It seems the route for this years rally is already known. http://www.tourdecorse.com/2016/en/
Just 10 stage's.. still i'm thinking of going there this year.

Any tips are welcome, where best to stay?
I believe they move about the hole island during the rally, does that mean there are podiums and regroups in the tree major cities?

The flights are expensive from UK and the ferry schedule from Genoa or Nice such that a whole week on Corsica is required with hotel and car hire extra cost. I'll stick to Sarde!
As for regroups / podiums - No it's all about remote servicing returning to the Service Park for parc ferme

I prefer Sardinia also, but will it be in next year?

It's all on the Rally website and Planet Marcus.

The west coast town of Ajaccio hosts Thursday evening’s start ceremony.
Two stages on the west coast are tackled twice on Friday, with no service and just a mid-leg tyre change in Porticcio.
Saturday is the longest with two loops of two stages totalling 169.04km.
Sunday’s final leg covers just two tests in the east - but the opener is a monster 53.78km.
The single service park is at Bastia Airport, in the far north-east of the island.

Good news with F.Delecour in Fabia R5 => http://bit.ly/2ciFB7a

What is sad, it's than now, when guys want to do their home event, they rent a R5, not a WRC. Of course that's really nice to see Michel, Bouffier, Delecour, ... entering the event. But maybe with a WRC, they could have fight for Top 5 - or just fight with the official WRC drivers. It could bring a bit of new things in the front of the race. A few years ago, that happened ...

Naturally..
However

to go to effort to make $omething that is there to $howcase $omething--and it is no mere happenstance that whatever wheel this is on the car is there for a good rea$on ----be not visible seems to run counter to the idea of $howcasing things..

And, as $uch, $eems really $tupid, even though naturally everybody can have their own taste...

For a man who claims to be smarter than everybody else, you seem to make incredibly stupid presumptions constantly...
who said anybody cares "so much"?

A comment was made about the invisibility of the wheels in a photo of a rally car....
This is a rally discussion forum, so a comment is the nature of the way things work. That's all there was.

Go back to your basement and learn how to be a disciplined human and not assume things and try to think you know how others are thinking...

Me too I think it will be a good machinery. But maybe too less time testing? So it will be competitive with PSA's R5 but still a step behind Fabia and Fiesta?

Kris Meeke: “It was a good morning for us. The stage was fairly representative of what to expect in Corsica. It’s good to be among the leaders in the shakedown, but the main thing is to be on the pace when the rally proper gets underway. We kick off tomorrow morning with what I would argue is the most difficult stage. You’ve got 50 kilometres of constant changes in pace, with roads that are wide in places and narrow and twisty in others. If you’re not quite on the money, you can easily lose 30 or 40 seconds in one go! Fortunately, it looks like the weather is going to be fairly mild for the first leg. The forecast is for more changeable weather on Saturday, so we’ll have to keep on an eye on that…”

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CthZwwJWEAALMkc.jpg:large

Breen was surprised at his SD time:
“I’m pleasantly surprised with my times, because I don’t really have much experience in the DS 3 WRC on tarmac. I have a good feeling in the car and I’m trying to take on board everything that the engineers have been telling me. I have got so many things to learn! Tomorrow, the first leg looks very tough because we’ve got to complete all four stages without a service break. Fortunately, I’m already familiar with these roads from having previously competed here in the ERC and the WRC. Lastly, I reckon that it’ll be more difficult again on Saturday because I think the roads are even more demanding. But this is all part and parcel of the fun at the Tour de Corse!”

Good luck chaps !

Says a lot about Skoda and Kopecky that he easily beats all other R5s on his very first run. Clearly has the seat time and manufacturer setup advantage, but you would say Elfyn does too...

For sure money won’t be the problem. Breen is doing a geat job, but Citroen will never be manus champ with only Meeke and Breen. I knew he had talent and could be quick at times and on certain rallies, but his new found speed and consistency have been pretty amazing.

Given that Paul Nagle was Craig's co-driver in the successful SWRC season it is clear that the vibe in the Citroen camp is hugely positive - very apparent seeing them arrive back in service at the end of Rally Finland.
I am not in the least surprised that Craig has shown such ability - Every stage along the way of his career he has been able to see off the opposition. The 208 project was not indicative of his true ability as the difference between his performance and Abbring's in Finland showed.

Bad impressions are always hard to change…we don’t know the reasons for Neuville’s last year (and this year first events) underperformance, but he clearly showed a better mood in Portugal and since then he has been the second best scorer on the series (71 points to 73 from Ogier).

On Breen there’s no doubt: his performance in Finland was outstanding and he totally deserves to be in WRC. Who knows, maybe Citroen will have a 3rd car sooner than expected.

Quite dissapointed by the Hyundai R5 pace today I have to say. They don't have to look on championship points or need to finish the rally. Their only goal should be to show the outright speed of the car for future customers and try to set best times. With Abbiring and especially former Corse winner Sarrazin I was quite convinced that they will be hard to beat for Kopecky and Evans.

And did anyone really think Ogier would be challenged here, except maybe by Meeke ? And even before the puncture Ogier was ahead and managing his tyres.

The rally isnt over if you look below first place, which you must do in most events as Ogier is so good. There are still plenty of close battles for places, and maybe even seats for 2017.

To get a good start in 2017 he needs a good Monte Carlo... so he doesnt want to start behind many cars on dirty roads.

A better Ch'ship finish in 2016 can place him higher up for Monte.

Also Ogier can cruise now and lose 10 secs a stage and still win.

I think that is largely because Skoda have 3/4 very strong drivers and Ford just Evans.

Breen must get that 2nd seat in Citroen...massive surprise this year. Meeke and Ogier battle will be amazing to watch next year, Meeke is just so fast at the moment. Dissapointed with Paddon, moving very slowly forward on tarmac, worrying for the future if he wants to fight for the championship. Camilli pretty good so far.

It will be fascinating next year to watch Meeke vs Ogier across a full season when both have the same championship mentality. Will Kris be able to hang with him or will we see mistakes creep in?

I have zero faith Latvala can put a challenge together. You have to wonder whether next year he will start to get left behind by Mikkelsen, Meeke, Paddon etc. Although I do agree with EstWRC about Hayden on tarmac. Breen is certainly showing a few people up with his pace relative to WRC car experience.

With all due respect I'm calling b.s. on that one. Breen is driving for a full time WRC contract - so I'd say he's had far more pressure and more on the line than most this season.

Plus there is far too much emphasis placed by people on driving for manufacturer points. It's part of being a professional.

+1, probably much more pressure than someone who has for example a 3-year contract.

Hard to believe, but first Ford is actually an R5 car.

Edit: i am wrong there, Camilli is still in front of Evans, but Ostberg is behind him. Says a lot about actual form of Mads.

You have to keep in mind also the fact that it is his fifth Tour de Corse. He is among the most experienced WRC drivers in this event. Only Latvala has 6 starts and Dani 7 starts. Even for Ogier it is only fourth attemt and for example, for Tänak, it is second attemt.. and remember, last year it was totally different event and large part of the stages were cancelled. So, he has chosen good rally to show his speed. And definitely, these roads suit well to Citroen. Finally, he is doing very good, as he should :)

Well Citroen are still negotiating with Neuville - so I highly doubt they've sorted anything out with Breen or Lefebvre yet until that is finalised. I saw Kristian Solberg saying he thinks that Craig and Stephane will share the third car if Neuville signs. Normally Citroen waits until the end of the season to get their drivers sorted.

As OldF says, hopefully these FIA rules will force Citroen into running a permanent third car. Was disappointing to hear Matton talking conservatively of only two cars next season.
