To date speeds have topped out at about 225-mph, however that is in 'pack racing' practices where the aerodynamic pull aides speeds.
Also keep in mind that starting Fri. 5/16, they are allowing extra turbo boost for qualifying only (will be reduced back to standard for the race).

Therefore my prediction is 228.5-mph

I think about it in terms of the average lap time.
The weather will have a lot to do with it, as will the extra turbo boost they will be allowed.

But if the weather is favorable for qualifying for the top performing cars, I figure it will take a 4 lap average of about 39.25 seconds (229.3 mph) per lap.

A 40.000 second lap is an average speed of 225.0 mph.
