View Full Version : Seajets Acropolis Rally 2017

Acropolis is only four weeks away now.

Guess the entry list might not be quite so good for Acropolis as it's not a JERC round.

I presume Lukyanuk and Kajto are going though? Sounds like Bouffier is missing Acropolis but going to Cyprus.

Hopefully Magalhaes may get the budget to go after his excellent start to the season?

Any know the reason why Acropolis and Cyprus were the events left out of the Junior ERC ? There are 4 tarmac events and only two gravel rounds in the JERC. #justasking

In ERCJ should be only 6 events, to have chance for this championship to have lot of participations. And at least of the costs for running cars, Acropolis and Cyprus are very rough and most expensive (as cars are almost destroyed). Especially R2 cars have problems to survive so rough events. So for me it was good decision not to include this two events to ERCJ.

Yes, I can imagine that Acropolis and Cyprus must be car killers for those tiny R2 machines.

Crusar Team said that Grzegorz Grzyb should be present in Greece.
Habaj also wanted to come, but he damaged the engine in that crash on Canarias and nothing is sure now.
Kasperczyk doesn't come. He already has 1 Million views on YouTube and doesn't need more fame ;)

probably not going to visit... i went 2 years ago and it was complete shit.

But i like the stages they use this year plus its not too far away.... so i might visit a stage if i wake up in a good mood.

Fair points re these rallies being too rough... but then the ERCJ is now biased towards tarmac 4/2.

Bit strange when the full ERC & WRC are gravel-biased and what the Juniors are aiming for and need experience for...

ERC is 4 gravel and 4 tarmac which is fair
idea of ERCJ is to make the championship cheap, from the 8 events in this year calendar, it is wise to exclude this two events
in WRC is too many gravel events for me, so drivers are not so much used to drive on tarmac and we can see their problems on all tarmac events...

Marios Iliopoulos (the guy who owns Seajets) is a bit controversial, but he seems to really like rallying. He is pretty much singlehandely keeping the Acropolis alive as state help was always minimal and other sponsors money has dried up.

On a road section too which is strange.

I'm guessing brake line was too close to something and was cut and the brake fluid caught on fire

Boring rally? Three different leaders, all the time changing the order in top ten, fires... What more action do you want? Especially if you count that it is Acropolis, which is usually with rough roads mainly about reliability and finishing the rally...

Amen. Acropolis current route seems to be too rough for a sprint rally series based on R5 cars, like ERC is. All leader swaps were due to mechanical problems.

Congrats to Kajto for the win. Nice to have Al Attiyah at the series. Bruno still leading ERC, fingers crossed for him!

Agree would love it see it back. The championship needs a rough, attritional event. Throttle pedal works both ways and rally cars are supposed to be strong enough to deal with this stuff.

Big issue this weekend was, like N.O.T says, the competition was mostly at too low of a level to get excited.

Yes, R5 cars seem to be best suited to short and not too rough events. Even Portugal which had a massive WRC2 entry list ended with massive gaps.
