View Full Version : Welcome to the New Forums!

You may have spotted that the forum software has changed, back to vBulletin which is what we were using before the big forum hack and many have expressed a preference to going back to, so here we are finally :D
Some issues to be aware of:
* Your login should be the same as you've been using, however it relies on contacting the old database to verify the password - this has quite a possibility of going wrong, so if you can't login let me know (details below) and I'll reset your password
* Permissions were not inherited from the old forums, these have to be set up from scratch, if it says you're banned, don't worry you aren't! Again let me know
* Any other issues you find again let me know, there's bound to be loads.
* New registrations are currently disabled until the spam firewall is in place - we got inundated with spam just during the install process!

Wow. Hi all It looks Good.
Few questions (no rush to answer just wondering)
- How come Mark you've only got 21 posts?
-Will in time the "Like" Button be able to return?
-Will we have a lot more fun on this version?
-Where do I find smilie's? I don't appear to have any editing tools at all. Including like slowson said, no bold/underlined

Thank You Mark for going back to this forum. Take Your time for solving all gremlins :)
Quotes work for me. Editing my posts too. Larger photos embed in forum work. Ignore list works (when I put the members there again).
Here few points from me for the future.
When I deleted my post I could still see an empty post with my name with no icons for editing or reporting. Is that purposed feature? You can check here if you see it too: http://www.motorsportforums.com/showthread.php?28327-R5-News/page155 (below post 1548)
Is it planned to make embed videos working?
Is it planned to implement "view new posts" and "view unread posts" features for subforums?

Thanks for the "new" forum back again. Take your time. Let´s hope to see some old members back.
Will the Pickem´s follow the new look and will it appear before Portugal (those of you involved)?
The dates of old posts are in four (three) numbers - is that a overcoming problem or something we´ll have to live with. I suppose new posts will have proper dates.

There is a work around for this and that is that you can google smileys and link them as embedded images using the img tags.
The same goes for smileys from other forums. like this: Londoners when they wakes up and realizes that there is half an inch
of snow on the ground: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/images/smilies/scare.gif ;)

I have started having issues that I thought I would let you know about.
Now the old threads have been rediscovered I am getting the threads in a jumbled up order.
I go down the page to Thread Display Options and it is ordering the threads by "Thread Title". I change it too "Last Date" as I normally view threads. (with latest threads active listed first) and select "Descending" order and it returns to as I am used to
Threads listed with most recent activity at the top going down as the threads get older. Which is OK
Then I go into a thread and when I return to the Forum homepage all the threads are jumbled up again and I have to change settings once more. It continues every time I leave a thread over and over again.
Is this happening to everyone?
Mark

Hi
Realise things are busy ... no urgency ...
If I select to subscribe from the "Thread Tools" ... I get a message that I'm banned ...
However, clicking on "Thread Tools" a second time suggests I am subscribed since the option has changed to "Unsubscribe from this Thread".
However, on my Control Panel page (or whatever the term is) under "Subscriptions" ... nothing is listed.
Also, under "Edit Email and Password" in settings ... there does not appear to be an option to edit email address.
Thanks! Good luck! :)

Nice to have this back! But I have a few issues with it:
Sometimes when I click the 'go to first unread message' button next to the thread title (two down arrows), I just takes me to the very last message of the thread and not where I left the last time I was here.
Editing a reply in advanced does not show the usual button to insert image, url, emoticons etc. Is this a browser problem? I am using chrome (both Mac and Win).
