It wouldn't appear so, apart from the names on the SCSA website nobody seems willing to release a confirmed driver list.
This question has been asked a few times and all people will say is there are X number of weeks to go and there are things going on behind the scenes that nobody can talk about and all will be revealed before the season starts.
So with over a week to go there's still plenty of time LOL.

I take it Oli Playle will not be defending his title?

I take it Oli Playle will not be defending his title?

According to a seperate thread it doesn't seem as though West Tec are running any cars this year, so unless somebody else is running him it wouldn't appear so.
But as i said in my previous post without a finalised drivers list, who knows?

I take it Oli Playle will not be defending his title?

I heard his parents had pulled the plug on funding his racing, so he won't be defending his title.

As there has never been a list of confirmed drivers until they get out for Qualy on the Saturday I think you may be overly optimistic.

Any news on Phil Weaver running this year? The pit walk wont be the same without his catchpole girls.

I don’t think he will be racing this year. Unless he races someone else’s car, most of the mechanics are working with other teams.

Phil's car is up for sale. It's currently in Revolution's unit.

If I win the lottery, I'll add it to the collection!!!!

That's after I've rebuilt chassis 05900

Surely with just a over a week to go they must have some idea of who will be racing, you can't expect the paying public to come and watch if they have no idea of how many and who they will be watching.
Are you seriously trying to say that in previous seasons people didn't know who would be racing until the Saturday on the start of the season!
This year more than ever SCSA need to get of to a good start to ensure continuity throughout the year, come on guys give us some idea of what to expect on the opening weekend.
I am optimistic at the start of every year only to be dissapointed.

The regulations have only just come back from the MSA, so without regs, you can't open for entries!! I received my entry pack yesterday via email, and have emailed my championship registration form back, and have to fax my race entries off asap.

Some interesting changes to the regs. Don't think there's any other series in the world with such tight spring rate ranges, what are they based on? Are the cars really just getting a 15 min qualy session and then the race?! Good luck to everyone who's racing in the series this year!

The regs say a minimum of 15 minutes qualifying, subject to it being dry conditions, otherwise other forms of sorting grid order (such as championship positions) will be used

Really glad, from a spectator point of view, to see the quali has been extended slightly to 40 mins, was far too short before

Does anyone have any idea what this year's SCSA car/spotter radio frequencies are likely to be for the cars quoted above?

racing59

I'll be on Ch.19

That's 1-9 for a copy good buddy!!

On a serious point as I'm in the comms trade, and have a suppliers licence, I have 5 UHF frequencies available. The one I use will be subject to some checks on race day to ensure that my channel is far enough away from everyone else.

Does anybody have a confirmed entry list for this weekend yet? I realise it's difficult to a degree, but how do you expect to attract spectators if you can't even put out a list of competitors, however sketchy that may be!!!!!

Tser

I'm certain that list isn't right, maybe tomorrow or even Saturday?

uskram
26th April 2007, 14:44
So even even with all these so called "people in the know" on this forum, not one of you can give me an entry list!
I love ASCAR, yes I still call it that, and I really appreciate all the hard work that has gone on since last season to keep it going but..... If the series is to survive more information has to be released to the public to create interest. Apart from diehard fans like ourselves who is going to turn up to an event when you are not even sure of nimbers.
Yes, yes, I know someone is going to come back and say that pick-ups is a big draw, but I still prefer the sound of 20, at least V8's rumbling around the Rock and I know all the friends that used to come to Rockingham with me agree. Soz....

Prediction - SCSA: 12 or 13 Cars
Prediction - Pickup: 30 or 31 Cars

I believe the Pickups' will have a record number of cars racing this weekend - numbers which one could only dream about in past years.

Weather: Warm and sunny

Come on you Saints

30-31!! thats fantastic news, I hope your right the grid numbers did seem to be slightly down on last year.
I looked at the pickups on the stand at the BTCC and realised really they are just as big and just as fast as a BTCC car. They really our one of the UK's best series at the moment.

As for SCSA 12-13 would be fine just need the racing to be close throughout the field.

30 trucks will be awesome but I can't see it. 26-27 I reckon.

The 2007 Blue Book says racing cars upto 2000cc are limited to 28 on the Oval - so maybe SHPs 'plan C' will come into force?

I'll guess at SCSA 10-12 but i do think it will be very spread out or worse, and I hope not, artificially controlled like the first race last year in the damp.

Reynard
26th April 2007, 16:15
I think 27 trucks is likely to be the turn out - and as long as the lads keep their noses clean, should be a great show. Can't wait to immortalize their antics on camera.

SCSA cars - well, a dozen would be absolutely brilliant to start the season with. I don't think they'll get too spread out as I reckon that the likely participants are actually pretty closely matched, more so than in previous years IMHO. Remember that last season we did see some super battles on track between assorted protagonists and I'd be willing to stick my neck out and say that just about anyone is capable of winning a race this season.

Championship wise, Colin, Hunter or John S I would imagine, but depends on who makes the most consistent start.

Tony Hurdle and Lee O'Keef showed good pace last year aswell so i'd see them competing for a win.
