Apologies if this has been posted before. Just saw this off another site. Couple of links showing the V8's in full song.

Enjoy.

Next years engines will no doubt be monsters and track records will be broken as always but I'm sarcastically wondering if they'll be given enough fuel to even get the exhaust glowing in 2014...

Supposedly, next years cars will be slower.

Well F1 cars peaked in the 2004 season and restrictive regs have ensured we don't get back to those levels again, for the moment at least.

Running an engine 'lean' actually results in it running hotter"!

Only hotter if the starting point is not lean. They are already running lean and at some point less fuel must equal less heat overall. If that was not true then the absence of fuel would be white hot. :)

I was being sarcastic anyway. If an exhaust isn't glowing an F1 dude will see that as an opportunity to reduce the exhaust weight until it does.

I remember twelves and tens to. Have to move on.

And I remember when the cars had as much fuel as they wanted because fuel is its own penalty.

Why move on?

Hey, thanks for the link, zako. I have discovered a new (to me) site to while away the long months of the non-racing season.

Cheers  :facelick:

I'm not all that bummed to see the V8s go - just as I wasn't so bummed to see the V10s go. Both were (IMO) rather boring engine formulas, though fairly capable and stable engine formulas. Not having engines going BOOM! at least three or four times a race was both good & bad, I suppose. While it's good that they've all been reliable and races and championships don't come down to who has what engine, it's bad in that all the engines are about the same. I'm looking forward to some engine competition next year (unless it negatively affects the driver I'm rooting for - then it's going to be the worst move in the history pf F1).
