Is the FIA still enforcing the average speeds for stages can't be over 120kmh with an allowance of 10% so 132kmh is allowed?

If so does anyone know where it is listed in the Sporting Regs?

Wanting to find out as we had a gravel rally on the weekend where the stage winner averaged over 170kmh, competitors in R2 cars that was their top speed:(

that's not a stage, that's a highway. and highways have nothing to do with rallying.

If I'm not mistaken there is no such rule in WRC. It was deleted from the regulations few years back. We have it still here in our national regulations but that's only here.

Anyway 170 km/h is totally extreme. Already extremely fast wide and straight stages in Hungarian rally Eger are around 140 km/h with S2000 (with a lot of chicanes though).

Markku Allen at a local rally at Argentina at 90s ,if i remember right,he managed more than 200km/h average.He lost that stage from a local who was faster.It was gravel rally.
Cant remmber the name of rally,i ve read it at Martin Holmes pirelli yearbook,but i am away from my home to see exactly the average speed and the name of rally.

I doubt it can be real. The average speed of F1 on a circuit is around 200 km/h. F1 circuits aren't exactly slow and the cars are way faster than any rallycar. Also record average speed of Tourist Trophy is little over 200 km/h and they run 250-300 km/h for long time over the straights.

Not so convincing but if You have ever played Richard Burns rally where cars are faster than in reality (mainly in acceleration) the fastest stage of all is around 170 km/h and You run half of it on rpm limiter.

170 kph is very extreme indeed. Fastest I remember in Belgium was in Rallye de Wallonie (SS Gesves), only around 6km long, quickest driver had an average of 147 kph with Porsche GT3 some years ago. It was like a highway too, on very wide roads. For me it's not rallying. There's no rule about average speed anymore I think. It used to be there (remember Ireland when a stage couldn't be run again because it was too fast). I think a rule on maximum average is wrong anyway, as the average speed doesn't represent the risk of a stage always. For example in Finland there's the crazy Myhinpaa stage (this year powerstage), where they had an average of 135kph but they didn't get to top speed that much, and there's no real bigger risk than on any other stage in Finland in my opinion. It's a rollercoaster you can compare to Ouninpohja. :) On the other hand you can have much quicker and more dangerous stages where the average is lower because of junctions, hairpins and chicanes.

There was a "myth" that Toivonen took a Delta S4 around Estoril as fast as an F1 car, and the following link says he could have been in the top 10 times:

Obviously GroupB cars were very specialised, Im not sure a car from the 90s (im guessing if it were Alen it would be a Subaru) wouldve been able to do that.

don't know the average speed round Estoril, but I fairly sure that F1 cars are geared to do just a weeeeee bit more than 190 km/hr or about 116-117mph---which is what a couple of different WRC drivers have told me they geared the cars for back in Late Group B and early Group A days.

SS1 (81.50km) was won by Stig Blomqvist in an Audi Quattro A2 at the amazing average speed of 189.53kph!

didnt remember it right.

the rally was at Paraguay and the name of rally was ''Trans Chaco''
Allen was entered with a Lancia integrale,and at stage No2 with 68km distance was covered at 21,26 min(191km/h)
An other driver Galanti Alex with a celica took less 19 minutes with average 216km/h
these are written at Pirelli annual book No27 2004-2005 by Martin Holmes.

Ja, has to be. Can't imagine cars from the 80s taking corners faster than cars nowadays. Especially that known understeerer, the Quattro A2. They might have been driving on a highway for all we know.

Dont know if its impressive too,i have not see any video from this stage.
At pirelli year book writes that is with long straights and bumpy gravel roads.
With 90s cars suspension i guess wasn t so easy even at straights with these speeds for 80+ km long stages.
