How was your 2015?

So, alas, time keeps moving on and it's another New Year already. Just where does the time go?! :s

What did you get up to over the past 12 months? Anything special? Triumphs and disappointments? Things you've done that you always dreamed of doing? Let's hear it! :bounce:

Had another attempt and managed to finish the Safari Rally - not last!! :D
18,000 miles driven, 3 punctures....
Co-drove on a few other rallies - Twyford Wood, Hamsterley, Rally GB (finished well last!!)
Visited Kenya & Tanzania again for the Classic Safari Rally.
Slept in a ditch in the Kenyan bush after the gearbox broke :(
Sold road bike, at a huge loss...
Went to Wimbledon, really enjoyable day! :up:

Hopefully more of the same in 2016!!

Seems fairly forgettable really. Mian thing I'll remember is that I changed jobs and then my previous company went pop 3 weeks later (dodged a bullet).

Didn't really do anything spectacular motorsport wise, only managed a handful of rallies as a spectator (Wyedean, Somerset, Nicky Grist and a tarmac Epynt) and competed fairly uneventfully in a number of hillclimbs/sprints. Highlight was probably World RX at Lydden which is an event I really enjoy.

2016 will hopefully have a bit more of the same in regard to competing. Looking forward to World RX again and also off to Monaco Historique in mid-May. Went to the 2012 edition and think it's possibly the best value event I've ever been to and one of the most enjoyable too. Simply can't understand why people pay £400+ for an F1 ticket when you can get a whole weekend of great racing (including tickets, travel, food/drink and accommodation) for less than that.

I had a pretty tough 2015 overall...still quite a major thing happened - moving to a different country - at least for a year.
2016 will either be great for me or a very low point.

Oh I had to sell my 2 yr old SUV last year before moving ( let it go for a price much lower than I wanted to) and instead now own a 10 yr old suv :|

Yeah it's about two or three weeks before so all the track stuff is in place and most (if not all) of the grandstands. There is inevitably a lot of difference in quality of drivers across the field but some of the racing is really close. Motors TV showed live coverage of the 2014 races and the F3 event was fantastic. Think it's 20 euros each day, although you're obviously restricted to a specific grandstand. IIRC the Friday afternoon is practice and you can sit wherever. When I went before we flew from Bristol to Nice on Friday morning, dumped our bags at the hotel at about midday and were sat at Casino Square by about 2pm

Monetarily, the best year of my life so far. When you work in a war zone, the fear pay is really fat. :D Otherwise, the mid life crisis in full blossom with wearing military style accessories, having guilty yet sweet feelings etc. ;) Let's see how 2016 works.

2015 Lows:
For the first time in my (long) career, I was laid off from my job (along with 200 others :s ). It wasn’t a total surprise, but it was an experience I’d rather never have to go through again. With the Canadian economy in the toilet, especially in the province of Alberta, most workers were on edge throughout the year. I think the worst is over, but 2016 will not necessarily be an improvement.

2015 Highs:
I did find employment fairly quickly again (I know some colleagues that are still unemployed).

Family is healthy and happy. Kids are excelling in school, and are growing and demonstrating more responsibility.

No motorsport events for me, but I did fulfill a personal bucket list item travelling to the UK to take in the Rugby World Cup :D

Changed jobs and increased by salary by 30% (I'm not boasting :p)
Discovered Iracing.
