Press releases for this weekend's racing:

Birmingham: 21st April 2007.

This Saturday night sees the BriSCA big league return to Birmingham Wheels, and huge numbers of cars should be in attendance at what is regarded as one of the best tarmac venues in the BriSCA world.
Those who witnessed the epic 2006 World Semi-Final at Wheels - one of the best F1 races seen in recent years - will testify as to how good the racing there can be, and more of the same is guaranteed this Saturday night.

A multitude of big names and starts of the future should be in attendance, as they attempt to slow down the early season 515 steamroller.
The F2s will also be in action as civil war breaks out in the formula - yes, it's the anual speedway-style team race, this year seeing the North square off against the South.

Hednesford: 22nd April 2007.

Thunder in the Hills this Sunday looks set to continue the excellent form of the F1s seen at Hednesford last season - if you haven't been to this one before, then you are missing out big time as the sheer speed of the F1s round Hednesford - the fastest oval on the BriSCA calendar - has to be seen to be believed.

We are expecting a big turnout of cars for Sunday's session, including the possibility of one or two Dutch visitors (unconfirmed at the moment), and with good weather also on the cars this should be a cracking session.

The F2s, Rebels and 1400cc Bangers should provide some great racing in good numbers as well, all adding up to a top day of all-contact racing

Drivers lists for both events and directions etc. are available at http://www.incarace.co.uk/index.html

Further to the query earlier this week about the BriSCA TV coverage: I have made enquiries about this, but I’m still waitng for an answer

There will be a repeat on Wednesday 9th May at 5.10am  I'm unsure what has happened to the Five US repeat...

from what was shown, there is something missing. oh yeah, IT'S THE NOISE. you just didn't get the impression that they've got stonking great v8s in them. sound mixing needs attention. as expected, not exactly taxing questions from michelle to the drivers in the post race interviews. the commentary duo didn't generate much excitement. one man on his own does better at most tracks.

i'll reserve further judgement until i've seen the full programme(on sunday).

2nd May 2007, 18:31
All good points which have been made to the production team today, Acorn. And to their credit, they have said that they will act on them for the next programme (due to be filmed this weekend and shown at the end of May) - Especially the noise (it really was quite weak wasn't it?) :) There is also the promise of more cameras closer to the track and attached to the fence (!), a change in the commentary style, and more in / on car cameras...

Re: Basketball - this is why the first showing will be at around midnight from now on. This should avoid anything over-running into the programme.

This coming Monday sees the annual Sheffield / Belle Vue double header which sees the F1s race at Sheffield on the afternoon, and then load up and dash across the Pennines to Manchester for an evening meeting! The Press Releases are below. Saturday also sees the F1s back for their second meeting of the year at Coventry (http://www.coventrymotorspeedway.com/indexsc.htm)...

GOLD RUSH III
OWLERTON STADIUM
SHEFFIELD

MONDAY 7th May 12 NOON

It’s WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP time at OWLERTON STADIUM SHEFFIELD with a HIGH NOON showdown for BriSCA Formula One Stock Car Racing this Holiday Monday 7th May.
The revered OWLERTON racestrip is one of the fastest and most destructive within Europe however with vital World Qualifying points at stake this Monday the UK’s top drivers will be in action. Significantly it is also the last F1 event before the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL to be hosted in the City on July 22nd and drivers will be looking for vital set up clues as well as qualifying points.

The 1st April event featured a World qualifier for the smaller F2 Stock Cars which proved to be one of the most action packed events in recent memory, high speed rollovers, crashes and thrills and spills galore!

Sheffield’s Steve Hattersley will be seeking a piece of the action particularly since his popularity has soared in a local publication SIXER which has carried a major feature on the driver. However the Sheffield big guns are expected to make the grid although West Yorkshire ace Frankie Wainman Junior is facing a race against time to get `fit’ after a spectacular high speed accident at Hednesford Hills a couple of weeks ago rendering the pilots racer a near write off.

Monday is a massive challenge for racers as many of them will be journeying across the Pennines late afternoon to compete at Manchester’s Belle Vue in the evening as part of a popular double header event.

Mondays massive Horsepower spectacle also features V8 Hot Stox and the awesome full contact BriSCA Ministox. Up to 30 of these 1000cc full contact Ministox will be on track and you’ll be amazed that the pilots range in age from 10 - 16 years. This is a rare appearance in the City for the formula but has for many years provided a breeding and testing ground for many of today’s top BriSCA race aces.

Around 4 hours of hi octane thrills and spills this Holiday Monday at OWLERTON, `Feel the Ground shake’ with the awesome BriSCA Formula One Stock Car Racing thunder! Check out the video clips as a preview on www.startrax.info (http://www.startrax.info/)

MONDAY 7th May at 5.30.pm

World Championship fever comes to Manchester’s Belle Vue Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May when the second event of the 2007 season takes place.
[font=Verdana]Following on from the record breaking audience at the opening Easter event, the promoters are hoping for another bumper turnout as Belle Vue rapidly becomes one of the most popular centres of UK Stock Car Racing.

Significantly Monday’s event plays to host to the annual MIKE PARKER TRIBUTE TROPHY which has become a coveted title in the stock car world and is in remembrance of the North Western based late promoter who pioneered Stock Car Racing through out the North West, in Manchester at White City and Salford, also at Nelson, Rochdale and Blackburn

Monday’s event features BriSCA Formula One Stock Cars, a World Championship Qualifying Round for the BriSCA Formula Two Stock Cars and BANGER RACING.

Once again a large number of Bangers are programmed, Easters event saw close on 50 cars - on track - at the same time!

Scott Davids and Steve Jacklin, both from Manchester lead local challenge in the Formula One Stock Cars whilst Bolton’s Barry Goldin has his sights firmly set on the Gold Roof and World honours this year. However competition at Belle Vue will be tough as Scotlands Gordon Moodie heads a big Scottish invasion.

The Formula One drivers and race crews have a massive 15 hours because many will have already competed in a hectic World Qualifier at Sheffield’s OWLERTON STADIUM the same day at 12 Noon and then will dashing across the Pennines’ to race in Manchester in the evening,

The event starts around 5.30.pm and completes at 9.30.pm and provides an action packed of thrills and excitement for all the family. Check out the website www.startrax.info (http://www.startrax.info/)

3rd May 2007, 23:50
Ahem! Indeed... The first booking list will be released tomorrow on the Startrax website. As it's a World Qualifier, car numbers shouldn't be a problem. Quite a few drivers who avoid Sheffield will be there - they need the practice for the Semi Final there in July :p

International Stock Car action comes to Lincolnshire this weekend with the best in Britain taking on a fearsome European challenge in Brisca F1 action.
Skegness Stadium are fully prepared to host it's first major championship Speedweekend of the season with the principle attraction being the Brisca F1 United Kingdom Championship.

The whole weekend of racing on Saturday (5pm) and Sunday (12 noon) promises to be of the highest quality. Not only will the F1's be on view but the F2's are in support on both days as are the Mini-Stox making it a compelling trio.

Within the Stock Car circles Skegness is renowned for being "the place to stage a Speedweekend". This is because the excellent camping facilities offer both drivers and supporters a unique opportunity to mingle together.
The first appearance of the season of the Brisca F1's is always eagerly awaited and the nations number one draw cards never fail to thrill on their visits to the east coast.

The thrills are almost guaranteed on the superfast tarmac surface with world champion Andy Smith heading the entries in a very competetive line up.

The cream of a particulary strong continental crop especially the Dutch contingent who are always assured of a strong turnout of their best drivers many who are more than capable of winning races.

The atmosphere on the terraces is also unique with the orange clad Dutch support making a colourful sight decked out in their orange shirts offering noisy backing to their drivers.

The cast list is equally strong in the F2's who will relish yet another opportunity to race on Britain's busiest circuit.

There are currently 72 F1s booked in to race this weekend (possibly even more to be added!). Drivers lists can be seen on the Next Meeting page of the SKEGNESS WEBSITE. (http://www.skegness-stadium.info/)

Other news...

The venue for the 2008 World Final has been changed from Wimbledon to Ipswich. This is mainly due to the inability to run a meeting on a Saturday night at Wimbledon. It is anticipated that this will be broadcast on sky Sports. It's a long way off yet (20th September 2008), and this year's World Final will be run at Kings Lynn in September - but the event needs to be planned well in advance.

Chris, any word on the Saturday repeat? I've been meaning to watch but due to severe ineptitude I've missed them...

I caught the sunday night showing and was happy with what I saw. Ideally the show could do with extending to including more interviews with drivers to build up a fan base although really that would be better suited to a more viewer friendly time slot. What BriSCA have now though is very good imo and once the show is expanded to cover other tracks then it has the potential to become quite big.

Only problem I had with it was in places the racing was a little hard to follow with a little too much switching of focus between different cars (speaking as a complete short track virgin)

Abo - It's all gone quite on the Saturday repeat, although it was definitely TBC a couple of weeks back. Likewise the Five US repeat. If I hear of anything, I'll let you know...

Nick Brad and JDPower - The second show is due at the end of May, and promises a lot of improvements... They will be focussing on making it easier to follow (not an easy job with so many cars on a 1/4 mile oval!).

truckmonster - Pleased you enjoyed it. I thought it a great meeting and Skeggy will indeed be a cracking weekend... At the risk of putting a jinx on it - Saturday looks dry-ish, but Sunday might be wet. Fingers crossed there are just enough showers to keep the track a a little bit greasy ;) :D

NB and JD Last Saturdays meeting was an absolute cracker as well which should help make it good TV. The biggest problem the cameras may have had was keeping up with it all. Russell Cooper and Garry Townsend (god it hurts to praise him) both White tops had excellent nights, Paul Hines hit moving out Frankie Wainman Junior and Andy Smith on the last lap of the final, final winner young Tom Harris and an excellent night for Stu Smith and Mike Kingston.

The action was thick and fast all night, over on the Stoxnet forum they had a real hard time picking a driver of the day.

BriSCA F1 on Channel Five:
By way of an update to the previous post, the 27th May programme will now apparently be the first showing of the May Coventry meeting.

programme 2 on the 27th was a definite improvement on the first one. the single commentator worked well and there was more excitement in his style. the v8 rumble was more present but could still do with cranking it up a tad more. still not sure about michelle. she does need to listen to the reply to her questions to avoid asking in her next question what's already been stated.

tip for teams- you're on tv in front of a larger audience than your sponsors would normally get just at the track so, IF possible(not always on i know if you've got damage to repair), clean the car to show the sponsors names(even if it's only for the first couple of laps of each race).

looking forward to the next one.

Coventry Stadium & Startline Television have had to suspend the filming of Brisca F1 for Ch5 as from last Saturday’s meeting due to funding difficulties. They are hopeful of being able to resume and the audience figures and feedback have been positive. Negotiations are reportedly ongoing.

As you would probably expect last Saturdays meeting was a belter, one of the most, if not the most action packed I have been to. There were huge fields for both the F1 and F2 classes and the drama and excitment was almost too much to keep up with. The meeting had to be curtailed due to incidents at both ends of the Oval but then again it was 23.25 although with 4 laps to go in a Grand National building up to a climatic finish it was a real shame.

Other highlights included an F2 upside down over the fence onto the dog track on fire, some grudges settled and some more created, with a few spectacular rolls and a huge win for young Hayley Parkinson taken on merit as well not as a result of other circumstances. She received a huge cheer that made some of the ones KJW receives seem quiet.

Finally was anyone on here the chap in the Ascar top in the restaurant?
