View Full Version : Rate the Race Results

Based on a suggestion in the Spanish Rate the Race thread, I will collect all actual 1-10/10 ratings and average them out.

Then after each race just for fun I will post the overall Motorsport Forum Rating of the Race for each Race and then rank them

Bare in mind its only for fun.

A few points I would like to make.

As I only started the rate the race thread after Malaysia I have given my honest opinion of Australia and given it 5.5/10 as a rating as I have no results for that.

Also I will count any whole number or .5 number in the results. Any random 6.27 numbers will get rounded up or down to the nearest .5 for ease.

So there we go, just for fun and so that we can see how we viewed the season come the end. Obviously different races have different amounts of voters. So its quite fluid.

Also I will class the closing date for vote as 1 week after the Race ends. i.e the next Sunday.

OK lets go.

As I didnt run it then, I have given it a 5.5 out of 10 as I felt it was just above average.

So after 1 Round

1. Australia 5.5/10

So Round 6 of the Championship and apart from the amazing Bahrain GP, the Monaco GP a couple of weeks ago was the best GP so far. Slotting in just ahead of Australia.

2014 Monaco GP

10 Votes

Highest Rating: 8/10 x2- rjbetty & Mia
Lowest Rating: 3/10 - driveace

The rating of the Monaco GP by Motorsport Forums Posters was 5.7 out of 10.

So there we go. I reckon Canada could slot into 2nd following this weekend. Maybe over 6/10 average.

Round 7 and for the second race in a row we had one that appears to have been rated highly on entertainment.

2014 Canadian GP

10 Votes

Highest Vote: 9/10 - Mia
Lowest Vote: 7/10 - Henners, Storm, Jag_warrior

The rating of the Canadian GP by Motorsport Forums Posters was: 7.7/10

1. Bahrain GP - 8.9
2. Canada GP - 7.7
3. Monaco GP - 5.7
4. Australian GP - 5.5
5. Malaysian GP - 5.2

7. Spanish GP- 4.5

So 7 races in and we have two races of the last two in second and third. Looking forward to seeing what Austria brings. That always used to produce exciting racing.

I'm pulling for Austria to be in the sevens :dork:

Since this year is the year of the unexpected, I'm afraid Austria will be dead boring. Nobody expected aynthing from Bahrain and it was the best race so far. Australia is usually good and it was ridiculously dull. Canada is one of the tracks where engine power counts the most, yet the most crap engine won in the back of a RB, so expecting Austria to be good may as well mean that it'll be mind-numbingly boring.

I also have had a strange feeling that Austria may be a bit of a borefest with 19 finishers and not much happening... Hope that's wrong, as I always felt the 7 races between 1997-2003 were some of the more interesting races in their respective seasons.

It is hard to know what to expect dj, I'm just along for the ride. TBH my comment was a veiled reference (allegory) to caring about how these ratings come out, you know, if it is in the sevens I enjoyed it whether I knew it or not.
This in no way means I don't appreciate the work Steve puts into this thread, because it is interesting having a census of members opinions ;)

Round 8 and we arrived at the Red Bull / A1 ring. I have to say I expected a really good race here and while it was very entertaining it was not quite so chaotic as some before it.

2014 Austrian GP

Only 7 votes for Austria :(

Highest Score: 9/10 - Whyzars ( I like your look out on F1. Always gives a high rating)
Lowest Score: 3.5/10 - N4D13

The overall rating for the 2014 Austrian GP by Motorsport Forums Posters: 6.6

Motorsport Forums 2014 Race Ratings

1. Bahrain GP - 8.9
2. Canadian GP - 7.7
3. Austrian GP - 6.6
4. Monaco GP - 5.7
5. Australian GP -5.5
6. Malaysian GP - 5.2
7. Chinese GP - 5.1
8. Spanish GP - 4.5

So there we have it. Austria slots in 3rd and it matches the fact the season has closed up slightly in the last 3 races for many reasons.

Round 9 and the British GP. The race can often vary greatly. Either a classic or a very stale race I tend to find.

2014 British GP

Round 10 and the German GP. It was a decent race, but a lack of front of the field battle made it slightly less that brilliant IMO

2014 German GP

Just 7 Votes for Germany :(

Highest Rating: 9/10 - Whyzars

Anyway this will almost certainly go to the top of our charts.

2014 Hungary GP

Wow, there you have it guys Hungary smashes the old Bahrain record and leaps to 9.6/10 and 1st place.

Safe to say that must say at Number 1?

Anyway, who predicted at the season start that Hungary would probably be the best race of the season and an all time classic

Storm

Unless we get a great title decider (with double points) which trumps it Hungary probably will stay at 1.

2014 Singapore GP

6 Votes

So the last two races have slotted in 8th & 10th. Not the best period of the Championship.

Next up is Japan, which in my view despite being a great track, can be hit or miss as a race. Lets hope a few more people vote

I am surprised Canada is so low. I have forgotten to rate the races here, but I would have given a 10 or 9.5 to Canada... With perhaps only Hungary having the ability to match it.

I think some manic Hamilton fans rated after the race being a bit down and gave it a lower score.

Actually I don't think that is the case as I believe all observers were reasonable in their ratings. I mean Canada is only rated fractionally below the top 3.
One Hamiltonian did comment:

I'd give the race an 8 - maybe a 9 if it had happened on the exact same lap, within sight of each other. But since only my guy's Merc died, I have to give it a 7/10. ;)
