Possibly easier to generate sponsorship revenue, due to it being a event with great media exposure. There's no doubting their engineering expertise, but their business model for running a rally team in the present day environment could seriously do with a trip in a delorean at 88mph.

So they announce they'd like to be there, hoping somebody will come up with a bag of money and tell them "build me a car" :rotflmao:

Miserable end for one pathetic team.

You've summed Prodrive up quite well there.

The Mini WRC programme was a joke - tell Mini they just have to homologate the car, Prodrive will find a sponsor, then cry when Mini dont give them money.
The complete lies they feed Motorsport News about potential drivers and rally entries are a joke.
The way they treated Kris Meeke, stealing probably the best years of his career was a joke.
They showed up at a BRC press day sying they were going to build an R3 car, must've been a joke too.

On the bright side, M-Sport seem to be heading in the same direction.......

Pity DR never had the cajones to come out and explain the whole situation, but I guess that will never happen. Suppose if Dakar doesn't work there's always RallyX and then if that doesn't work.....

Agree completley. As much as I hated what thy did to Kris, the thing I regret most is buying MINI WRC Team merchandise. What a waste of money. May as well have bought a 01A for all the use it is.

Not when it'd probably leave Prodrive looking very silly
