Smaller than now, but bigger than on DS3/Fiesta. Before you kind of lost all rear-end aero downforce. Now you have diffusor and hull arches. Obviously its not ideal, but not like Solberg in Finland 05 ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLVhMN44pac )

Very tidy pace from Lefebvre today.

Compared to Breen especially and a bit to Mikkelsen he has some road position advantage. The comparison for the leg is 4s ahead of Mikkelsen and 20 ahead of Breen, prbly all 3 about equal if the conditions were the same.

https://www.ewrc-results.com/leg/36431-orlen-rally-poland-2017/?leg=2

Nevertheless compared with other cars all Citroens look ok today (again road position taken into account), also quite consistent between first and second run. They do seem clearly faster than "2nd level" drivers (Evans, Østberg, Sunninen) and even Sordo. Looks far from the top 5 though.

I wanted to discuss that... In the second half of the season the rallies he's got a realistic chance of winning are Germany, Finland, GB and Australia, so if he's going to pull off a championship he needs victories in those and nothing short of fourth in the rest. Since it's highly unlikely, it's sad to say he'll have to wait until next year again :(

Then again, he might pull a Neuville and make a monster comeback like I said above. Please, flood me with opinions!

I'd scratch Australia from that list based on last year. So his chances are not very good. Others can have issues but probably not all 3 of them.

No chance in Germany. Just can't see him beating Ogier, Neuville, Meeke and even Sordo on the tarmac. Can see him winning in Finland though

Great thinking. Hanninen should give his car to Lappi and retire instead.. lol

When I thought in this strategy, I rememred from Dakar drivers providing some parts of his vehicles for its colleagues that are ahead of the race, and even so they could not give the entire car, off course. But WRC has more restrictive rules.

Latvala has never won rallies back to back. I think it's pretty safe to say, with today's misfortune, he's out of the contention for the title. Ogier, Neuville and the new mature Tänak all have consitency and will be the top 3.

Jari should not be disappointed, this is by far his best season since 2014, and considering the car is new, I would be very optimistic come 2018, he should know how to lift himself upwards & onward, I bet we will still see him on the podium this year: Finland-should be in the top running, Germany-need to see how much they improved the car on tarmac, don't forget he finished 4th in Corsica. Spain-good event for him or at least can be good, Wales GB- used to be one of his best events, Australia-will be the toughest for him, but his road position may favor him considerably.

From all the videos I've watched this has to the worst WRC round in years regarding spectator safety. Crowds on the outside of corners, crowds both sides of the wrong side of jumps, fire engines going against rally traffic, absolute stupidity. Latvala's best chance was this year. Next year the Toyota may be better but so could the Hyundai and Ford. Citroen can't be worse. Talk of Ogier being lucky, slow etc are so wide of the mark. He is the champ and this is not by accident. He is just far superior to any current competitor in analysing what is required in terms of pace for any given set of conditions.

No - he's not 'fast' but he's fourth. Mostly because the percentages are that there is a pace for an event that is optimum - not necessarily the fastest possible. Ogier is supreme at finding that optimum pace for finishing when others retire. What if Neuville and Tanak provoke each other into errors tomorrow.

I also have a lingering fear that his time is running out to win a championship, or that it might be out already. Maybe the Yaris isn't up to the Fiesta's level (let alone the i20), but when he says he pushes he's still not the fastest.

I agree, that safety issues on this rally are outrageous, but still, poland should remain in calendar. Probably under different organizer team (with foreign members/advisors), but in the same region and conditions. This event represents whole north-eastern europe rallying in WRC (I mean, road configuration and climate) and should be preserved.
If not, then bring WRC to Baltics, we have experience with ERC and a lot better spectator control.

If Neuville wins I think he could go on and win this championship. He's had the raw pace nearly all season to know he can beat Seb in a straight fight. Ott could win here and in Finland too, but I think the rallies like Germany and Spain may mean a championship dream/win is a year away yet. Shame for Jari but his retirement has allowed Paddon to move up, and he needs a result like this to give him a timely boost.
