I think that Britain should symbolically annexe Cuba for 1 day, 1 hour, 1 minute and 1 second; then hand back Cuba to the Cubans.

Why? Because as a former British territory, Cuba might learn the ways of Cricket and Afternoon Tea and then hopefully would join the West Indies Cricket Board and the West Indies Cricket team.
Sint Maarten is a constituent country of the Netherlands and the Virgin Islands are insular area of the United States; so why not?

A Test Match in Havana would be a thing of joy.

 Not likely mate, Cubans are insane about baseball!

In the 1860s, baseball was introduced to Cuba by American sailors on trading vessels that ported in the country and by Cubans who studied in the U.S. and returned tools of the game, like bats and balls. Cubans quickly adopted the sport and leagues started all over the island. By 1869, after the first Cuban War of Independence against colonial Spanish rulers, the game was banned and Cubans were expected to dutifully embrace the Spanish pastime of bullfighting. These efforts to ban the sport quickly gave baseball a deeper significance to the Cuban people and the game itself became symbolic of freedom from their Spanish oppressors. The ban also prompted the first Cuban players to join semi-pro and major league teams in the United States. In 1871, Esteban Bellan became the first Cuban player to play in the American major leagues.

Anything is possible, although I think it is more likely Bernie will put 2 F1 races a season in Cuba, than cricket ever having a chance to compete against hardball. ;)

They are gonna get pricier now, in all senses. Not that I'm interested myself, but just FYI, folks.

That is why I specified dos Gran Premios de Cuba por aņo had a greater degree of likelihood, races that actually had a bearing on the world championship. :bandit: ;)

In the 1950's Havana was an American playground controlled largely by U.S gangsters. As we know, since the revolution that has changed.
It would be great if they brought F1 to Cuba however, because I would find a way to get there.

While it might be cool to have a F1 there, does Cuba have enough cash as a country to pay off Bernie?

They will, as soon as Fousto starts travelling there, spending his hard-earned greenbacks on the local population :D

Could Tobacco sponsorship be displayed on the F1 cars in Cuba but there would probably have to be a broadcast of (tv etc) images with the advertising electronically deleted ?

Wouldn't work. Cigar shaped F1 cars went out in the sixties. Oh wait, ALL the cars in Cuba are from the fifties & sixties. :D

Cuba is a lovely country but it doesnt need a Grand Prix.... South Africa does... last one here was in 1993... and once upon a time it was a favourite amongst the drivers of old
