Well you are free to not visit this thread.

I'm trying to make it hard that's all. All to often someone picks the cars out in one guess. All the current guesses are wrong :erm:

I'll give you some info. It's not french :)

Daniel
11th December 2006, 22:47
Can you help by putting the image the right way round!
No. You can look at it upside down ;)

Daniel
11th December 2006, 23:06
a giulia? did they have fiberglass?
Giulia is too old :p

Pick a car in the middle of the 147 and Giulia and you'll probably be right :p

Juha
11th December 2006, 23:09
Fiat 124 Abarth?

Daniel
11th December 2006, 23:11
Close. Close close.

Firstly GTV could refer to a few different Alfa's and this one was not of GTV spec. They had a reputation for catching on fire if that gives you a clue.

Daniel
11th December 2006, 23:11
Get in quick with the right one FrankenTrabbie ;)

Tomski
11th December 2006, 23:12
Alfa GTV6 as driven by Yves Loubet?

Daniel
11th December 2006, 23:14
I said it's not a GTV6 :) same shape different engine. I know I'm being anal but it's a different car :erm:

Tomski
11th December 2006, 23:17
Next time can we have an image we realistically stand a chance of getting rather than palying 20 questions?

FrankenSchwinn
11th December 2006, 23:20
ok, and what part of that car did you cut from to make us go crazy like you did?

thanks to the site: http://www.italian-cars-club.com/le-site/Alfa-GT-GTV.htm for the info on the GTV's.....

Daniel
11th December 2006, 23:25
Next time can we have an image we realistically stand a chance of getting rather than palying 20 questions?
Well I kinda thought the red/black would kinda give it away :)

It was the bonnet and fender that you first saw. One of the vents was in it

FrankenSchwinn
11th December 2006, 23:26
this next one could go either really fast or really slow as this car and driver are sort of famous.

12th December 2006, 02:19
nah, looks similar to a mini, but not.

Daniel
12th December 2006, 02:23

FrankenSchwinn

HAHA! stevoevo, good one, but no, i dont deal with trabants anymore!

it's not british, it's not a volvo.

tips: it's got 65hp, it's a 1963 model, did its first monte in the 60's and has had DNFs for the past couple of years at the monte historique. it's a typical frank type of car, sort of rare, old, and sort of weird.

StevoEvo

Vw 1500s

FrankenSchwinn
12th December 2006, 15:27
i'll take 1500s. i would have also taken Notchback, or Type 3.

basically the car was built for Norge's Kjell Gudim (sp?) for the 64 monte. it won rally sorland in 66 when gudim was co driven by monty karlan. monty then got a hold of the car in the mid/late 90's and took it to second place at the motecarlo historique in 99 or 2000. then it was sold to another norwegian by the name of jan skutte (sp?) who got it to a famed german shop called the bugbox where it was restored. since then though, it has failed to finish monte carlo historique! strange if you ask me because usually the bugbox does good work. i absolutly love this car and i love old veedubs so with great pleasure, here is the picture that i got from the bugbox website (http://www.1-4-3-2-go.com):

No worries Steve it was mentioned in post #40 -

"Can you please stop asking questions out of turn. This thread is bad enough with only one car to guess. You can post a new picture when you guess what the old one is. That's the way this thread works......."

That's kind of the unwritten rule on the thread. But it can often take a day or two before the original poster replies. But keep guessing (as I'm sure you will get the chance to post a car soon) as the thread progresses and if there is a long delay somebody can step in. BTW, that's an Avenger so Sir Tomski wins.

No, Steve (or the picture source) got it wrong, That is a Hillman (an old Chrysler brand) Avenger and that's why it was a Dodge in South America. The Viva was a Vauxhall (a GM brand) model.

So that car was called Viva in England? Here (in Argentina) it was manufacturered by Chrysler and sold under Dodge 1500 badge. Interesting.

Ahh, now that you mentioned, I remeber my father told about the "Dodge 1500" being a Hillman, you are right. Thanks.

You know that the mechanical base for the iranian Paikan which was (or still is) produced by Iran Khodro is that Hillaman?
Some argentinean parts suppliers, which used to be suppliers for the Dodge 1500 were contacted by iranians for some gearbox parts for that car.

noel157
13th December 2006, 01:27
Zeque, I think the Paikan was a version of the Hillman Minx which was the 4 door sedan before the Hillman Avenger.

Could be an Innocenti A112 Frank. Or maybe a Fiat 850?

13th December 2006, 09:22
Ooops, meant Autobianchi A112!

Vilkavainen
13th December 2006, 10:20

LeonBrooke, if you've played in the old thread, we got a lot harder pics than this. It's still very guessable.

Ford Focus?

FrankenSchwinn
15th December 2006, 09:45
not a focus.

and you are right paddy, the very very first thread had some ridiculous pictures that were about 3mm big!

having said that, i also want to emphasise that some just write a name just to write a name and do not take an educated guess. you have to analyse the picture and notice that it looks like the tire is smoking a little and look at the body panel as well as the type of rim and try to match them to ideas you might have.
