Just found this too:

Bon Voyage Dario! Bet he shows up as a team owner, or some other capacity on pit wall.

I was hoping he'd decide to retire after this season. It didn't seem like his heart was in it any longer, and I'd have to think getting a divorce made it hard to concentrate on racing. I hate to see him have to leave on these terms, I would have loved to see him make an Indy-only effort next year, but his injuries say otherwise.

Wise decision by Dario: He has nothing left to prove in IndyCars, having won multiple championships and Indy 500s. Also, he's had his fair amount of accidents and seen too many friends (Greg, Dan) lose their lives.

Sad to see him go. His retirement had to be near though... it feels like a lifetime ago when he and PT were in those KOOL cars. Like gm99 said, he's got nothing left to prove. It may have been a terrible season for Dario but I think he'll still be remembered as going out near the top of his career, with a winning team. He could have been in the hunt for another title or two, we'll never know. Had he run a few more seasons chasing the mid-pack, maybe jumping into any car that would have him, that would have been a sorry end. As much as I hate to see him go, it's probably the right time.
