Auto24 Rally Estonia 2013 [Archive]

Auto 24 Rally Estonia has had its own thread for last two years. This year in no different. Moreover, it is expected that Auto24 Rally Estonia will be included in ERC in 2014.
This year, dates are 19.-20. July, good time to test for NORF

This is the official site: Rally Estonia 2013 - (http://www.rallyestonia.com/rally/en/)
VW distributer is among the main sponsors as you can see from the official site. It might be the comback rally for Al Raji. There are many entries expected. Always nice event.

It is as a part of Estonian Rally championship and FIA Historic Rally Championship.

In an interview for his local regional newspaper Ilkka, Jari-Matti Latvala explains his summer schedule and says his attempting to have a new car for a historic rally in Estonia. To me it sounds, with VW deal, he must ditch the TJJ-777 Escort MkII and try and find a historic car with VW in the emblem. Can mid-80s Golfs be used in ERC Historics? Perhaps new challenges of FWD for JML ahead :-)

Jari Latvala participated in small Estonian rally last weekend , and he confirmed Audi Quattro for Jari-Matti for Rally Estonia :)

Not in the entry list yet but Karl Kruuda and Martin Järveoja have announced in their FB page that they will do auto24 Rally Estonia and Rally Finland with Ford Fiesta R5. So there will be two R5 Fiestas in auto24 Rally Estonia.

1st competitive outing for the R5 has already been, Elfyn Evans drove one on the Pirelli Rally in UK in May and will drive one on the Nicky Grist Stages next weekend too.

That Evans will drive R5, but won't hand in time sheets at the end of the rally - which to me sounds that they don't want to be at the end results. Not handing in time sheets (normally in case of loosing them, fe. Barrable in Barum 2011), you get excluded.

As said, both Kruuda and Kangur are in the entry list of auto24 Rally Estonia with Ford Fiesta R5 cars. Also Georg Gross with Focus WRC 08. And everybody are waiting Ott Tänak's entry. Two hours left before entries close.

That Evans will drive R5, but won't hand in time sheets at the end of the rally - which to me sounds that they don't want to be at the end results. Not handing in time sheets (normally in case of loosing them, fe. Barrable in Barum 2011), you get excluded.

The reason being the event is on organisers route notes, and Elfyn will be reccing the stages and therefore having a unfair advantage, so will not hand in time cards at the finish. Its done quiet oftern by 'big names' in this country as a way of competitively testing a car.

We skipped Rally Estonia last year. Won't happen this year. We will definately be there for 3rd time :)

About GAZ's... This is from "Ralli Gaz" - Facebook user:

Firts car will start in Friday 16:55 and first GAZ will start at 19.55. In friday they have 2 stages SS1 13,10 km ja SS 2 28,74 km. In Saturday will be also 2 stages - SS 4 13,34 km ja SS 5 24,24 km.

This is where it gets interesting... SS2 = 28,74km? There is no such stage according to itinerary.
BUT... SS2 Rimmi (13,10km) + SS2-SS3 liaison (2,19km) + SS3 Linnamäe (13,55km) = 28,84km.

Any info about this?

As far as I can understand.. there will not be stage nr 1, but there will be stage 2 that is much longer and as you said.. two stages are put together + liaision. However, this is not official information yet.

We skipped Rally Estonia last year. Won't happen this year. We will definately be there for 3rd time :)

Rally Estonia is gonna be somekind of tradition for me soon :) 3rd time on a row this year. And back to basics, I think that we are going to sleep on a car or in a tent this year :D whitout any luxuries..

Any new sections this year?

Damn. I liked that stage very much and my plan was to catch SS1 and SS4 in 1st day. Ok, it's still possible to see SS2 and SS4, without major loses - only 30 cars in less than if there was SS1.

Yes, new maps are online now. And SS1 is cancelled. So only 3 stages on friday, but SS2 have got some more kilometers. And if I look right about the maps, there is few really interesting places to spectate now ;)

Todays news: Sadly Ott Tänak will not participate in auto24 Rally Estonia. But he will drive Otepää Super Special on Friday evening as a part of show where he will compete against two Dakar bikes ride by Toomas Triisa and Meeru, members of Dakar Rally Team Estonia. Who is fastest and will do the longest jump those are some parts of the show. Like last year Otepää Super Special will be broadcasted live in TV6 Estonia and also in internet via delfi.ee and auto24.ee

I think he made some small mistake on the frist junction. I was 200 meters before it and heared that this junction took hime more time tham other cars. It is sharp left junction on the uphill. Great day today.. huge crowds! Now.. time to go to sleep. I am already inside my tent and almost sleeping :-9

What I have seen so far, Lucas, both R5's and Kaur have been absolutely amazing. Specially Lucas with his extremely flamboyant style followed bu Kruuda. Pure spectacle!

ASRT team has plans to purchase a few R5 models. There were talks about plans to enter Lukyanuk next year ERC - full season. Nothing is uncertain yet.
