Congratulations to Dario Franchitti on winning the pole for race #1. Also a good job by Sebastien Bourdais, I'm curious what he's capable of with his Dragon Racing car while starting on the front row in second. The biggest disappointments during qualifying for me were James Hinchcliffe and Mike Conway definitely..

Very good job by Josef Newgarden to sabotage the 1st IndyCar standing start, I should have had money on it!!! Hopefully, IndyCar will try it again for race 2. If not, we wait until October for someone else to sabotage it in Houston!!! I just knew this would happen as soon as IndyCar announced their tweak to the standing start procedures. Maybe this was Barnhart's doing!!!

Looks like we'll have a standing start in Race 2. Hopefully, they will get this one right!!!

Story I saw said it was a sensor on his car not Josef that botched the start.

Ganassi have really gotten their act together recently and Dixon looks increasingly likely to win a third IndyCar championship this year (which would nicely fit his one-every-five years pattern). Bourdais has had his most impressive week-end in IndyCars so far.
Overall, two quite good races with somewhat chaotic last laps.

It were both superb races, however I liked race #1 better than race #2. I've nothing against Scott of course but I'm not such a fan of drivers winning two or three in a row but it's a great job by the New Zealander of course! As a Hélio fan, I can just hope he will remain consistent and keeps putting on those results... A second win would be great too at Mid-Ohio. :)

The Franchitti and Power incident in turn 3 in race 1 reinforced my belief that Franchitti is an expect at pulling hyper-aggressive defensive moves with such finesse that he is on the edge of what's permissible. This reminded me of his defensive move on Takuma Sato in Indy 500. Franchitti may leave a gap, but just enough.

So when I saw how Power crashed, I thought this was a typical Franchitti move. Then I viewed this incident a few times, and it looks now like a mistake by Power. While Franchitti moved aggressively to close the door on Power, he still left enough room, enough for one car width just in case if Power had enough balls to use that space. However, Power's car was extremely erratic. First he tried to overtake on the outside, then sharply steered to the inside. His car started wiggling right and left and they eventually touched. Canceling Franchitti's penalty was a good call. Will Power said "this is hard racing" in interview after the race. He knows he screwed up there.

Can someone explain how Dario was on option tires for only one green lap at the start of the 2nd race and managed to satisfy the rules? I understand that 2 green laps are required for each type of tire. Was it because the right front tire was damaged, even though he touched Helio to cause the problem?

Well...

The explanation the TV broadcast gave was that rule doesn't apply to doubleheader races, because of the limited number of tires available. Since none of the other teams made a stink about it, they apparently knew as well.

;)
