Given that Malcolm Wilson has talked about getting his R5 in ERC and Tanak is Estonian, is it safe to assume he will be there?

In my opinion it will be a suprise if Bouffier is going there. He seems to have a more narrow contract with Hyundai this year than last one, with more promotional duties too (he´s been to Sardinia too for promotional issues). Even if he lacks the budget, I´m sure he could have found the money for more ERC-rallies this year besides Lativa and Greece, if it wasn´t for his Hyundai contract.

Lukyanuk will do at least Rally Estonia Estonian Championship with his Evo X. He told that his aim is Estonian Championship and Russian Championship title this year. So, if he wants GrN title, he must drive his Evo X.
Kruuda also told that he has now agreement with Peugeot for Poland, Finland and Rally Estonia.

No Karl Kruuda there
Just yesterday Kruuda posted a newsletter that he'll do Rally Estonia and Rally Finland. Original plan is to do both with 208 R5, but of course after the extensive damage caused by a crash in Poland, it's reconsidered whether he can do Otepää with Peugeot or will he use Fiesta S2000.
Kruuda’s next event is the ERC-counting auto24 Rally Estonia from July 17-19 where he will be one of the favourites for victory having won the Super 2000 class for the last two years. The high-speed gravel event will also serve as the perfect warm-up for Rally Finland, where he returns to WRC 2 duty from July 31-August 3.
“I am pushing to use the Peugeot for Estonia rather than the Ford Fiesta I also drive and I hope it’s possible because Estonian is our next focus,” said Kruuda. “We have to remember things like what happened in Poland happen to everyone and you have to learn from the mistakes.”

Egon Kaur with Evo X and Rainer Aus with Evo IX are also included in ERC list now.
That makes total ERC list to 65 crews (note that some Estonians are driving with finnish licence and under finnish flag - Koitla, Kruuda, Murakas).
Total entry list for the whole rally is around 170 crews.
Anyone speaking Estonian, can find traffic notes and parking restrictions during SSS here:

I would say that this is the most spectacular city stage I have ever seen. It is partly like cobble stones, asfalt, uphill and downhill, probably some jumps (I have walked along this stage around hundred times and I belive that there is at least one jump), some very narrow corners and great viewing spots. There are even some bridges you can cross the stage during the live stage (no viewing allowed on the bridges, just for passing).
Whole stage is also shown live in couple of places on the stage (with some big screens), I belive, it is possible to see it in internet as well.

Weather update:
It has been relatively dry on rally stages during the last week (it was raining further south were the tests were held).
Tomorrow should be nice weather, some sun, some clouds, most probably no rain, temperature mostly between +19..+21 light wind
Friday, should be even nicer weather, some sun, ome clouds most probably no rain, temperature mostly +19..+23, light wind
Saturday, should be a bit more cloudier, still some sun, light wind, temperature from +19..+24. Rain possibility a bit higher, if it comes then it will be a little.
Night people, take some warmer jackets, it can be mostly between +15..+19 during the night.
See you all tomorrow.. will start at 07:30 from Tallinn to service and then to shakedown and qualification. I will be on the "old house" junction. Wearing some black, strange Bulgarian T-shirt :-P

Lappi was slower in shakedown too, quite surprising for these types of roads.
On Skoda QS video you can see Wiegand was driving more with the torque whereas Lappi kept shifting down to get more revs.

Jeppe: What to say? I am little bit disappointed and little bit angry. No test before Ypres, no test before Estonia. Wondering whether Skoda really wants the ERC drivers title or not? I understand it is easy to beat Peugeot this year because of those technical problems, but they will not have so much luck all the time in future.
Mirek: Yes, it is true. Lappi shall be faster than Wiegand. Maybe too much pressure. Lappi must finish and get some points. Who knows?
It's clear from stage times of N4 cars that top speed matters a lot here.

Why is Tushkanova listed excluded?
It's clear from stage times of N4 cars that top speed matters a lot here.
Yes for sure that is the main reason, but I would also point out the characteristic of the roads, often winding through fields and there "crazy" N4 drivers can take Massive risks because for example like in Finland, there isn't anything solid to hit. Ofcourse this is a generalization and for sure most of the time also on these stages there is something to hit.

18th July 2014, 12:52
For sure the NA S2000 lacks of speed. Makes difference.
Normal service resumes for Lappi on SS3.
I am a little surprised the 208s and DS3 aren't faster though, with their high top speed.

I have to say that Chardonnnet is a big disappointment to me. I heard his name here and there and thought he was supposed to be a new talent. But just look at his stage times... Only 9th overal after SS10, over 2 minutes behind the leader. Also big disappointments are Sohlberg and Tarabus.
On the other hand - Tanak is doing fantastic job. So far 9 out 10 stages won! Well done!

More problems for the 208T16...
"Siim Plangi’s delay on stage 11 of auto24 Rally Estonia was down to a clutch problem on his Peugeot Baltic-backed 208 T16.
The Sainéloc Junior Team driver, who is competing in the same car Craig Breen used to win the ERC-counting Acropolis Rally earlier this season, dropped from eighth to 10th when the fault occurred 10 kilometres from the finish of the 28.77-kilometre Saku Vaabina stage earlier this afternoon.
“I lost at least a minute, it’s said but there’s nothing I can do,” said Plangi, who is making his debut in the Peugeot on his home round of the ERC. "
Although Kruda's car is still mechanically ok, but he's lost confidence in the fast parts and quite downbeat...

How different are WRC gravel tyres compared to ERC gravel tyres (Michelin)? Could this explain part of the gap between Chardonnet and the top drivers?
I don't think Cardonnet has been on the WRC tyres for the whole rally?
Meanwhile, it sounds as if Wiegand only just changed to the long gearbox and Lappi is still with the shorter gearbox?!

I guess he has the possibility to train a lot. No one knows what it will become of him in a few years though. Speed isn´t always a matter of having it from the start (however it´s the most common thing)...

Just some facts from rally:
Tänak was driving DMack WRC tires throughout the rally
Chardonnet was driving with Pirelli WRC tires on the 2nd day to practice for NORF
This makes Tänak's win even more impressive :)
Disappointment of the rally goes to Lappi and Kruuda, even though I'm not so sure if it was the car or the driver's fault.

I am able to conclude my rally, finally!
It was superb rally! We started early in the morning from Tallinn to reach to the shakedown stage. I tried new approach road to the old house corner and I found out that it was the easiest access road there (less than 1 km walking in the nice forrest track). There was a huge difference between different drivers and it was clearly visible that four drivers were above the rest: Tänak, Kangur, Kõrge and Lukjanuk. Kangur was taking some unbelivable risks and we were thinking that sooner or later it is not going to end well. It went like expected. Lappi in the shakedown was very dissapointing while Wiegand was driving very well. Eli Evans was very impressive! We also witnessed when one Russian young driver crashed into the house. He was driving quite well.. he just got too much sideways corrected too much to the right and hit the house with right front corner. It was pretty high-speed crash. Everyone OK.
Beginning of next day was not too early. There were some threatening clouds but no rain reched to the stages as I was predicting. We spectated stage 2, 4 in the first prohibited area. This area is mostly very narrow and there are just a few spectating spots (the reason for prohibiting this area is mainly because of difficult access. So, we approcahed there via the forrest again. 500 meters was nice forrest track but last 500 meters was very difficult harvested forrest. When we reached there via the forrest then there was no problem and we were standing on a pretty high bank inside the corner just after a small jump and nearly 90 dgrees left. Second pass was extremely fast and many drivers were pretty surprised by their sideways jumps. Chardonnet was off road there and just a few centimeters from a big tree. It was very lucky escape for him. We also met „sindroms“ there. I hope his head is OK now? There was a little stone that flew from Kees Burger car and hit his head (some ketchup for cheesburger :-P)
Then we moved to the stage nr 5 and 7. We missed couple of first cars but we were expecting it. We were watching very fast place with small jumps and with one very tricky jump. Fiesta R2-s were flying funnily there (rear end wanted to pass the front). No big moments there, just some very high speed action (one boy with speedgun measured Lukjanuk´s speed there, it was 176 km/h)
We also reached to the city stage. There was a huge amount of spectators and we decided immediately to abandon our initial plans and we moved to my fraternity house garden. Rally was basically at our home. We had very nice time there and we saw two nice corners there. Tänak did some extremely precise driving there and he was using 100% of the road there (taking more road width from the pedestrians path). Tarabus was very nice here as well.
Last morning was with very late start (we had a long party on previous night – so, it was good). I had really bad internet connection in the morning and I was predicting completly dry morning stages. Suddenly some thunderclouds jumped out from nowhere. But it was not a big problem. Big rain hit only last couple of kilometers on SS 10 and SS 11 was completely dry. We were on long right corner with some interesting chicane. A lot of fun was there and some very kind local people who were selling delicious, homemade pies etc. For next loop I told that there should be taken a safe choice of tyres, as there was a huge risk of rain and 1/3 of the frist stage was still a bit damp. However, it was raining all around the stages and no rain reached to these stages. So, Ott was on wrong tyres but stil won both runs.
For the last stage we moved to the penultimate stage (opposide side of the road to Teemu/Rallirini.net - discovered from the video). There was some thunder and threatening clouds but my last words to the service were that it will be mostly dry and maybe some humidity at the end of next stage. So, I was correct this time. Jeets had a huge crash just a few km from us ( I was spectating on that corner in 2009, extremely spectacular corner after the jump but no space for many spectators). It was a huge crash and lucky that they are probably both home from hospital by now (with some broken bones – legs, hand and ribs).
My final conslusions:
Tänak, Kõrge, Aus, Lukjanuk were all driving very well. Kõrge was a bit rusty in places and Aus had some very nice driving lines, very different to most of the drivers.
Lappi – extremely bad driving. No commitment, no trust on blind corners and crests not worthy drive for ERC leader.
Eli Evans and Sander Pärn- really nice drive by both with 2wd
Domzala was the biggest surprise behing the Ds3R3 wheel, beautiful drive.
Chardonnet – often too wide, spectacular
All Peugeots – it looked like they were trying hard, but seems that 208T16 is not yet a car for fast gravel stages. A lot of developement is still needed here.
Rally Estonia – 10 points from 10. only good memories for me.
Here are some nice video including Chardonnet OFF and Kochmar off:
