Solans getting into the groove now. Just 0.2s off fastest time on SS8 (in the old Fabia Evo).
Did Cais take a shortcut on Groupo Marquez?!

dont know how old are you,but the older ones here we have witnessed his first years at wrc,and his performance against multiple world champions at this era.
What he achieved vs world champions is mind blowing.

The first time I started following WRC was end of 2006, when Loeb had to miss the final 4 rallies and Gronholm was trying to win them all or almost to get the championship. He got 3x 1st and 1x 5th, and was not enough. I thought: how good is this Loeb guy, winning a world championship with 12/16 rallies run!

However, that put the nine-time world champion first on the road for Saturday’s seven stages, and therefore at even more of a disadvantage to Mikkelsen who helped develop the Fabia RS Rally2 and has won the Azores twice before.
But Mikkelsen’s victory bid would unravel on Graminhais 2 when, pushing hard, he hit a bank with the right-rear of his Škoda and caused damage. WRC2 driver Cais impressively won the stage, but more importantly Mikkelsen fell to 18.2s off the lead with just the powerstage remaining.
Loeb was off the hook. Suddenly he was under no pressure, and the 49-year-old was clear to claim the 106th victory of his distinguished rallying career as well as the powerstage win.

Well, Mikkelsen already looking like a bit of a mug. Stupid comments again about wanting do win all events he enters this year and "do a Lappi".
1st event: a man who has spent the majority of his career driving Skodas of some sort, developed the last few fabias get crushed by a retired old man who has never been to the azores or driven a fabia before iirc.
Not looking good for Mikkelsen, but everyone knows that there was the GOAT and he would have probably beat also Ogier, Tänak, Rovanperä and Neuville if they had been competing in Azores. Simply the best!

Yannick Willocx, Loeb engineer in the Azores: "I felt useless..."
At 37, Yannick Willocx has experience. Having worked for Skoda and Hyundai, the Belgian has collaborated with Kalle Rovanperä, Esapekka Lappi, Jan Kopecky, Dani Sordo and now Sami Pajari at Toksport. He will remember his Azores rally with Sébastien Loeb.
I didn't know how Sébastien drove, but based on the data we had, we defined a set-up. After a run, he just had a remark about understeer on entry if he brakes a little late. What surprised me the most was that at the end of his analysis, he told me “I am adapting”. I don't know of another pilot who has done this. The most common discourse is rather “you have to adapt the car to my style”. If there is a problem, it is always the car and never the way of driving. Sébastien has the opposite approach to what most of his colleagues do and I really liked it. In the Azores, I felt useless… It was a very positive experience for me. It may be less good for the competitors with whom I will work in the future. (Laughs)
Is it because he quickly finds the limits of a car?
I think the connection between his eyes, his brain, his hands and his feet is better than many. He sees the grip and the things that can disturb the behavior of the car. From the reconnaissance, he was already able to say what it was going to be like in the race.
When you compare his data with that of other pilots, what does that tell you?
We have some well-established theories about grip or how to slow down, and in my opinion Sebastien has a completely different way of using the accelerator pedal. He hardly ever does accelerator + brake at the same time. While the others pass a turn using the left foot, he does it by “playing” with the accelerator. Seb barely touches the brakes. It brakes with very low pressures, which involves very little wheel lock where others push the pedal as if to bend it in half by locking the wheels hard. He knows exactly where he needs to brake, and even with lower pressures he manages to do it later than his rivals.

I’m surprised this championship is still going to be honest. Someone must be getting some value out of it somewhere but does anyone actually watch it?
It was good to see some extra highlights of Rali Ceredigion from the TER feed but other than that it seems kinda pointless - especially as the champion and 2nd in the title race only entered (and won) two rounds!

Italian driver makes history again clinching a maiden series’ title
Italian Rachele Somaschini has clinched the 2024 TER – Tour European Rally title.
After a historic TER victory at Rally Fthiotidos, 2-time TER Ladies Trophy winner Rachele Somaschini has secured a maiden TER Title with her Citroën C3 Rally2 codriven by Nicola Arena and in the last event in Sardinia by Fabio Salis.
Following the cancellation of the final round, Azores Rallye, by the event organisers Rachele Somaschini tops the 2024 standings of the newest concept of Rally series with 63 points.
In second place, Paolo Raviglione and Alessandro Rappoldi take also the TER 2WD.
The Italian crew lost the chance to fight for the title due the cancellation of the Azores Rallye.
The final step of the 2024 TER – Tour European Rally season overall podium goes to the Spaniards Nicolas Cabanes and Javi Moltò.
