He doesn't remember anyone in which year he tried to sign MS but was turned down because a small financial issue.
However he knows exactly where they did meet, in different locations, interesting!

"He and I met, in Monte Carlo, quite a few years ago, specifically to discuss the possibility of his joining the team. The meeting followed an informal chat we'd had a the Log Cabin [at Suzuka]," the McLaren boss told F1-Racing magazine.

"Off the top of my head, I can't remember [when it was], but I'd say 1998, 1999 or 2000."

Some people don't speak English as their first language also... so it's appropriate to cut a whole bunch of slack on the internet in general, and especially on this international forum. (Thought there's no excuse for the Aussie's! ;) )

Ron's memory may not be very good, but what he's referring to happened to an ex-F1 driver many years ago.

The thread was about Ron's memory, not about MS.

You would put even your next birthday in the history forum if the letter M and S came close to each other.

Why are you mods so afraid of having anything slightly linked MS on the main page of the F1 forum?!

Pretty dumb title for the thread IMO.

Is your memory disasterous because you can only narrow a question about an event 8 years ago (which is now a pretty useless piece of information) down to three answers? I'm sure you wouldn't say so.

Who said it was about anything else? The thread is here because Ron is talking about events that happened years ago. Now if you genuinely want to discuss that topic then there is nothing stopping you from doing so.

There is a famous saying: "never forget the past and learn from the mistakes you have made in the past" ;)

so he was greedy too.... I was aware of some of his "qualities" but not of this.
