I have been wondering about this for awhile.
I know a former marketing president for the Kool brand and he told me of the cost pertaining to sponsoring Paul Tracy and Dario Franchitti. Of course I should say the Team Green organization.
It was well over $70 million dollars over five years. That included everything to the transporters,compressors and everything else including salary.
I know that one of the final CART annuals has an article in it and it mention $55 million. The reason for that is that the driver salaries plus team was not included. Ouch.
Tracy was on over $5 million and Dario closer to $7 million. They also had appearance money at events not even tied to the salary.
Tracy (no surprise) was the most difficult to get on with but was extremely likeable. Apparently, the mechanics loved working for him because not only did he offer great praise for
their efforts he was not shy in putting his hand in his wallet.
I wonder what the highest paid drivers are getting directly from their teams.
My non-scientific opinion is,
Franchitti $3million
Kanaan $2 million
Dixon $2 million
Power $1.5
Hinchcliffe (sic) $1.5 million
Marco $2million
RHR $2 million
Vizo ?
Wilson $750.00.
These are guesses of course. I do know for a fact that when Justin Wilson came over he was guaranteed $500.00. Present guess is just that, a guess.
