Just announced that the entire 2014 Rally America will be broadcast on NBC Sports. It won't be live (looks like most events will be broadcast about 2 weeks after they happen) but still, this is a huge step forward for Rallying in the United States. Even the WRC isn't on TV here. NBC Sports is quickly becoming my favorite American sports network. They already cover Formula 1, IndyCar, Soccer (both Premier League and MLS), Hockey (both NHL and NCAA), the Olympics (including all the Olympic trials), and will start covering NASCAR in 2015. Its a refreshing break from the hegemony of NFL, NBA and MLB coverage that we get in this country (mainly on ESPN and Fox). Finally there's a network that realizes that a sport doesn't have to be invented in America and dominated by Americans to be interesting to an American audience.
Anyway, any thoughts on David Higgins win at Sno*Drift? Looks like he's ready to dominate the championship again, although Ken Block didn't take part in the weekend. Also Travis Pastrana is slated to come back to Rally America with Subaru. I'm not sure whether he and Higgins will be trading off or whether they'll actually get to compete against each other. Either way, should make things interesting.
