Thanks for the info, i look forward to see how he goes there, he did pretty well in Italy so will be interesting to see how he compares .

I see there are a number of ex WRC cars entered, this will make a good result a bit more difficult.

FYI Henk is only 19 and this will be only the 2nd time he will write his own notes on Recce.

Yes You're right! That stage missed in the last years, now it returns refreshed. Service moved to nearby Arena Veszprem. Other 3 stages are mixed with fast sections and narrow forest sections. One stage of these has a downward tarmac section at the end, with 6-7 hairpins.

Fri, thanks for the link.

I chatted to Henk earlier in the week, from what he said the stages sound quite similar to the Rally we have here next weekend in Port Elizabeth, so is a very good preparation for our own NRC round.

I have never heard anything about rallying in Hungary so will be very interesting to compare his times.

Yes, he was Bútor's team manager from the early 2000s when they used the Saxo Kit Car in the importer team, then later managed the Peugeot Hungaria supported teams. All in all a good thing, as since Skoda left with Herczig, there wasn't really an importer supported team here. Hopefully they can do well and even win a rally or two (Velenczei hasn't won yet, so let's see how he will be doing...)

Today there was the traditional gravel Mikulás Rallye held in Hungary with some interesting foreign guests (Cais, Neubauer, Martin Semerád or Koči). One stage was canceled because an old artillery shell was dug out of the road  Semerád started with Mirage Proto and finished second among non-R5 cars (behind Hevesi with gr.A Evo IV) and Koči won 2WD with Fiesta Rally4.

1. Turán (Polo R5) 49:30,5

What was the problem with Cais and the start selection position?

I saw something on his social media, kind of complaining that for some reason he was the last driver to choose the start position and therefore the only available position was first.

Róbert Bútor has just unveiled his newly bought C3 WRC. It is the ex-Saintéloc Pirelli test car, chassis #20. He sold his Fabia R5, then got his 306 Maxi part exchanged for the C3. He also mentioned that it is completely rebuilt, as there was a customer for Saintéloc for this season to drive the car in the WRC, but due to Covid the money wasn't enough, and the programme was scrapped.
He said that he plans on driving the car for a few more years before complete retirement. He will do 2-3 rallies in a year, this season he plans on doing Pécs, Veszprém and Mikulás, with public and previously announced test before all of the rallies.
Edit: he also got a very extensive spares package, with 120 rims, 5 sets of body panels, Ogier's and Lappi's setups, etc. :D He also mentioned that Ogier's ex-engineer is helping them in the beginnings, and also told them that all the aero upgrade parts and documentation was scrapped when Ogier decided to leave.

Yes, he said that obiously before buying, they discussed this topic as well. The amount of SS km he does is relatively small (he did about 2600km with the Fabia R5 in 3-4 years, including testing). The car is totally refurbished, the engine has 1000km, that has to be refurbished at 4000km. He also added that Citroën Hungary and TRT will be able to help him with these (as the engine, transmission etc. can only be refurbished at Citroën Racing).

Disappointed with another difficult weekend in Hungary. We suffered from an engine issue from start to finish, getting worse, ending the rally without any power left. I’m not happy. We can't continue to have these problems! Now we focus on Portugal. We have a new engine for that

The penultimate round of he hungarian Championship was won this weekend by Ostberg and Eriksen after a pretty dominant display. Early on they had a 30s penalty, which was later removed. 2nd was Hadik after his crash in Veszprém, followed by Velenczei on the last podium step. 4h was Klausz, 5th was Csomós after loosing a lot of time on the first day with a puncture. Turán's torrid season continues, as he was forced to retire with a technical problem (broken driveshaft).

Championship-wise, Hadik's lead is now pretty good over Csomós, with maybe Klausz and Ostberg having an outside chance.

Yes, well done to them, they drove an almost flawless season (Veszprém crash aside) and deservedly became champions. But the breakout this season for me was Csomós and his codriver Attila Nagy, they really got up a notch and if they can eliminate some mistakes which cost them many points (Mecsek crash for example), then they will be big favourites to win the title next year. Of course, terrible season for Turán (he has one every 2nd year), so next year he should be back also, but he just put up his Polo for rent for next year.

TBR have started disassembling the C3, also sent out a request to Citroën Racing for replacement parts. After that comes back can they decide how to continue, but they are pumped up and want to return.

Some news on the C3 WRC: the chassis work is finished, it is going to be painted soon. They also got the offer from Citroën for the parts they need. Bútor said the goal is to have the car finished by the beginning of april, and then have a rollout test in may, with 3 rallies this season.

I'm not sure I understood correctly(despite the Google Translation), but it seems one team in the Hungarian Peugeot Cup would offer a few ERC rounds to the winner(of 2023?)

Interesting presence of young german driver Timo Schulz in the Opel Corsa Rally4 on the first event of hungarian championship next week :)
PS: probably a training for his Junior ERC program

His opponents will be the 11 drivers of the Peugeot Rally Cup and two Ford Fiesta drivers ;)

Very very sad news from Veszprém Rally. Csaba Nemes, well-known Lada VFTS co-driver and driver died this morning on SS1 in an accident. What's even worse is that his son was co-driving him this weekend. He was a legendary figure in the VFTS community, claiming multiple titles in the early 2000s co-driving for Péter Osváth. Rest in peace!

He was taken to hospital for further checks.
There is currently a memorial going on for Csaba in the SP.
Edit: and of course, the rally was stopped immediately after SS2.

I have to correct myself, it was his brother, Richárd, co-driving him, not his son.
Richárd was taken to hospital with minor injuries, his back/shoulder was hurt a bit.
