich daddy to support. Everything is depending on his performance, being successful at right times. So even if it looks now that compared to Ingram and Zawada his future is safe, it's all down to the fact how much other people will believe in him. I believe in him, but I can't get a drive for him. He sure is a talent.

Some more onboards... no ERC regulars yet.

Must watch onboard of Pech from SS7 Semetín: https://www.mediasport.cz/rally/ceske-rally/onboardy/10483.html

Koči rather wild on SS2 Biskupice: https://www.mediasport.cz/rally/ceske-rally/onboardy/10475.html
Compare with Kopecký from second run of the same stage: https://www.mediasport.cz/rally/ceske-rally/onboardy/10489.html
It's very clear where Kopecký is faster and why although the onboard of Koči is more fun to watch.

Černý picking a puncture on gravel section and changing it in stage on SS12: https://www.mediasport.cz/rally/ceske-rally/onboardy/10467.html
The moment when he hit something is very clear on the onboard.

No. He was lucky and rescued by Kremer cancelleing his WRC2 campaign, its mainly that contracted budget at BRR. Without we wouldnt see him in a propper car at all.

Anyway, I have to admit that she surprised me positively if you can say that. Sometimes she was even faster than Tamara Molinaro and Emma Falcon. For sure she isn't the talent we have always waited for, but she improved a lot if you compare that to her performance at Ypres Rally last year.

True, however the prize for JERC U27 (sensibly) now changed from an R5 drive on Cyprus to 100,000 Euro towards a JERC U28 R5 campaign.

I would like to see the prize money increased so it could fund a full six event R5 campaign but this is surely a big help.

By the way, I can tell that just before the stage in Germany, Teemu asked if it is OK to cut this corner or is it too risky and he was afraid of puncture, so, such things are really weak spots for the cars and tyres
