AS the title suggests I'm hoping to compete as a driver the 2nd round of the Australian Rally Championship held in my home town of Canberra.
Have just had the shocks rebuilt for the Charade, now to fit all the FIA spec roll cage padding, new harnesses and a new clutch and we will be ready to go.
Will be interesting to see how I go as it's been a few years.
Might have to do a rallysprint as a arm up though me thinks:)

Good luck Ray. Do you know if that little Toyota you've been co-driving in runs a 4E-FE?

More good news is that Revolution Racegear Canberra have come on board and are helping me with all preparations for the National Capital Rally.

Yes it does run a 4E-FEThought so. I have a stack of new unused TRD steel head gaskets for 4E-FE (non turbo) which were left over stock when we sold the agency some years ago. I think there's some other bits also. If your mate is keen, get him to contact me. cheers Bruce

It would appear the 2wd drive champion still gains the overall ARC title.

Pedder is one of the few 4wd entries.

Good to hear Ray. Don't go too fast too soon ;)

The ARC field will all be seeded together this year, Classics, 2wd and 4wd.
If I can get the dollars for a 6 spd sequential will mean a lot for our reliability and some more speed. Have to keep the power down to stop going through gearboxes although we can change a box in a 15 min service:)
Looks like we have some more sponsors coming on board, will post here when we have it all confirmed.
Getting excited now.

What gear set up does the Charade have? Or is that Daihatsu's IP? What are the options - a Subaru gearbox set up as a transaxle with a 5 speed (e.g http://www.subarugears.com/ ), some of the lightweight English made sequential transaxles (e.g Hewland JFR ) . Albins, porsche cayman etc?

At the moment we run a Charade Diesel box which has stronger gears and better ratios.
Elite transmissions from the UK have quoted us a very good price, if some more sponsor money comes through we will run their box.
Albins do a gear set for my current box but it's only a couple of grand more for the sequential.
We will also run the same box in our Group B 926R project.

Change of plans now, we are running as 00 for the event. So a bit of responsibility now doing 00 for an ARC event.

Had a faultless run today, did our job as Double Zero. Was finished by 2pm. Looking forward to some good roads tomorrow out to the West of Canberra. Know the roads quite well, don't even need notes:)

Molly Taylor did well. Harry Bates in third - the Taylor/ Bates dynasty continues.

An interesting note from the event. As 00 we had a job to do so we were just cruising through the stages, but on the second pass each day with the stage fully set we were setting top 5 times even though not having a go and still doing our job. May have to do some more events as a driver me thinks:)
