The 'best' ever would be Michael Schumacher as his record speaks for itself. 91 race victories and a 7 times WDC.

The 'greatest' driver of all time is more difficult to determine and will no doubt change from person to person. Greatest is not the same as being the best, for obvious reasons. My two favourite greats are Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna. :)

One does not turn on his thinker, when writing such a response. Poor.

Alonso is the best driver overall.
Hamilton is the fastest.

The one who finishes first.

That would be "whose tyres last the longest".

First rule when reading posts by new members.

"Suspect everyone" :uhoh:

To actually reply to the topic.

As Henners said the Best and Greatest can be different things.

No one could argue with Schumachers stats, but I think its too hard to pick the greatest.

Fangio, Clark, Stewart, Prost, Senna, Schumacher and even maybe Seb moving into that company could all be in the race. Plus others I am sure.

IMO, the most complete driver currently competing is Alonso, but I don't think he is the quickest over a lap. That's either Hamilton or Vettel.

So that's why Macca jumped on the Perez-bandwagon and snagged him up so quickly.

I guess that sarcasm doesn't translate too well in written form

Fangio, Clark, Stewart, Mansell, Prost, Senna, Schumacher and even maybe Seb...

I couldn't leave Nigel to be included in "others". ;)

As the only man to hold both F1 and Indy titles at the same time, I believe Mansell deserves to be included among the giants of our sport.

Who is the best driver in formula 1 race?

I would say its a close call. But Kimi and FA stands out in my opinion.
Both of them consistently deliver results on and above expectations, more so than the rest of the drivers.
Also they have some kind of sixth sense to stay out of trouble in the races.

Alonso is by far the best driver. He drives what he has to the max. Ferrari currently is not the best car - Where is Flavio when we need him :)

So you saying Alonso needs a cheating team boss to win? Or an uber car like the Renault when he got his two titles?
And on top of that, have no1 driver status in the team.

Not very impressing is it?
