Call it the Downton Abbey Effect, but I've noticed more Americans adopting the British style, so, Happy Christmas to you all.

Merry Xmas people!

I'm wondering where to go today, finally a break from rain!
Waiting for somebody to invite me over for traditional christmas food, any takers? :D

Storm, my dear friend you’re always welcome at my place. It's a fact I'm a lousy cook but I can score points in other department like having many friends. Not all of them are featured in this pic cos mr Martini is still upset, the different assortments of tuica and wine were ashamed to have their photo taken, etc.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20151225/b30a23d8f04ff1b6f0c62898b1d91114.jpg

As it's Boxing Day in most of the world now... please remember to leave your Christmas Boxes out for the servants. Make sure you put nice stuff in those boxes as well.

Boxing Day - Dec 26th

This is the day when tradespeople, servants and domestic staff would receive gifts from their employers or customers called "Christmas Boxes".

http://www.pepysdiary.com/diary/1663/12/19/
Dined at home, and then with Mr. Bland to another meeting upon his arbitration, and seeing we were likely to do no good I even put them upon it, and they chose Sir W. Rider alone to end the matter, and so I am rid of it. Thence by coach to my shoemaker’s and paid all there, and gave something to the boys’ box against Christmas.
- Samuel Pepys, 19th Dec 1663

Since servants had to wait on their masters on Christmas Day, a Christmas Box was a sort of gratuity to thank them and take back to their own families when they had the day off the next day.
