We all talk about various drivers like Bouffier who do not have a seat. I wanted to know how feasible it would be to get a group together to sponsor a ride for someone?
Like, I sell TShirts on Redbubble and Zazzle that I can raise some funds. Would it be possible for a group to throw their weight behind a few fundraisers and have rally fans give a driver an event? Maybe some eBay auctions of old stuff etc?

It has been done in the past, If I recall correctly that's how Hayden Paddon funded his campaign last year. I think in order to achieve that kind of money it has to be a very popular driver.
Without knowing prices for sure, I would say a WRC car for a WRC event must be around 200-300 thousand euros, anyway someone here on the forums may have more accurate data about price.

A lot! Without buying the car it costs easily £5k to run an R1 in one event in the BRC, so WRC is going to be many, many times that...and that's without the car.

I think a WRC car is about 400 euro for km. Maybe more at top teams. Most rally s are about 200km. 80.000 euro for 1 rally.

It depends on a rally, who is going to rent it and what car you plan to rent and for how many events. Well know driver, with possible good result might get a WRC with around 100-150 k.

During the Subaru, Mitsu, Focus, 206, Xsara era, I remember the official cost of the car published by some teams.
Total cost of the car was close to 1 million. Just the gearbox was 200K.
Of course, that was the most expensive time in WRC, one of the reasons Subaru and Mitsu left.
If I have to guess now, 600K will probably buy you a WRC car, just the car.
I have no idea what the cost for running this car is.

80 000 euro is for RRC car in one ERC rally

Rent 120-150k€ includes all rally costs, no testing and probably no travel and hotels for driver & co-driver. I would expect that a fast driver could get a bit of discount and of course all is negotiable...

Is that for one event, or all rounds?

Ouch! That sure is expensive, whats an S2000 like a Skoda worth? Sure is a different world to N4 pricing!

I think something like a half of that price for rental Fabia in ERC.

so it sounds as if it is an unrealistic goal. I simply noticed that Bouffier (for instance) had 15,000 followers on his Facebook. If you could get most fans to donate 1 or 2 Euro it might have been a chance. But 80 thousand Euro is too tough to manage.

15 000 followers x 2 euro is too much for WRC and RRC, but it should be enough for S2000 in ERC...

I think it was only "information" question on the beginning of this thread, not serious person interested in renting WRC car.
